Anyone here who lives their life free of alcohol?

I don't drink - I'm allergic to it - it makes me very sick, raises my body temperature and can make if very hard to breathe. Not really worth it. I also get pressured into drinking at social events (actually had a person ask me if I was, "What, are you like a recovering alcoholic or something"). I just tell people I'm allergic to it (which I am) but I have also told a few friends of mine who wanted to give up drinking entirely and got pressured all the time to tell people that they are allergic to it. They've used it and it works people leave them alone after that and they enjoy their night. The funny thing is it is usually more expensive to go to a bar and buy bottled water or even Sprite with a lime wedge than it is to get the beer on tap:laugh: And I am not alone, I got my allergy from my grandfather - he couldn't even drink a sip without having a horrible reaction.0

I may have 1/2 a glass of wine once every year or two. I'm not judgmental of those who drink (and strangely, I don't think of myself as a non-drinker, just someone who prefers non-alcoholic beverages), but I'd rather eat my calories. Plus I'm not crazy about the way it makes me feel. Liver damage from alcohol was a factor in the death of someone close to me, so that turned me off too.0

I drink everyday because i'm cool and thats what cool people do. If you want to be cool like me, you'll drink everyday and rock and roll all night.
.........and part of every day. I can only party from, like, 1:00 'til 3:00

God delivered me from alcohol in 1992. He delivered me from cigarettes in 2000 and from dipping tobacco in 2005. No matter what you all believe, I KNOW He did, because I could not have done it by myself. He also got me off of drugs and He is my strength in this "lifestyle change" I'm on now. He has completely changed my life and saved my life! God Bless you All! I am not ashamed of the Lord or the Gospel!
I have no doubts about it and I'm really happy for you. God bless you. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
Did someone say free alcohol?
LOL. I don't drink either. I had a couple of drinks years ago when I went to New Orleans and it didn't really do nothing for me.I don't drink at all.0 -

That's awesome to hear. Glad you're not ashamed. Keep on sharing your testimony. :happy:0 -
My b/f has never had a drink.....his father was an alcoholic, even though he never knew him.
I drink a very occasional glass of wine when I am out.....that's it.0 -
Occasionally I do...now that I am thinking about it, I think the last time I had a drink was back in February on my brother's birthday...I used to drink more often when I was younger....*sigh* fun times..0

Over two years sobriety, thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster. No AA either. Just sheer willpower and the fear of empty calories and lost nights.0

No drinking here!0

I don't drink a great deal, I mainly gave up regular drinking at home (ie a bottle of wine now and again) when on a diet a few years back then when I got pregnant with my first child realised I didn't miss drinking at all. Now I mainly only do it when my hubby and I are having a rare child free night out and neither of us drinks to excess anymore, drinking mainly halves0

I don't drink either. I waited until I was 21, tried my hand at it for a few months, had some less than stellar nights and find it to be more trouble than it's worth. The only time I drink now is if I take a sip of a beer that sounds interesting. What a party animal I am.0

I'm free. I drink sometimes, but rarely.0

On rare occasions I'll have a glass of wine but I don't make it a regular part of my life. I haven't had any since January this year. It doesn't really improve my life and it's empty calories for sure. Every time I see a bottle of Merlot in the store I just remind myself it's about 150 calories a glass and it suppresses your metabolism. No way! Not worth it.0

No thanks.
heck yeah. I just turned 21 last year, and I didn't touch a drop. I've literally never tasted it. Not a door I want open in my life. I've got no problem with people that do, I make a hell of a DD, but yeah.0 -

My mother is a alcoholic, and if I ever turned into her, I'd be ashamed. I drink a few times a year to unwind. But that is why I'm on MFP, I eat away my emotions, not drink them away.0

I have never had a drink!0

I've been out 3 times in the past 3 years. I was pregnant twice and have 2 kids so I don't have time to go out and drink. I don't even drink at home. Can't drink and take care of my kids!0

I don't drink... why?0
-
Never been drunk, havent drank in 25 years0
-
I have no problem with others that drink but for me half a beer and I am unbearable for 3 days and my family doesn't like me much. I don't like myself much either. Now I wouldn't do it because I would rather eat my calories than drink them.0

I only drink on days that end in Y0

Once I got out of college, I rarely drank. I have a wine cooler occassionally, but that is about it. I will drink on a special occassion (wedding, etc)...
edit: I did notice when I drink I feel like it is going straight to my belly. Another reason to only drink occassionally.0
