50 shades of grey....

I have read all 3. I thought they were a good read. Yes they are "word porn". Isn't that the point. Christian Grey had a ton of baggage for sure but our baggage makes us who we are. His baggage made him a dominant sex god. It's a piece of "fiction". Would I like to go visit the red room that would be a "HELL YES I WOULD". Fiction...Fantasy....that is the entire point of this book.

Oh and if you really want a good BDSM fantasy book read The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne RIce. It is pretty wicked. Like the previous poster said the 50 shades is a bit vanilla.

I really enjoyed the books! I know they are NOT great literature in any way! But I really enjoyed the story line about how they fell in love. The 3rd book was by far my favorite as well because it definitely evolved to more of a love story!

The books are terrible, in my opinion. But addictive. The author knows how to make you want to keep reading. However, Grey as a character is horrible. I don't really understand how all the girls are like, "Ooo Greeeyyy. So dreamy and perfect!" Okay, handsome and rich I get, but also controlling with a crap ton of baggage, and kind of a suffocating jerk. I'm not sure how that's appealing at all. Also Ana always gives into to everything, despite her being a "different sort of character who will stand her ground".

Ana had the potential to being a really cool character, until she kept giving into everything just because he sexed her and gave her googly eyes. Geez, it's just kind of demeaning.

Edit: Also, I might be the only female in the world who has read this and thinks this way. Feel free to disagree with me, this is just my two cents.

This. I refer to these types of books as a junk food read. I read my classics and then I have my "junk" food.

I'm reading them on the sneak in e-book form. haha. It's addicting, yet crappy because the story line is practically IDENTICAL to fricken Twilight. And I've read better sexy times.

I was thinking the exact same thing that it is so much like Twilight.

I see this book the same way I see all romance novels.

I am almost done with Book III and I completely agree with you. I love the story line behind it. I do believe the author rants a wee bit too much with her adjectives, however, the book really is one that most women wish they could live vicariously through. I recently had an argument with a woman who completely tore apart the author and would not listen to a word I was trying to tell her. We almost had a brawl...so I let it go and let her have her uneducated opinion. I just wish I had wrote those books.

Quite honestly? From what little I read of it, which isn't much, it's like a horrible, horrible, fanfiction. I really don't understand how something with such cheesy pron did actually get published.... No, just no.

My hairdresser was speaking about it with one of her collegues yesterday, and it took all of me to not tell her to 'go get some decent smut'.

Really guys? No. Erotic fiction is supposed to be exactly that, not make me laugh from the unfortunate choice of descriptions. The only thing good about this was the dramatic reading by Gilbert Gottfried.

There's plenty of better reads online, and those are for free.

I think that's like reading the newspaper. If you want to read something everyone talks about, wonderful, but that really isn't erotic.

Personally, I think 'Topping from Below' is a very nice read and decent smut. One of my personal favorites~

I agree with you. I actually skipped over the sex parts of the books though when reading it. It felt like I was reading porn and I'm not into porn at all. I have to read a whole series though when I start a book. The story line was okay but I wouldn't read the books again. In fact, I'm glad I didn't pay for them. I got the e-books for free and they are now deleted from my kindle fire!
