Whenever I run outdoors everyone always passes me. I kind of have fun counting how many people pass me by. It might be because of my short little legs. I'm not really worried about it.

It's not because of the length of your legs, I assure you. :)

I finished a practice 5k in 40 minutes yesterday.. 13 min pace. smh...

It's getting better though. I've improved my pace by almost 1 minute in a month.

I had just shaved 10 whole mins off my time from the previous year in the same race.

I didn't read all the posts but if I am repeating someone I apologize....
If a photo of you running makes you look like you are walking, you probably have CORRECT form.

Didn't want to pay for the pictures...but you can go to this link to see my photos from the 2012 Cap City Half Marathon. Not the most attractive photos, believe me....some 318lb guy trying to run....but now I'm 29 pounds lighter, and hoping to be even lighter by the time I run my next half in August.

Had another 5K race yesterday. While the temp was only in the low to mid 80's, the humidity was SO high I couldn't run the entire thing. I walked 3 or 4 times, for less than a minute each time. But, I beat my last race time by almost a minute. I'll take it. Still wasn't the time I wanted, but hey, I'm at least improving. I also took note of lifting my feet up higher when I knew someone was photographing. The pics my husband took didn't look too bad. He took video the second time I came around and I was sure I would HATE the video, but I must say, I don't look nearly as slow/bad as I think i do LOL.

And I think a woman running, no matter how slow or sweaty she is, is just about the sexiest thing you can see. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.

I have a friend who has a similar philosophy. He thinks a woman who is working out, no matter how sweaty, is sexy as can be! When he wants to meet for a drink after I've been at the gym, I warn him that I'll be in my workout clothes, and he says "no problem!"

By the way, good to see someone from so close by. I'm from right down the road in MI!

Even though I used to be slower it still looked like I was doing a decent run. "Good form" is something I got at the gym a lot when I would ask if I was too slow. Now that I am a little faster, I don't look as graceful. :\

Just curious... what's considered a "slow" running speed?

I actually feel like I'm waddling along! :blushing:
:ohwell: I suppose the good thing is I'm actually now feeling like I'm working out and am totally k'nacked after a 30 min session of waling/ "running"....
 LOL! Hope it gets better and my technique improves!!
:blushing: Or .. I'm going to resort to running in the dark!!!

I started this post almost a year and a half ago! I am still running. I'm still slow, though slightly faster. If I really push myself, I can do a 5K in around 33 minutes. And I take much better race pictures now too LOL

I totally look like the top photo. All the time. Right now as I type this. You can't prove I don't.

    Love,
Another flat choppy strider whose 5'11" son casually strolls by her side as she "jogs" :(

While I don't have any photos of me running (thankfully), my daughter has described to me what I look like and let's just say it doesn't sound pretty! She gets a very good view, as she's a lifeguard at our Y and the track is above the pool, so she can see me as I run past part of the pool. She did compliment me and tell me I was less "jiggly" now versus when I started. Thanks, I guess:ohwell: At least I haven't noticed the swimmers staring up at me as I go by, so it can't be that bad. And yes, I'm slow. Currently running a 10 min mile pace but can only do that for about 1.5 miles.

Really, my daughters call me "T Rex" because when I run I hold my hands high and tight just below my chest!!!!

We'll see who's laughing when they turn 50!

I'm glad this post resurrected! I too am a slow runner....a 12 min mile is great for me. But I don't even care anymore! I do my thing and I enjoy having time to take in the outdoors while I'm running.

I'm a slow runner too, between 11-13mm. I just try to enjoy my runs and not worry too much about how long it takes. The main thing is we are all out there working our butts off!! Be proud!

my last runtastic recorded run from a few days ago recorded my average pace at 14:42 per mile. I would consider you guys running 10-12 min miles fast.
