Things I've learned since starting MFP...add yours!
I thought this would be fun if people latch on to this post:
Write down one quick phrase, or more, that tells something that you've learned since starting MFP serious or funny. I'll start with two:
1) How crazy it can be that I can eat my regular calories even when I have a big workout.
2) How satisfying it is to have a pre-weigh-in dump.

4) Learning how to manage and curb my 'hunger' with water.0 -
Hi, I am new to MFP and needs some friends for support!0
-
i learned how many calories i actually ate BEFORE i started this site. when i first got on there i thought 1,200 was alot of calories so when i started i went about my day & logged & saw how many i really ate.!0
-
I've learnt as soon as I stop using it I end up getting fat again!0
-
I learned that *I* need a spike day or I get bored.0
-
that if you only have 1200 cals a day, somehow eating raw or less processed foods (nuts, fruits, fresh veggies, lean proteins) go a MUCH longer way than one prepared meal, plus you can eat SO much more!!0
-
I have learned too that water can soothe my beastly hunger and that every calorie counts.0
-
I learned that the calories I was consuming before I started logging everything was outrageous, and some things I thought were healthy choices were not!! big eye opener0
-
1. Sodium. I can't believe that I was having so much and how it effects my weight.
2. Better eating portions.
3. More thought into the foods I eat when I go out.0 -
Feel free to friend me I love the support and love to be a cheerleader for my friends!!! We can do this together!!:flowerforyou:0

1. All women hate some guy named TOM!!!
2. It is illegal to lose weight by having gastric bypass surgery.

I have learned that making pervy comments in the forums earns you this BEST FRIENDS EVER! and gets your threads deleted, oops.0
-
I've learned that you can ( and should ) eat back calories after a workout and still be below your BMR0
-
2) How satisfying it is to have a pre-weigh-in dump.
Thanks for the laugh! Loved this!0 -
1- I have learned that I can be happy and still be on diet. I always had such a bad outlook before using MFP. I know I need a little treat at the end of my day in order to be satisfied and as long as I work it into my calories, I am fine.
2- I have learned that I can cook amazing meals for dinner that coincide with my diet so that I don't hijack my day after doing so well. There is no reason to cook anything full fat. You can always lighten it up by simple switchouts.
3- I have learned to be mindful of EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. Little bites here and there add up big time. It's not worth it at the end of the day.
4- I have learned that I need to take it slow and steady. The weight did not go on overnight and it will not come off overnight. I just cannot give up.0 -
I've learned that:
1) Once I stop using MFP, I gain all the weight back
2) Sodium is in EVERYTHING!!0 -
I have learned eating " fun size" candy bars are not fun on the scale:0(0
-
portion control......meals I was cooking for 2 actually feed 4
Oh and buying lean version of meats is a little more money but you get more meat and it goes further.0 -
I have learned that I can lose weight while eating over 1800 cals a day and I only workout three times a week.
I learned that FOOD IS FUEL - nothing more nothing less.
Eating a cookie not only doesn't stop my weightloss, some times it can help it.0 -
I have learned to get rid of all the silly myths, the eating every 2 hours on time or it screws up your metabolism, not eating after 7pm, too many carbs, too few carbs, all that matters is cals in vs cals out.
I have learned that people do annoying things in the gym from reading a few of the threads haha
I have learned I dont have to starve all the time, that my body needs fuel for these crazy workouts0 -
I have learned that I was eating wayyyyyyyyyyy too much sodium!!
I've also learned that I CAN do this!! just gotta take it one day at a time, slow and steady wins the race!0 -
I've learned that it really isn't THAT hard to not eat crap. I am so much more aware of what I put into my body now. I honestly don't even crave a regular soda anymore and I don't think twice before ordering an unsweetened tea at a restaurant. I choose where we go out to eat based on if they offer healthy alternatives.
I've also learned that MFP is WAY more addicting that Facebook has ever been for me. I rarely check FB anymore, but you bet your butt I'm checking in with my friends on here daily.0 -

Ain't that the truth!0 -
I am learning that the people with the most success log in daily, and that you have to allow your body to change it's own way. Some people loose more inches at first than pounds.
OH, big thing I have learned.....Drink Water. Lots of it. I hate it, but it is some kind of miracel thingy. Drink Water.
Best of Luck to All !!0 -
How many calories I was drinking in alcohol. Just a one glass of my "Key lime pie" (1.5 shots of pinnacle whipped vodka, 6 oz of limeade- delicious)- was almost 300 calories! One or two drinks every other night was adding up to over a pound a week. Yikes! those got cut out immedatley- now I only make them very rarely. My taste for alcohol has almost completley dissapeared actually; I'll still go out on saturdays about once a month, or have people over for a dinner party, but it's very, very rare I'll ever have a drink during the week anymore. I'd rather eat my calories then drink them.0

I've learned that you can find clever people, can cease to feel lonely, and not being judged
I've learned my friends here are amazing
I've learned so many scientific things0 -
I've learned that the support here is amazing, and if you're feeling down guaranteed you can find a tread/comment/post that will make you smile.
Thanks for that!0 -

That my HRM was the second best investment I made; joining Jazzercise was the very best.0
