I LOVE oatmeal! I always only cook it with water because I don't like milk, but here's the different ways I've done it.
Mixed with canned pumpkin, brown sugar, ground cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice
Mixed with chocolate protein powder & peanut butter
Mixed with ground cinnamon & a mashed up banana
Mixed with chocolate chips/Reeses baking chips (for a sweet treat)
That's all that I can think of at the moment, but I'm always trying to think of new things to mix with my oatmeal.0 -

organic oats are a great start to the day especially if you are off to the gym or going for a run or exercising somehow...blueberries are great for antioxidants...it's a great idea not to add sugar! sugar leads to wanting more sugar and it really inhibits weight loss. Cinnamon is a great natural metabolism burner.:)0

raisins and almonds, a splash of cool soymilk over the top. always and forever. i love you, oatmeal breakfast.0

For those of us who have very little time to cook/prep in the mornings.....what about Quaker's "Lower Sugar" Instant Oatmeal. Apples & Cinnamon, heated with WATER ONLY = 110 calories.
I'm curious then, what's the calorie count for those of you who do NOT use the instant and are adding other ingredients (fruits, flax, etc)?0 -
bump - great ideas I am going to try! Thanks0

Apple (I cook the apple with the oatmeal), cottage cheese, a little brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and a little milk! It is delicious and I don't even like cottage cheese!! My mom said it is an old Diet Workshop recipe and she has always made it this way for us. It is soooo yummy! My kids love it too! Fruit can be substituted for your favorite.0

Maple syrup, flaxseed, almonds and sometimes yogurt and blueberries0
-
flaxseed, chia seed or hemp seed, almonds, honey, raisins.0

Bananas!
But I like all the other ideas, I'm going to have to try them sometime0 -
my goal is a breakfast that's about 300 calories. so i get about 130 cals in my oatmeal, 100 in my raw almonds, 50/50 in my raisins and soymilk splash. i like to add the almonds to the oatmeal during the last bit of cooking so it kind of softens the almond. i dunno, i love cooked nuts for some reason, it seems almost buttery. also, i used to do an instant, organic, blueberry oatmeal that was DELICIOUS but finally read the label and the sugar content is too high for a meal for me. so i had to give it up. that being said, i firmly believe oatmeal, period, is a wonderful food, however you can get it.0

darn, sorry, this was supposed to be a reply to lady who asked about the calorie content compared to her instant 110 cal oatmeal. still learning the tools. let's see where this post ends up :P0

I also have a half cup of scrambled egg whites on the side.0 -
