Shopping-lists
I'm sure we've done this before, but in light of the conversation going on in the 'How long is too long' thread... What does your mental shopping-list consist of? Further, which are absolutes, which highly desirable, but could be negotiated, and which are just 'it would be nice if...' ? To start things off, my 'absolutes'…

You always go for players, can't see a guy really likes you
This is what my friends told me this weekend: "you always go for the players, and you can't see when a good guy really likes you." My initial response was, that's NOT true! But when I think about most of my dating stories, they're guys who were players. If you asked me what kind of guy I go for, I would have said the nice…

Why men should help around the house
Lemme tell you what my 6 year old did before I sent him to live with his father while I deploy: He cleaned his room and then cleaned the living room. When I came out and was pleased and surprised you know what he told me? "I did this for you mommy, so you would have more time to cuddle and play with me." Smart kid. I…

Opinions are like noses: everyone's got one
Pulled this from the Dr. Laura's thread. MikeM53082 made the original comment, but it could just as easily come from many others. What do you think about this trend of dismissing someone's opinion because they aren't someone you'd date? Can we reverse the trend? Feel free to PM me if you don't wanna post here. I really…

Dr. Laura: Male Expectations Have Changed
Checked out Dr. Laura's YouTube channel yesterday. In one of the videos, she says: Not advocating a return to the “old ways” necessarily…but when current ads show the man of the house on the couch playing video games and the woman comes home from work and starts vacuuming, I'm not sure we've progressed as far as people…

A Poof Rant...
I know this is old... and everyone has been poofed on... and probably poofed... But I need to rant... I've been talking to this one guy for over a month. We've talked for hours, about so many things... We've had those deep intellectual conversations, we've talked about our fears, our hopes, our dreams... we've talked about…

Painful Conversation
Ugh… I felt so bad for this poor guy… I wish I knew how to avoid these kinds of convos while still getting to know someone, because he seemed like a cool guy… the end of each question got more and more awkward and I felt like all my answers were making him feel worse. I try to keep convos to light stuff, but everyone…

How long is too long...?
How long is too long in the face of being single? I'm coming up to 5 years single... In that time I have dated quite a few guys, all unsuccessfuly (either me not feeling it, or them not feeling it... mostly, the guys I liked did not like me and vice versa)... I now feel like I will be #foreversingle (yes, I have even…

The Science of Sex Appeal
Has anyone seen the documentary, "The Science of Sex Appeal"? It's super interesting and makes you think, especially if you are single/dating. Here's the link to part 1... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA6nBS-KHEc There's 9 parts together. I suggest you watch it. It gives a lot of great insight about sex, dating, and…

POF rant ... yes another one
so in the last two weeks, I have been messaged 4 times from guys saying they are "doms" and want me as a submissive .... Is this like a new pick up line since 50 shades of Grey came out? .... and yes I said no to all of them.

Men fall in love with their eyes, women their ears.
Right before I went to the gym the other day, I decided to relax with a little daytime TV. The only thing that sparked my interest was Dr. Phil. In this episode, he made the statement "Men fall in love with their eyes, women fall in love with their ears." How true do you really think this is? Though I can't comment on the…

a Chip a Chair and a Chance
So this question is aimed at the ladies that do get some messages on online dating but anyone can jump in. So I have mentioned my dating ratio on here as being around 1:35... that is one reply for 35 messages. Now my messages and profile don't need to be broken down, they are just fine. My question is: It seems like such a…

Domestic violence and when to intervene.
Yesterday, I was out watching the 1 o'clock football games w/ a friend at a local bar here in south Florida. After the game, we decided to call it a day and go back home. On my way out of the bar, I witnessed a verbal altercation between a guy and a girl. They both seemed slightly intoxicated and they definitely knew each…

Deal breaker?
Hi all! This is my first time posting but I have been reading and would love to be more active. I have recently been dating John, who I have known for over two years. We dated once before but I ended up going back to my ex-boyfriend. We stayed friends over the last two years and recently have moved to the ‘next level’.…

