I am 53 now and you are right, it is about impossible to eat happily and not gain weight. All I can think is that I have to eat less volume, make better food choices, and be active. I am having problems with "being active".
Anyway, we can support each other. I need all the help I can get.

Agree with you that it gets harder as we get older and the metabolism slows down. 47 here, feel free to add me as friend if you like.0

I'm 46 and new to the site. Would love to become friends with people of the same general age. I have been a yoyo dieter most of my life but I have hit my all time high and really need to make some changes.0

turning 40 sooner than I would like!!
anyone have any input on how important it is to stay within ALL your metrics? I have no problem with the overall cal count but can NEVER seem to stay within my protein count. Is this going to hinder my progress?0 -
I am 46 and it is definitely harder to lose weight and easier to gain it... !! So sad... Just keep on keepin on !0

I'm 45 and you're right on the money! Super difficult to stay in shape. And seems to take much longer to recover from workouts and such. I find that now that I'm in my 40s I have to pay much closer attention to what I eat and always workout regularly. I rarely skip a day working out and I never eat junk food. Sometimes that's not fun but at least I'm maintaining my fitness and health and, in the end, that's important for quality of life.
But for sure it's a huge challenge.
As someone famous once said, youth is wasted on the young!
