I borrowed The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks from a friend. Been so long since I managed to get nearly half-way through a book, haha. I'm also trying to read Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris, part of The Southern Vampire Mysteries/True Blood series. I was reading 50 Shades of Grey until I dropped it. Totally awful book.

SERIOUSLY, how are you the only other person I've seen so far that has not liked 50 shades of grey?!?!?!? I tried. I REALLY tried. I waited and waited as number 150 something in line to get it at the library and when I finally started it, I overlooked the simplistic plot, pathetic characters and blatent typos, but for heaven sake I had to return it to the library without finishing it. All those other people waiting for their turn to read deserve to be put out of their misery. Sigh.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series! If you're looking for clever, funny writing set on a flat planet that sits on the backs of four elephants who stand on a giant turtle that swims through space, I'd say Discworld is your cup of tea. :)

Seriously, though, it's really REALLY good.

Discworld is fantastic!! Love the humor in that series :)

I read one of these in college- loved it!! Need to add these to my to-read list!

1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. So far it's really interesting. He doesn't usually have female lead characters.

I didn't even bother opening that silly book. Sounded too much like a Harlequin romance on Viagra and I hate romance novels. So cheesy!

Trying to read 50 Shades of Grey but so far finding it puerile, boring and silly. Also quite a put down to women. The girl seems to be taken advantage of, I don't think its very good at all
Note to self, must write some equally dubious dribble and earn big bucks.

I just finished "And then there were none". I'm usually not into crime, but this was awesome.

"Murder on the Orient Express" will be next.

So, so glad to know I am not the only woman on the planet who thinks that series is pure drivel. "Mommy porn" is what a friend of mine called it, and she is dead on....

I am a huge fan of the Kindle because I like to read more than one book at a time. My current list is:

One for the Money by Janet Evanovich (recommended by a friend)

Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst (recommended in a MFP forum)

Les Miserable (I'd forgotten how much French history I've forgotten, lol)

    Bleak House by Charles ****ens

    Emma by Jane Austen

    Gotham Writer's Workshop series

The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by Benjamin Franklin

Also, for literary enthusiasts, there are a couple of books written by a former librarian ( I think they call them "media specialists now) called "Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Reason by Nancy Pearl. Great books on great books.

I edited this because I am laughing at the fact that the author Charles ****ens has the "****" censored out of his name. Considering the time period he wrote in, I find it quite on point!

I've read the Stephanie Plum series, but only read them back-to-back-to-back once. It gets trying. She doesn't seem to get much better at all, and even though there are some differences in names and stuff, the plot is always the same. I still buy them as soon as they come out, though.

This is me with the Patricia Cornwell "Kay Scarpetta" series. Loved the first 10, but the last few have been very trying to read. It's almost a chore to finish. I wish she could find her way back to the way her books used to be. But, like you with Evanovich, I still buy the Cornwell books as soon as they hit the store.