Weekend re-caps
So how was everyone's weekend? Any hot dates? Any new love interests? My weekend was okay but the same as everyother weekend. Played sports with a little bit of work mixed in. First time in awhile I stayed home on a Saturday night with just me, a bowl of popcorn and tv series on dvd. My plan was to save money this weekend…

Opening Doors - an update
Oh wow oh wow what an experience this has been: Boss man - way too busy to even imagine having a dating life. Going to school FT, single dad and owning his own business. VERDICT: Had to go Diesel Engineer Dude: Turned out to sound like a Nigerian Prince telling me he was temporarily broke and wanted me to give him money…

Why did you poof?
No judging, no anger.... I'm just curious. If you've ever poofed on someone, or have a friend who did, tell us why? I, personally, don't like to poof. I usually say "Thanks but I don't think we're compatible." If they ask for more detail I'll tell them. But I have poofed on guys who invite me back to their place at the end…

What Does a Good First Date Look Like?
What does a good first date look like to you? Here's what it looks like to me. I thought about some of the common themes of good, very good and excellent first dates I've had over the years. 1. Pre-selection: This matters most. It is a hard art to master. Who you pick to actually be spending an extended amount of time with…

My Happy Single Life
So... I have been single for almost two years. I've pal'd around with my ex  but I have refused to re-commit. I've been on two dates... both equally bad. And I flirt on the internet, but nothing ever pans out. Anyway... I am beginning to think that I am happy this way. Even though I have been single before, I have…

Plus size shallow girl and gold-digging guy
Yep. I’m watching Millionaire Matchmaker again. This time she featured a plus size millionairess who had a beautiful face, shapely body, but was very very shallow. Her sole reason for choosing a guy was his looks. I cringed when she chose the “hot guy” who back stage had already told the camera that he’d never dated…

Do men really feel this way?
This statement from another thread got me thinking about guys over the years who have showered me with time, attention and even gifts. I thought they were just enjoying the company of a friend- much like I enjoy spending time with my friends and treating them to little gifts. The time we spent talking I enjoyed in its own…

Why dont MFP people say goodbye?
Ok, so I know I'm being overly emotional and soppy here, but if someone is appearing in my feed on a daily basis for sometimes months/years (I've been here 2 years now) and I'm getting to know them either privately or in comments and they are supportive and jolly nice, I cant really understand why they just disappear,…

Repulsive Guy
So I had to go to a "briefing" today at work, and sat next to a guy who repulsed me with what he said. This is the gist of what he was saying to his friend next to him, paraphrased a little bit: "My ex wife's mom was a feminist, and she was kind of a feminist cool, and I'm okay with that as long as you listen to me. So her…

Suggestions for meeting new people???
I am a single, working full-time mother of 2 kids (ages 4 & 7). I am the sole custodial parent and I'm also a homeowner (which means so many tasks at home occupy much of my free time). On weekdays I leave the house at 7am, drop my kids off and I'm at work by 7:30. I leave work at 4 and spend about 60-90 minutes at the Y…

You attract what you ARE, not what you WANT
A friend posted this header statement on FB today and it's stuck with me all day. I have gone back and forth for 3 months now with whether I should even be doing online dating because I never attract men I'm attracted to. They are all men that, quite frankly, repulse me. I feel like I lowered my standards for this round of…

It's the weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekend!!! :)
What you up to peeps?? I'm off to a wedding of a very dear friend  I've known him for about 10 years. He met his bride on Match.com!!! And they are both in their 40's!! So, for all you skeptics out there, it's possible! They are very much in love  There will be lots of people I know and I'm very much looking…

Does one always love more?
I heard once many years ago...may have been from "teen" movie, I can't remember, that in a couple, one person is always more in love than the other. Jen's thread on love got me thinking about this........do any of you agree with this thought?
