Anyone else have pedometers that they're happy with?

My main one is a New Balance Via Slim. I like it becuase it is small and I can wear with most outfits. I think it cost about $30. It did stop working a month or two ago but when I called and complained they sent me new one.

I also have a Sportline one that I paid $5 for at Walmart. It works fine but it is bulky,

I will continue. This step challenge has made a huge difference. I think I may even upgrade to a better pedometer. It will be my reward for keeping a 10k average in May.

I've been working really hard at increasing my steps every day. I even go walking during my break, at least twice a day. Averaging now between 5000 and 7000 steps, but on a really good day when I push myself I can make that 10, 000. So worth the effort. I'm in and will try to log in daily, although I am traveling for vacation the first part of June.

I'll give it a try. I don't know that I can do 10,000 a day, but I will definitely increase my steps :). Thanks for the motivation.

tina219 - I would suggest start wearing your step counter now and see how many you do on a normal day. Then you can set a goal that is right for you. When I first started my "normal" day was 2,000 to 3,000 steps

I'm in! >> This is my first post here.

I'll buy a pedometer tomorrow. Have any of you tried pedometer apps for the iPhone? Oh, and add me up if you want a friend. Looking forward to lose and not fall off that darn wagon anymore.

I really like the pedometer I got from Weight Watchers. You can set your stride. It also tells you your mileage, as well as steps. BTW, I wore my ped. all day yesterday for a dry run, and walked over 1200 steps. I'm ready to begin this challeng.

Definitely don't feel like you have to hit 10,000 steps right away. Start off with your normal daily routine as a baseline, and try to add one or two short walks into your daily activities. Once you get comfortable with that, gradually build up - either by longer walks or by increasing your pace.

In case anyone is looking for pedometer recommendations, I've been very happy with my Omron HJ-113. It tracks aerobic steps and minutes walked as well as total steps, calories burned, and miles walked. It has a 7-day memory and automatically resets at midnight. It even survived a trip through the wash (note: I do not advocate washing your pedometer). And it's reasonably priced - I paid $28 in a retail store, but I've seen it around $23 online. (I've paid more for pedometers that were less accurate and less durable.)

A lot of my friends here love their FitBits, but I need to decide to figure out whether the added features justify the cost for me.

Anyone else have pedometers that they're happy with?

I've got the same Omron and it's served me well for over 2 years now. I toyed with the idea of replacing it with a Fitbit but decided I couldn't justify the expense when my humble little pedo is still going strong and tracks everything I need.

I'll give it a go but I can't post daily, will post weekly when the fitbit updates. Using the fitbit has really challenged me to get to 5000 steps daily so next challenge is 10,000 steps daily. So far top day has been 8000 something.

I'm in - I just use an app on my phone. Distance seemed pretty accurate to what my odometer trip meter said when I drove it....
