  • YOU DONT EAT AFTER 7 DRINK A GLASS OF ICE COLD WATER.

    Why?

No reason why, that's ridiculous advice. There is no magical cut-off time for eating.

Exactly. I just wanted to hear this person's reasoning. Body can't tell time. Calories in, calories Out. Metabolism is 24/7. :)

NOT exactly... there are studies that prove eating late at night affects your sleep, your body is active when you have eaten for a few hours breaking down what you have eaten. When you sleep your body uses this time to repair and recuperate, if it is also digesting food, it is not as effective, and you will wake up the next day not feeling as refreshed.

This in turns leads you to be tired and irritable, less likely to exercise, less likely to eat healthy foods and just grab a quick (unhealthy) snack. So unless you have awesome willpower (I know I don't and 90% of people here wouldn't either) eating once just before bed can blow your whole week out.

Some references to back this up:

    http://www.fitday.com/fitness-articles/fitness/weight-loss/3-reasons-to-avoid-eating-late.html
    http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=56681

Foods that produce "sleep hormones" are the only thing you should be eating within the last 3 hours before bed time
If you MUST eat at night here is a site that explains what is safe, and what to avoid:

    http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/23003124/ns/today-today_health/t/eat-your-way-good-nights-sleep/#.T1FhrXm27Kc

So, yes there is no definitive cut off time, if you go to bed at 2am it may be 11pm, if you go to bed at 9pm it is more like 6pm.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

People should do what works for them and what they're comfortable with. As previously stated there is absolutely no difference in terms of fat loss and metabolism between late night eating and other eating. Your body runs 24/7 and you burn calories while you sleep. The calories don't just magically turn into fat overnight. People should just figure out a routine that works for them whilst still achieving a caloric deficit. I prefer eating in the evenings to eating in the morning. That works for me, as evidenced by the amount of weight I've lost.

if i was hungry id grab a small piece of fruit or some peanut butter - if i wasnt hungry id just leave it and make up for it later in the week.
as far as eating before bed lol theres nothing wrong with it. i regularly workout at 11pm-12am and have a large protein shake after and then go to bed..sometimes with some other snack of chips/nachos/candy... it doesnt make me gain weight. it doesnt cause cravings or make me make unhealthy choices, or make me less likely to exercise. eat whatever you want, whenever you want - within moderation

Plain greek yogurt with Splenda.....80 calories, 18 g of protein, and 2 g of sugar....oh and delightful :)

Unless I was actually hungry, I'd just leave them be. Think about how many days you probably overestimate something. Weekly deficit is more important than daily....

Why eat anything? Leave the calories out and lose more weight...if you really want to have about 90, have a banana.

mine is never the same. fruit, silk almond milk, glazed apricots. jello is big on list, cheese , crackers, cheese n crackers...hunk of pepperoni....popcorn enough to taste and stay under daily goal. basically whatever I'm hungry for so I don't feel like I'm depriving myself.

Are you hungry? If not, don't eat the calories. I only worry about calories if I'm under 1200 per day. If you have to eat something I would try fruit, 6 or so almonds, or I like the fiber bars and they have a couple under 100 caleries. Godd luck.

I don't eat after 6pm so I would drink a big glass of water to fill my tummy and go to bed! Then wake up proud of yourself for not eating late at night and start the next day motivated!

    uh... why not?

My day does not even start till 5 PM, breakfast 530 pm, lunch about 1 am, dinner about 9 am... my eating times do not cause my weight gain, the amounts of food I ate and the food choices I made caused my weight gain.. Give me a break, if I am truly hungry regardless of the day I will eat something. Now days I just choose something healthy at most times.

Depends what I feel like. My most common one is a nestle diet chocolate mousse with 50gm of frozen berries.

However, if I truly feel like something specific that is outside of my cals, I'll jump on the exercise bike for 30 mins... Usually I won't even feel like it anymore after that, but if I do, I now have the cals to play with :)
  • just drink water, dont eat just because you have calories left over, as I tell my BFF, those calories dont carry over LOL
