  • Following, and thanks to those who posted pics! I'm not ready to post any yet. I'm a classic Apple shape at 243lbs, heaviest at 260 - unfortunately short at 5'2. I'm at that point in my "be active and healthy" journey where I start getting really frustrated because I see a difference in my but, thighs and arms, but still…
  • Great! These are all exactly the suggestions I needed to get the most out of my gym time and especially planning ahead to make sure I stay on tack. Thank you. I have gym clothes washed and ready for the week and I even put a reminder in my calendar to change them out at the end of the day :) I like the idea of switching…
  • It is scary. Private health care is expensive and discrimination is a part of its framework. I think i would choose death before putting my family into unrecoverable health care debt if I found out that I was sick and needed expensive treatment.... or if I could afford it, I would join the growing number of Americans who…
  • Well put - thank you! Health care should be a human right, not one associated with employment -- having smokers, obese people, or any other people who engage in risky behaviors (drug use, promiscuity, extreme sport athletes for that matter) pay more out of pocket for their care is another issue.
  • I'm thinking about getting a HRM as well. Can anyone tell me if they make beeping noises occasionally? Often when I'm at the gym I hear beeping noises in the cardio section and it is hard to tell where the noise is coming from, but I've seen a few people fiddle with their watches while the beeping is going on....…
  • Sweet, Bel! I'm one of those people that can certainly tell you've lost weight, but what is most important is that you are seeing it and feeling great about your success! I haven't reached the point where I can see it yet, but I'm starting to feel it a bit. Keep up the great work!
  • Sorry to go off the post topic, but I saw this and I want to talk baby carriers!! :) One of my biggest motivators for loosing weight is that I'm hooked on using a wrap style carrier and want to loose weight before having our first so that I can do this more comfortably. I'd like to PM you about this.
  • Welcome and congrats on those first 60lbs!! I can only imagine how much more energy you have now :) So far the first 13lbs hasn't made much of a difference on me, but I am starting to feel better and have more energy and everyone on this site really helps to keep me motivated. It is amazing what logging can show you about…
  • Thank you for your post - I will look back on it often for motivation! :) My incentive to loose weight is a picture of myself in a light purple bridesmaid dress too... I felt horrible horrible and unhappy in that dress, but put a smile on my face for my friend's special day and then immediately took off 30lbs after seeing…
  • MFP has me at 1200 cals too. In HS when I lost a lot of weight with the guidance of a doctor, I was eating 1200 as well. That said, on days when I've made good food choices and still feel hungry (or irritable/cranky/tired) I eat something (usually with a little fat in it) and don't think twice about going over. On gym…
  • Wonderful! I'm very excited about seeing you on the Today Show. It is inspiring for all MFP users to see someone who has really used this site to change their life, and hopefully it will inspire others who are not yet MFP users to take action knowing that a supportive (and FREE) community is out there. Congratulations on…
  • I'll watch the video in the morning since hubby is asleep and the earphones are at the gym... but I just wanted to give you props for posting this and making a decision to strive for more sustainable living. I learned a lot about corporate water control and the urgent need for clean FREE water sources while living abroad…
  • WTG, Bel! I haven't gotten to that point yet since joining MFP, but I remember when I lost a significant amount of weight for my wedding that loose pants were the best motivation ever!! So, buy a belt for when you go out, but when you're at home...dance around like crazy and enjoy those pants falling down! :)
  • WOW!! Well done! I don't have anything to new to add that hasn't already been written above, but I wanted to tell you that you are truly an inspiration and I now I will be checking back on this post whenever I need motivation :) Thank you so much for sharing your story and photos!
  • I'm in, girly style of course... but hopefully that will change by the end of the month! :)
  • Uggg - sometimes significant others seriously don't understand how their "words of support" are being received. Unless your hubby is an *kitten* and intended to hurt you... in which case I hope you have the strength to make as big of changes in that area of your life as you have done with your health! You're rockin' the…
  • CONGRATS! You look wonderful and have worked hard! I absolutely love your post - I was a bridesmaid at my heaviest and absolutely hated the way I looked in the dress. Seeing the pictures of you in your dress that would completely fall off if you didn't hold it up is very motivating. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great…
  • I was wondering the same thing about Crystal Light. I'm always adding the to-go packets to my water - I haven't been counting it as water, but then I never end up with 8 cups of water for the day.
  • WTG!! You look fantastic and I bet you feel amazing. Enjoy and keep it up!
  • Congrats on keeping the weight you've lost off! You will reach your goal - next time you crave 3 slices of pizza tell yourself you have to earn them with at least a half hour of cardio :) We do pizza every Monday night and even if I don't make it to the gym, I can usually fit 2 slices into my calories if I plan the rest of…
  • Wow! Great job - I am definitely not anywhere near the 300 range, but you are inspiring me! Just curious, do you do 300 of the same, or do you change up the type of crunch you are doing to target your sides/upper/lower?
  • Thanks for your responses! I'm definitely focusing on cardio to burn the fat and have recently added weight-training. It is a bummer to think that you can't target fat loss, but that won't stop me from doing stomach crunches till the cows come home ;) I also just found this information on…
  • Mexican food - with plenty of cheese and guac! So hard to resist... must learn to practice moderation!
  • Hey there. You can still enjoy both white and brown rice in moderation.... I try to stick to only the serving size when I make it and then make lots of extra veggies to fill up on. That was a staple while I lived in Israel for three years after learning how quickly hummus, pita and falafel put on the pounds! We moved back…
  • I'm looking forward to being thin and healthy enough to get fat again - try to conceive ;)
  • Your title caught my attention - mmmm.... enchiladas :) I'm always looking for ways to have my Mexican food and eat it too (with fewer calories, carbs, fat). Welcome to MFP and congrats on your first 2lbs. I've lost 2 since joining 10 or 11 days ago. It is a very supportive community and the food database is a great tool.…
  • Congrats on your 26lb loss! That is incredible. Also, congrats for taking control again. I've only been at this a week, and I'm sure that I will have days or even weekends when I blow it, but I have promised myself that I'll log those calories anyway so that I can at least know what I'm eating. I know a lot of people say…
