running again after all these years
A couple of weeks ago I decided to see if I could run again after giving it up about 30 yrs ago. I suppose my daughter got me thinking about it. She is in her mid 20s and runs half marathons. I got to thinking that it would be fun to run a short race with her (my race, her warm-up I suspect). So I found the couch to 5k…

Repeating W4
Hi All, I just finished W4D3... Although I did much better than W4 D1 & D2, I think there is still need for consistent improvement. That is I had to take a 30-45 sec. walk between the 5min runs. Do you think I should repeat W4 before going to W5 or will I be able to do W5 D1 ? ~ Sam

runner's toe
I started to hsve pain in my big toe during a run a week ago. I cut my toenails thinking that would solve the problem and continued to run, but the pain persisted. today part of my nail fell off and there was blood underneath. Should I continue to run through this? I have a bandage on it now not really sure the healing…

W1D1 how fast?
I started C25K again, W1D1, and I can't make it past 3 intervals. I tried two weeks ago and that's as far as I made it, so I started walking on a treadmill. I have worked up to 30 mins @ about 3.8 mph, walking over 2 miles in that time. I figured that I needed to work on stamina and endurance before trying C25K again.…

Newbie here on end of week 1
I am curious what others are using as their running and walking paces on the treadmill? I am using 3 for walking and 5 for running and i am 4'11 and that is really cooking along for me! I am so happy with my progress so far, other than a bad excertion headache that lasted 2 days, i have not had no problems other than that.

Ran my 5K!!!
So I graduated from the C25K program about 2 weeks ago, and I ran in my 5K race (Biggest Loser 5K run/walk) yesterday. It was VERY hilly, and I was totally not prepared for the pounding that my body would take going up and down those hills. I did most of my 5K training on a track, so it was flat and smooth, which was…

Question about knees
Yesterday was a beautiful day in NE Ohio, so I decided to hit the trail rather than the treadmill at the gym. I jogged a 5k very, very slowly (48:26) which was still a huge NSV for me. I have NEVER been a runner, but am finding that I enjoy it now that I am a non-smoker. Today my knees are a little creaky and hurt a bit…

Nike Fuel Points
Hi All I've been using my Nike + to log my runs whilst doing the C25K and I'm really confused about this. I seem to get totally random amounts of fuel points so I have no idea what they are being given for. As an example I'll give you my 3 runs for last week (they are usually longer than the programme just because I walk a…

stuck at w8d2
I've tried three times to get past w8d2 ... each time, I punk out at about 2.5 miles. WTF? It *IS* hot and humid here and I HAVE been slacking ... I haven't run with *consistency* in about a month. Even so, I was able to do w8d1!! and this is the SAME THING. So what gives? (I'm *thisclose* to being a c25k dropout. I see…

Mvoing to week 2
So I started cardio training last week. I did it 4 days the first three i did 2.5k and two 3k days at my own pace(a combo of walk/run like c25k without set intervals) then I found the program and decided to do the week 1 work out. I am thinking I should move to week 2 due the workouts before I found c25k being similar(also…

So it started pouring rain on me during my C25k run...
...and it was actually very refreshing! I usually hate to get rained on because I have the type of hair that curls wildly when it gets wet..however that's not a big concern i I'm running because it's going to get wet and gross any way. Besides all the motorists slowing and staring at me, it was great. I was concerned my…

W4D1 - Nailed it!!!
Just have to say that I am WAY proud of myself for mastering W4D1 (albeit the second attempt at it). I even ran an additional 10 minutes in 2 min increments while doing my extra mile (I do 4.4 in all). I finished the first 3.3 miles in less than 41 minutes and the whole 4.4 in less than 57 minutes, so I was pretty stoked!…

treadmill vs. outdoors
Good morning everyone! I have tried to mix up my C25K training between outdoors and treadmill, but I have completed weeks 3 and 4 on the treadmill only (it finally got hot in GA). I also completed W5D1&2 on the treadmill. I thought day 1 was really hard, but day 2 was a breeze. Just for info ... on the treadmill ... I run…

run double app, week 5 day 1
I completed week 5 day 1 using the run double applast night. In the description it says three 5 minute runs seperated by 3 minutes walking. I thought that the first five minutes was long, and when I checked my results I had one 7:37 run and two 5 minute runs. Has anyone else had this happen with this app?

When is your first 5K?
I just finished week 6 this morning and I have registered for my first 5K on Saturday, August 3rd. My hope is to break 30 minutes but I won't be too discouraged if I don't. This is more of a "bucket list" thing for me (even though I am only 46). How long after you complete the C25K program are you planning on running your…

Running Consecutive Days
What is the down side to running the program 2 days in a row? Other than risking injury? I am early in the program and feel great after my run yesterday. I want to day 3 today (of week 2) after doing day 2 yesterday. But I don't want to ruin a good thing either, so I am torn. Any advice from experience?

For those that have already run their first "competitive" 5K
I will be running W9D3 and graduating on Friday and then running my first "competitive" 5K on Saturday, August 3rd. Throughout my training, I have been running by myself with some MFP and Nike+ buddies to keep me motivated. Since I have been running by myself at 5:30 every morning, I am a little nervous about running with…

take THAT, w8d2!!!!
Thanks to y'all's suggestions, I changed over from distance to time. Welp, at the end of the 28 minute run, I didn't FEEL done ... so during the cool down, I kept running. I ran for 33 minutes and when I looked at my distance ... yep, you guessed it, 2.75 miles. Now I can move on to w8d3 with confidence (after being stuck…

Anyone doing the 5K-to10K Program?
Hello all! I graduated from C25K the first week of July and the following week I began actives 5K-to-10K program! Just wondering if there are any others doing it? I am enjoying it a lot especially since there are intervals included at least once a week :) After I finished this program I am hoping to do a program for…

Outside vs indoor track
Me the non-runner started the C25K program on the treadmill. Did a run a week outside in the beginning and wanted to die. Somewhere around week 4 that changed and I ran the rest of the program outdoors. I don't seem to be able to do it on the treadmill. With the disgustingly humid weather and the non-likeable idea of…

C25K Success!
I began the C25K program in April of this year. I had planned on running a Color Run 5K in June but ended up not registering as the friend I was going to do it with joined the Army, plus I definitely was not ready. I could do 10 minute intervals but anything more than that was death. I couldn't finish W5D3 at 20 minutes.…

Sort of New
Hi there, I'm new to this group, and have attempted the couch to 5k before, however only got to week 4. What I found hard was finding the time to do this run. I am currently working full time, and go to school 3-4 nights a week. I know, I know - you have to make the time to exercise. My issue is that when I first started…

Finally did it!
Yesterday I ran for a full three miles. It took me 45 minutes but I did it. I started C25k in April and had not run at all since High School sports 20 years ago and even then I was never a runner. I did not think that I would be able to run when I started but I successfully completed the program which was to run 30 minutes…

What do you drink after a run?
What do you drink after a run other than water. I mostly run at night after dinner and don't feel like eating a big snack. I drink water to rehydrate already but what else can I drink in addition to or in instead of. I heard of some people drinking chocolate milk but I can't drink milk (cow's) and I won't drink soy.

Repeating/Extending Weeks
If you don't feel ready to move on to the next week do you repeat or extend the week or do you push yourself on to the next one? I'm inclined to extend the week until I feel better prepared to move on. I did week 1 for 5 days instead of 3. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the subject. Someone messaged me and said…
