Publicly humiliating someone is mental.

Last night, for the first time in MONTHS I got up the courage to dress up, go out to dinner in a nice restaurant and have a glass of wine at one of the popular casino bars. People were everywhere, there were huge events yesterday.
I was wearing nothing revealing, unfitting, or skintight. Have to say I at least looked nice.
The only thing making me stand out a little is I wore a pair of heels.. after 2 years.
Night was going fine, I felt great.
Walking by on the way to the bar a guy yelled "That's why fat girls should never come out."
I felt so disgusted I no longer wanted the drink and went home.
This happens even after I lose over 25lbs, could've easily discouraged me altogether.
What kind of people who even have thoughts like that, have the balls to actually make it heard?
Anyone else experienced this while doing nothing wrong?

people are heartless0 -
Oh, honey, I am so sorry!! What a total db!! Whether someone has a thought like that or tells their friend, no one should ever be subjected to that!!! I have heard so many people say so many horrible things. Don't listen to him!! The type of people that say that are the same ones that were bullys in school. No self esteem, hate themselves. You are doing great, and I am sure you looked AMAZING!!0
-
That's so rude.. don't let small minded people ruin your time!0
-
I'd have thrown that drink right in his face!0
-
What an a**hole.0
-
That is terrible. People can be so cruel. That person was a jerk, don't listen to crap like that! You're beautiful!0
-
I can't even imagine. What a complete ****heel. I hear stories like this and it makes me angry, upset and sad. People don't know the damage they're causing by a carelessly thrown remark and the desire to show off in front of their friends. I know both men and women have been guilty of this cattiness and it's deplorable.
Please don't let an asinine remark deter you from going out and being proud. You're strong, beautiful, and better than that.0 -
I know the feeling
Something similar happened to me when I went to a concert.
I didn't wear anything to revealing, just a halter top, jacket and jeans.
Two older men standing behind me and my friend said "D*mn! I guess fat girls think they can wear anything now-a-days."
Needless to say, I was very upset.
Don't let them get you down.
Prove them wrong0 -
And that is why stupid men should never go out...he was obviously WAY lower on the scumbag scale.0
-
I would have done the same as you...However had my best friend been with me, she would have punched him in the mouth and said something like "that's why *kitten* shouldn't talk"0
-
*hugs* There seems to be an outbreak of assholism lately. I am sorry you had to deal with this. Do yourself a favor and write down 5 things right now that you are proud of yourself for. Stick that on your bathroom mirror for the week.0
-
ugh. sorry that happened to you. He was probably drunk. Don't listen to idiots. :flowerforyou:0

I'm so sorry that happened to you
I had two guys laugh and say "Ew" as they walked past me on the beach last year. I don't understand how people can be so cruel.
I hope that when I reach my goal weight I can always figure which new people in my life are cruel like this and avoid them0 -
I wonder what he thinks of himself!!!?? I am sure it isnt much! GIRL YOU GOT THIS! Don't let that red neck mother f... get you down! His parents obviously let him down by raising such a FREAK!0
-
You should have gotten a beer and dumped it on his fat head.
keep up with great work with your weight loss, people like that hate themselves....he probably has a fetus penis.0 -
what a jerk!!!! people can be so cruel! Dont let his ignorant remark stop you from your goals. Keep doing what you're doing, you are beautiful darling!!!0

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm going through the same thing but the person yelling the nasty things is the little voice in my head. When I'm at home, I feel proud I've lost 33 lbs over the past few years. When I go anywhere, I still feel like the "big one" or the fat woman. I trash talk myself...have to convince myself to go places because I don't feel worthy. And, I don't have the right clothes, or shoes, or whatever. I make myself a little crazy over it.
I still weight 230 lbs and have a lot more to lose, as I would like to reach 135 at some point.
I don't know the answer, but with rude guys at a casino, I would guess alcohol is involved. One person on MFP who friended me had the perfect comeback line for insults..."I would insult you back, but it looks like nature has already done that job (or taken care of that)."
In any case, keep going..you're doing really well, and you're going to reach your goal one day.0 -
What a BAS%%ARD!
I know it doesn't help but over few weeks/months/years,
you'll be slimmer and feeling fabulous. He'll still be a tool.
I've experienced the same thing in the past and it does
hurt but as long as you can recognise that you are the better person.

He's just angry person so he needs to try to make others feel like crap. You are better than that jerk, don't let someone like that put you down.0

LOL! +1!
don't let him get you down! i'd rather be fat than MEAN!!! you can change your appearance, but he will probably be an *kitten* forever -- how miserable!0 -
That's horrible! Don't let it get you down...there are a**holes everywhere. I bet you looked absolutely gorgeous! Don't let something like this prevent you from dressing up again.0
-
No balls required to be a d-bag.
Have pity on the fool and don't give his ugly thoughts room in your head.
Big props to you for getting out of the house and living your life.
Living well is the best revenge. :flowerforyou:0 -
I am extremely sorry to read your story. What that man yelled is absolutely unacceptable and he should have been thrown out for his disgusting conduct. He probably has no self-esteem and wanted to get attention from other low self-esteem people in order to feel good in his douche bag life. I am convinced you looked absolutely fabulous, and you deserve all the respect and self-esteem in the world. Doing what we are doing - making our best to lose weight and feel good in our skin - takes a lot of courage. Don't let that rude being ruin your opinion of yourself.
P.S.: I don't know if you're like me, but on my bad days, when I feel sad and I am not able to resist eating because something hurt me that I can't fix right away, instead of going for cookies, I go for unsweetened half-frozen fruits : they take lots of time to eat since they're still a bit frozen and are low calorie. So if you're the same as me on this regard, try my trick! It's satisfying comfort food... ;-) Don't give up the good habits you started!! :-)
Good luck!0 -
I just had a dumba$$ in the grocery store make rude comments. Don't let it get you down, you are gorgeous and you probably looked beautiful. I would have yelled out "I can fix my weight, but no plastic surgeon in the world can fix your face" or something like that....or I would have gone and had fun despite him. People are jerks, but you can't let them dictate your life.0
-
What a cruel, cruel man I'm very sorry that happened to you. You're the better person. I am not surprised, however, about this kind of behaviour nowadays. I get abuse off people because of the colour of my hair. It's naturally ginger. A couple of weeks ago a lady shouted "ginger cow!" at me. I felt so humiliated. She was about 30, so old enough to know better. The fact that people can openly insult someone because of their appearance just disgusts me...0
-
Oh man, these people. Where do they come from? I don't understand why people are so heartless. He obviously didn't have any home training growing up.
You are a very beautiful young woman. Don't let scum like that bring you down.
He probably looked like a troll anyway. What a dog!0 -
You guys are amazing, and whenever you need support for any reason I'm here for you too. Every one of you.0
-
you didn´t deserved to be treated that way. It tell more about the kind of men he is and has nothing to do about your self worth. Hug0
-
Arg! That makes me cringe just reading your story. Embarrassment can be hard to get over, but please don't let some drunk in a bar define who you are. He clearly has some issues, probably with all women. You have great support here!0
