Do you really think logging in every day to MFP helps?

Omg yes.
After being on here every day for almost a month (now that I have the internet back at home), I was doing rather well.
But THEN my broadband internet company (O2) went down for 2 days, so I couldn't log on. I went off track and have gained 1.4lb. In two days. Ugh. Back on it now though0 -
Logging in daily helps me with my exercise. Logging food isn't because I have no trouble sticking with what I want to do to lose weight. I think it has actually hurt me in getting me confused initially about BMR and TDEE and eating back exercise calories. I was doing okay before just eating clean when I'm hungry and until I'm full.0

Absolutely!
I am a bit competitive, so I see that someone else has done such and such and I am like I can do that , so I try and it motivates me to do more, I don't want to be the slacker of the group, lol.
Keeping track of what I put in my mouth has haelped and the boards have taught me a lot of useful information.0 -
Absolutely. The more I use the site, the easier it gets. Also, join groups, comment on the forums, and add friends. The more time you spend on the site, the more it becomes a part of your life and the easier it is to care more about what you're doing for your health.0

I lost 7 pounds in the past 3 days alone, all because I'm controlling my fat, carbs and calories (which I think are most important). I haven't dieted this way before, just controlled my calories, but seeing the fat etc really hits home. One chicken curry ready meal I was gonna have tonight after work had 28 more grams of fat that if I was to eat a cooked dinner and light lunch combined.
I hope these first three days aren't just a blip!
Let the weight loss continue!

This is so much more effective than forcing myself to eat healthy and craving unhealthy food, and then gorging chocolate to make up for it.0 -
I mostly log to make sure I eat enough at this point, but it has definitely helped me!0

100%. I'm generally not hungry and won't eat enough unless I see it written down somewhere. MFP reminds me to eat.0

Definitely!! I actually log on multiple times a day... I like logging my food, love I can can foods with my phone and bang they are in there in my log.
Truth be told I check MFP before I roll out of bed :flowerforyou:

Logging definitely helps! Before I started logging what I eat, I had a vague idea about the nutrients that were going in my body... With MFP I actually know that I need to eat more of a certain macro or micronutrient, and remember to drink my water.0

I saw a report on the Today Show that said the single most important thing a person trying to lose weight can do is keep a food diary! They showed a woman who had lost a significant amount of weight (like over 130lbs.) and has kept it off for 5 years AND she still keeps a food diary to this day!
While MFP offers forums, friendships, exercise tracking, and other tools, it is primarily an electronic food diary! I have 300+ consecutive days, and I think that I have done pretty good.0 -
I am on again off again so i can definitely say that it works. I only lose when I'm tracking. Im far from my goal so hoping i stick to it this time. Still looking for a support group in addition to tracking.0

Answer = YES!!!!!!!!! Research actually has shown that people who journal their food intake are more aware of their choices, portions and overall caloric intake... meaning they will typically make better choices0 -
Heck ya! Plus you can put it on your phone too, and they stay in sync with eachother, so theres no "trying to remember" eveything you had to eat!0

Right now I like to but I don't want to be tied to it forever.
I have a pretty good idea of what food works for me and I just need to be mindful to listen to my body and avoid overconsumption.
I'll probably have a period of not logging for a month or so and see what happens, from there in I'll come back to logging if I start to slip.
I guess that has the disadvantage of not knowing what made me slip but I don't want to be logging forever.0 -
absolutely! it keeps me motivated, i make myself do it everyday!
this morning i made my lunch for the day and i immediately entered it into MFP at 6 am! it kept me on track all day and when i passed the cafeteria, i didn't buy anything at all cause i knew that i would spoil my dinner and dessert.0 -
100% YES it does.
Without knowing what you are eating, I mean, really knowing, and if you have a food issue, why else are most of us (not all of us, I do realize this) on this website in the first place. There really is no way of you knowing how much you are eating thru out the day. You might not think oh this bite or that bite isn't doing me any harm but at the end of the day, all those harmless bites can amount to more calories, sodium, carbs and so on than you thought you ate.
I enjoy tracking, I know others might find it to be tedious and of course whatever works for you, but for me, yes logging in and being accountable helps me. Also reading the forum, seeing everyone else's success photos, finding out what others have discovered recipe wise helps as I am so not creative in the kitchen.
YMMV, but for me, logging in here every day helps. Thankfully this site exists and for no cost to us. Kudos to the founders0 -
Do you see my start date and the my TOTAL weight loss of 8 lbs? Well, my total weight loss was more like 35-40 lbs and then I stopped logging. I restarted at the end of June. While not logging, I gained all that back and then some. And, I lost 2 years gaining all that back. So, YES! MFP helps. Good luck with your journey!0

Yes, yes, yes... helps me focus, plan ahead, be accountable, get support. And once I stop, even for a day, it is a slippery slope. Next thing I know its been three months and I am back at square one!0

I'd say it helps me from over-eating a lot because of one simple fact. I don't eat little snacks because it's more of a pain to log them than it is not to eat them. I call it the lazy man's diet.0
