Are Fit women the most hated group in America?

Why do people automatically assume someone is jealous if they don't happen to want to aspire to be a certain body type.
Either way ... slim, curvy, muscular.
Who gives a *kitten*?
Just because someone doesn't like a certain look doesn't mean they're jealous.
Also, why do these same women drool over men (like the one's below) but slam fit, slim women etc.?0 -
Thats your opinion etc., (different strokes for different folks) But why do you feel the need to slam any person's body type? (male or female) I was just posting examples of the male body type ( not including mine) that these same women ( not you) drool over but at the same time slam women with silimar builds.
Oh I don't. I don't really care. I have been a tiny petite soft female, and I have been a voluptuous thick soft female, and now I'm a shapely petite athletic firm female. I sometimes miss my tininess, and I sometimes miss my huge boobs, but I like where I am right now. I pay more attention to myself than I do to anyone else. Every woman has something nice to look at.0 -
So...no one read my post in Quagmire's voice huh? Bummer.0

I totally did and laughed imagining you "slamming" all of those guys, lol.0 -
I didn't read all the zillion posts (give or take a few) in this thread but just wanted to add that I personally get a lot of crap from people these days.
I went from a soft and fairly fluffy 167lbs (and I have no idea what my BF% was, but I'm sure it was high) to what I am today in my profile pic - 124lbs, 20% BF. I take crap constantly and I hate it. So it's not politically correct to call someone out if their overweight but lose some pounds and your weight is everybody's business? I get the "You're too skinny. You should eat more. Why do you need to watch/track what you eat, you're already skinny. Have a donut/ice cream/cupcake/whatever treat they are trying to offer me."
One of my running buddies (she's very, very fit, even more so than me) and I were talking about it one day....she gets a lot of comments to. We decided that, sadly, because fat seems to be the new "normal" that anyone who is actually a normal/healthy weight is looked at as being "too skinny."0 -

funny that you see that as him being rude when all he did was say he didn't direct the comment at you.0

That really bothers you?? Shoot, I like it when I hear things like that. "You're already in great shape, why do you need to work out?" "You eat so healthy! You make me feel bad!" "You're losing so much weight! How little are you trying to get?"
I'm like...Yea, I'm pretty freakin awesome. Yes I'm losing weight. You should feel bad (j/k).0 -

It only bothers me to the extent that it would so NOT be viewed as OK if I did the reverse (made comments to an overweight person about how they should diet, eat less, workout more). Why does anybody need to be in my business if I'm not butting it to theirs?0 -

Being a big girl, I can say honestly, I'm not sure I'd call it jealosy, I'd just say that the "Fit" woman more or less challenges them. I have a great respect for women who keep themselves "Fit". It's really hard work, and if they would get out of their "Comfort Zone" they could be fit, too!!!0

Or prime time sitcoms where almost every man for nearly 30 years has been portrayed as an incompetent dolt who couldn`t find his way twice around a flag pole.0 -
Jadedone, here is the today's example,
that picture ticks me off, really. Just because I'm fit doesn't mean I don't have curves and am not a real woman. It just means I have a lower body fat percentage.
I know!! It's ridiculous that people think it's an all or nothing kind of thing.0 -
Ok coming from someone who had been both super fat(now) and super skinny(back in the day), I'd rather be healthy and fit (by a MD's guidelines not necessarily a skewed mans) and trust me when I say skinny(fit) women are by far not the most hated...in fact I would go to the opposite extreme and say fat women are more hated. People tend to think we are lazy and eat everything we arn't supposed to, they do not treat us the same(trust me I"ve seen this in full swing). As a skinny girl I got lots of attention from men(probably the wrong attention), I had plenty of friends. As a fat girl, friends drop(best way to decide who your friends are is to get fat), and people tend to think I'm lazy although I'm actually a very hard worker. It will be interesting to see if my opinion changes as I get healthy(I prefer this term over skinny or fat because skinny is not necessarily healthy). Everyone has their own opinions and are attracted to certain type of body or person. As a fat women in America I have dated every body type out there...and prefer a healthy gentlemen with a great personality over a buff dude thats an a**. But thats just my opinion!0

wasn't this community thing supposed to help people of all sizes be the best they can be...I am starting to see this as another form of facebook...0

Simple answer: Fat bashing is not okay. Skinny bashing is.
I must be living in a completely alternate reality. I don't know, maybe America is different but fat bashing is the most (or only) acceptable form of discrimination here. I see people fat bashing on the internet every day. Not to mention all the negative stereotypes associated with being overweight - laziness, gluttony, greed, lack of willpower. What stereotypes are associated with people of a healthy BMI? That they eat healthy, workout, they take care of themselves, etc. etc. Doesn't matter whether that's actually true or not, this is still the assumption of most people.
Really, because when I was a t a normal weight I was told to eat a hamburger daily, called anoreix, called vain, had a bumper sticker stuck on mailbox that said I hate skinny *****es ect
Minus the bumper sticker, that's all happened to me! And I'm SOOO not anorexic looking. In high school I even had a lunch lady CALL MY MOM to tell her that she thought I was anorexic. Next day at school I told her to get her eyes checked and mind her own d*** business lol. Just because I packed a healthy lunch instead of getting the high calorie/high fat/poor nutrition food served in the cafeteria, and only bought water and a piece of fruit, she assumed I was anorexic. I'm not even the skinniest girl on my volleyball team, or any team I've ever been on, for that matter. Not even close. Usually one of the least skinny. I don't understand the mentality of hating on people just because they're different. I could easily hate on the people that get to eat whatever food they want to all the time, but I don't. Because it's not really their fault (whether they have a super fast metabolism, or are just happy with a much curvier body).
It's ridiculous how judgmental our society can be, whether towards women who are skinny or overweight.0 -
Andi, thats exactly what your friends are doing! Putting down skinny girls to make themselves feel better about their own situation! That is skinnybashing. And a person has to be pretty pathetic to make others feel bad about themselves in order for them to""" feel better about their own situation."""
happens all of the time and its sad.
This!!! Not the most hated. Fat women are hated. I have had things thrown at me, names called by strangers, refused service to me, dirty looks and laughed at and was even told by a car salesman I was to fat for a car I was going to buy. All for being fat. AND all by ADULTS.
I'm sorry that someone thought that any of that was acceptable behavior, because its not. Just as its not acceptable for someone to tell a smaller person to eat a cheeseburger, etc. We really need to start respecting others a little more.
Where's the "like" button when I need it?!!?! lol0 -
Back in Jan. while at the doctors a nurse came into the exam room while I was waiting for my Dr. and went over my BMI with me. She told me that at 6"1 and 217-218 lbs ( 3-4 lb.'s more than I weighed in my profile pic.) I was obese!! She then started making suggestions about how I could lower my BMI. and had me sign and date a form. I got pissed because I had just spent the entire past year busting my *kitten* in order to not be considered obese so I took off my shirt (was going to have to anyway) and asked her to please point out on my body were she thought I could lose enough fat so I wouldnt be considered obese. BMI Is a Joke!!
Is age a factor for BMI.? I'm 42.
Using a calculator like that doesn't take into account how much of your body's weight is from muscle, and how much is fat.0 -

I didn't read all the posts but personally I prefer to be fit. I think muscles are sexy but that is my preference. My coworkers bash the fit look because they think it is too skinny and feel like a woman should be "soft". I just smile and do my own thing because there is no sense in arguing over individual preferences. I do not agree with someone telling me I need to go eat a cookie just because I'm trying to be healthy.0
