My yankee husband seems to get a kick out of it when i say the word ice. Being from Texas we drink alot of tea and I like alot of ice. I ask for more ice and he hears it as I want some more "*kitten*".

Apocalypse and Kiosk. Also I guess I say vax and fax the same. In the 80's I used to work on a vax computer,. Later when the fax machine was popular, I would pronounce fax the same way I pronounced vax. My husband has been correcting me ever since. I guess I can't hear the difference and you would think the beginning constant would be pronounced the same.
  • Me too! My best friend who is from Florida (southern Yankee) makes fun of the way I talk. The one word I say that she really gives me a hard time with is diabetes. She says the way I say it makes it sound like something sexual. Lol. So crazy.

this is funny, I've met plenty of adults who still say Crown, it's hilarious to me
  • Anything with an R and a W. I have a speech problem and I have to try really, really hard. xD I get them confused so things come out like this if I speak too fast (or without thinking), "She rowe a wed dwess at the redding." (Translation: She wore a red dress at the wedding.)

I have the same problem. War and roar sound the same when I say them and for the life of me I can not say cordoroy!

I am a southerner, too and though I really know how to pronounce towel and boil they always come out of my mouth as 'tal' and 'bowl'. As in "could you hand me that tal to dry my hands, I spilled some bowld water on them." haha

According to my husband, "aunt" and "Italian" I say funny :/

I say "aunt" how it's spelled, and supposed to be pronounced (not like the bug, 'ant')

And "Italian" I say with a short 'i' instead of EYEtalian. He makes fun of me >:(

    Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. :noway:

Can you believe I ran into this word TWICE (!) in the last year.

And by the way, it's the fear of long words.

WOW, and try to say it three times fast too..........ha ha.........you could get a lot of money from bets!! Tell them "hey, I bet you can say this word ten times fast........bet you a million dollars! " :)

I used to correct a friend of mine all the time about how she pronounce process........she'd say "PROcess"...........instead of making the "o" an "ah" sound......

Me too! People correct me, so I correct them back using the improper pronunciation just to mess with them. Gets them all frazzled. ;)

Washington or wash. I have a Missouri accent I guess and it comes out Warshington and warsh. Also Wisconsin comes out Wesconsin. My whole life I didn't realize I was pronouncing Wisconsin wrong until a few years ago a co-worker made fun of me because of the way I pronounced it.

I'm Canadian and I guess I say dawler for dollar, how do you guys say it?

I have no idea. xD I say dawler as well. And I'm from Southern Florida. :3
Maybe doll-are. But that sounds so silly to me!

You mean it's not pronounced dawler?

Worchestershire (as in the sauce)....I think I say it right but it kind of comes out like Daffy Duck or Sylvester are saying it.
