I put 1 Tbsp of coconut oil in my oatmeal and it's delicious. I am definitely going to try the ACV.0

Is it safe to use if I've had opened coconut oil in my pantry for a long time? I have never known what to use it for, so wondering if i should now use it or get new stuff? It's probably almost a year old.0

I did this about 2 yrs ago and lost like 15 pounds in about four weeks. I was mixing it with my chai green tea and exercising maybe 2 to 3 days a week. Just walking at home to Leslie Sansone. I was taking it for other health reasons which it did help as well. I was not trying to lose but the weight just fell off. The weight came back once I discovered I was pregnant. :noway: :blushing:0

It's fine. Virgin Coconut Oil is in solid form typically and then as it's heated becomes liquid. You are suppose to keep it in the pantry.0 -
I thought this thread was going to be about hair care!0

any one have any thoughts on this??? I did some research for my mom who has infection after infection and came across ACV. So i thought i'd give it a try before telling her to try it. By day 2 i felt like the skin on my face was sagging. looking in the mirror it wasn't. By day 3 my clothes became very tight but i had not gained weight. By day 4 i started feeling very depressed and my husband was concerned that I "didn't look right". My skin color was off and my face was puffy. It also happened to by my TOM and it was so heavy. I had to stop taking it because each day i was feeling worse. I was taking 2tsp- 3x daily with water.
Does anyone have any idea why this would have been the reaction??0 -

I have read someplace where coconut oil can become rancid over time. It don't last long enough around our house to worry about that though. Worth checking further if it has been sitting around for a while to see if this is true. We use the extra virgin organic version. We use the spray version for cooking too. That one does not impart the light taste that the jar version does (which we also don't mind). Great for pan cooking on fish, chicken and shrimp0 -
Actually it doesn't become rancid as quickly as you might think, saturated fats are quite stable in fact. A year is still pretty safe.0

really? my husband put ours in the freezer one night, and then i put it in the fridge to defrost.0 -
Oh man, i looooooooooove acv.. Never thought to try it on cucumbers! I usually put it on cooked green beans or fried potatoes and onions.. Or cabbage. Going to have to try this with water or tea in the morning..
Thank you for posting!0 -
Yes you do not need to put coconut oil in the freezer. If is safe in the pantry.0

I think the fat from the coconut oil should be categorized differently from what you are consuming through foods. Someone had posted bout it being "short or medium" fat and the fat we try to avoid and get rid of is long.0

You may have already stated this....
How exactly do you know that the ACV is doing one thing for you and the VCO is doing something else completely?
Just curious.
I use VCO in my hair. I scrape it out of the tub and rub my hands together to get it to melt. I've tried to do the method of heating it under hot water, but it didn't do much and I am very impatient. VERY! Haha0 -
Ok, so I got the Bragg's ACV with the MOther from GNC today. I saw it and remembered this thread so I decided for $4 is worth a try. From what I understand, its one 1 tablespoon per 8oz or more (depending on your preference). I hope this works!0

I place the jar in hot water to liquify (it's winter here, so it's solid due to cold) and I measure out exactly the amount I need using a measuring spoon. If you take it in solid form you are getting more b/c it's solid. I use exactly 4T. a day spread throughout the day.0

I have had wonderful results with ACV since January 2013. I am at my goal weight, but had heard so many things about ACV that I decided to try it over Christmas break. Here is what I have noticed so far from the AVC (and I use Braggs - it has to have "The Mother" in it. I take 1-2 tablespoons like a shot before each meal and then chase it down with some water)
* Increased energy
* My Blood pressure dropped enough that I was feeling light headed all the time. When I started checking it mid-January, it was constantly too low. I have now been taken off my low-dose blood pressure medicine that I have been on for years.
* My allergies and asthma are better
* My skin is clearer - haven't had a single breakout since January.
* It does seem to curb the appetite some.
As far as the Coconut Oil, I have followed such a low-fat diet for years (20 grams per day or less) that I now realize I was doing my body harm. Adding Olive Oil and Coconut Oil makes me feel fuller and after only 3 weeks I have noticed that last little bit of belly fat is disappearing. It tastes wonderful in oatmeal. My skin and hair also seem healthier. I am excited to see where this stuff takes me!!!! I am a long distance runner and even feel like my joints feel better. This is good stuff!0
