Older man with Younger Woman (Ladies Only)

I'd never date anyone more than 8-10 years older than me and even that's pushing it! For starters it would be more likely that the person I'm dating would die quite a few years before me leaving me widowed, or they'd more than likely lose their sex drive (tmi?) way before me...0

my husband is 11 years older and age is definatly an issue NOW. when we got married not a issue.. but he seems to age faster and acts like an 90 year old man now (he is 56). im sure it's not that way for alot of men.. but lucky me.. i got a very old acting man to deal with.
I agree with this... My Ex was 13 years older than me and we were just too different in the end but it wasn't our ages as much as who we were as people. He was 40 at the time but acted like he was 65 (he was also painfully shy and introverted and didn't ever want to go out) whereas I was 27 but felt like my youth had escaped me and I wanted to get out and 'live'!!
I've seen plenty of very successful families where there was a noteable age difference between spouses though...0 -
I married my husband when I was 18, he is 13 years older than me. We have been married now for 11 years and have 4 beautiful children. I wouldn't have it any other way!:bigsmile:0

My husband is 20 years older than I am. I've always been attracted to older men, they are so much more mature and distinguished.0

I've dated guys 10yrs + and it's really a matter of maturity and chemistry. Because they were older, it seemed like they wanted the same things I wanted in life and we were more so on the same page than younger guys. I have no preference between older and younger. Just so happend that we caught each other's attention.0

I only date guys older than me. i'd marry a guy older than me by however many years if we loved each other.0

My amazing husband is 20 years older than I am. We just got married this last fall and have been together for 3 years. He's 43 and I turn 23 in a couple of weeks. For us, it just simply works and we're on the same page in about everything we do. We are both avid sports fans and want to continue to country life style we both grew up with.
I've always connected with people older than myself, I've always been more mature and intolerant of the antics associated with the young, immature types! Male and female friends alike, I just have a greater appreciation for people who are more mature, so it was pretty natural that I married the guy I did.
To him, it made sense to pursue a younger woman at the time he did, he was 40, never married and frankly, too tied up at the farm working to go pick up trash at a bar that wasn't really ever going to help him get to his goal of getting married and starting a family. Not to mention, for him to find someone his age, would have pretty much shot the goals of a family right out the window! Me being 23, my reproductive years are in their prime, so while he'll be older as we start a family, my age won't be a concern.
Could there be problems other couples don't have for us in the future, heck yes. There is no denying he'll grow old before I do, however, I could drop dead tomorrow and he would be the one living on without me. You never really know, I don't see there to be any reason to deny your self happiness if you've found the right person just because the "age" isn't right. I'd rather be happy now, than miserable worrying about what I missed out on.0 -
A woman told me the other day that there are women who would date an older man ( 10-15 years older) and even have a family. My opinion is she was wrong but I want to ask the ladies on MFP. What are your thoughts?
My husband is 12 years older than me. This is my first marriage. We have 2 kids together and we're trying for a third. We've been together for 11 years and I couldn't picture my life with someone different. I think it's a personal preference thing. I couldn't stand dating anyone my own age. They had no drive, no direction in life, they didn't care about anything except drinking and clubbing. I went to college. I never enjoyed drinking. A brain is more important than how many beers you can drink during the course of one evening. And yes I realize that my husband was that age once and those were things that most people did once in their lives. And again, I realize not everyone is like this. However, every guy that I dated that was my age (18-24) was like that and until I met my husband, I had started to believe that I would have to lower my standards drastically to find someone.
So yes, I would totally date an older man. lol0 -
My ex was ten and six months older than me ..0

My husband is 18 years older than me I'm 23 he's 41 , we have five children and have been happily married for 5 years. My mom and step dad have been together 20 years and he is 10 years older than her. My husbands father is 20 years older than his wife and they have been happily married for 15 years. Age means nothing.0

I prefer men who are at least 10 years older than me. I've been on my own since I wss very young,I find younger men aren't as mature as I'd like0
-
I must admit I am pleasantly surprise by the responses and have thought about dating some younger for a long time. As long as the chemistry is right age should not matter!!!0
-
My husband is 12 years older then me. Either he acts younger or I act older. It has worked so far. We have been married for 11 years. It will be 12 years in July. I will admit...it is not always easy but then again what marriage is?0
-
One thing I forgot to mention in my first response, back on page 2? I have always been attracted to men in their mid to late 30s. When I was 15 (no, I wasn't even dating when I was 15!) and when I was 50 and even now. Only thing is; now I doubt I would date a guy in his mid 30s (even if he was interested), but I still think there is something very sexy about a guy in that age range.0

My husband's step mom is 11 years younger then my father in law. They have an amazing marriage/relationship and three great children.0
-
My best friend married a man 20 yr older then her I introduced them. He is wonderful to her and her daughter.0
-
I'm being pursued by a man that is 18 years older than I. In some ways I think it can work...but there are other times when I think it wouldn't. For reasons like my kids are the same age as his grandchild. I am just starting with a new toddler and he has been done with and kids and expressed not wanting more, while i wouldn't mind having another with my husband. But if I was done with kids and my kids were a little older it just might work.0
-
I seek/sought after older men like in their late 40's and 50's because they were not talking of having children and "appeared" to have their lives in order. I found they were all odd after awhile and some where even stalkerish. I already knew why they wanted to me:noway:0
-
I am 24, married to a man who is 43. By far, the BEST relationship I have ever been in. And that includes all friendships and family relationships. We currently have two kids and are working on a third0

When you see a man >40 with a woman <25............................................thats just plain creepy!!!
Daddy issues and weird fetishes have to contribute to that s***!!!!!!
And that's why you will find it really hard to find a woman in your 20s. Women don't put up with stupid **** like you just said.0 -

AGREED!!!0 -
its not just age that counts but so much more than that,
you have to be able to get along , be best friends , and lovers, be tolerant and patient with each other,
have good communication, and stand by each other no matter what life throws at you,
and the older you both are the gap seems less important,
my husband is 5 years older than me we have been together since 1974 and married in 1976.
You have to work through issues and forgive incidentals. be loyal and respect each other.
WELL SAID ....0 -
as long as you dont come off as an old man then why not. sometimes people start to get set in their ways and their habits.
age is just a number for me, but if it's evident then someone has lost their youthful curiosity about life and the world around them then they will immediately be too old for me, regardless of their age.. and yeah i've met guys who were younger chronologically but still OLD as hell :laugh:0 -
Actually, the last guy I dated was 20 years older than me. At that time, I was 25 and he was 45. It worked for a few years....but as he got closer to 50, things changed...I don't know exactly what it was, but I started to noticed the difference in our ages. Maybe it was because we got more comfortable with the years of dating...but generational differences really started to get on my nerves. Now I would probably not date someone over 10 years older than me...but it would really depend on the person I guess...0

My cut off when I was single was 10 years. But if I would have met a guy 15 y/older than me and I liked him. I would have totally dated him. My husband on the other hand is only a whopping 3 months older than me.0
-
I like older, I always have. My first real love was 15 years older...we tried having kids (didn't work) and almost got married. I've been with a guy 20 years older and though it was the hottest of all hot, I could not see having a life with him (though if my kids were grown I could see it), but I have very young kids and I think someone closer to my age would probably be best all around for my circumstances. The best physical chemistry I've had in my entire life were with those 2 men, so my vote is that if you find someone you love more than anything....do whatever feels right for you.0

My husband is 10 years older than me, we dated, married and have two children now. I don't understand why an age gap is a deal breaker...0
-
I have been married for 13years to my hubby! He is 14 years older than I am! So far, So good!!0
