  • I think you said something really important here - you failed ( many times ) but kept trying. Only by our failures can we truly succeed. Excellent job!
  • I work from home PT and I also am a SAHM. I found that making a schedule for my little one as well as myself really helped me to stop grazing. I plan my meals and snacks. I tend to keep a lot of fruits and vegetables readily available too. It's certainly not easy, but you can do it!
  • Always happy to have friends! www.fitbit.com/user/3GS96Q
  • I started today as well. I work from home and I'm a SAHM, so normally I get about 2000 steps in. I did some purposeful exercise today, added a 30-minute walk outside, and logged over 5700 steps. It's a good start.
  • Recently, I put one through my zoodle-maker (can do the same with a grater) and put it on a waffle iron. It kind of made a sweet potato hash-brown. It was pretty tasty!
  • Yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit is always delicious! Honestly sometimes I am in a rush and pop in 2 eggos and put a homemade strawberry and rhubarb spread on top. Both satisfy until I have a mid-morning snack.
  • 4-6 large chicken breasts, one large jar of salsa, one packet of taco seasoning. Let is go for a few hours until you can shred the chicken. The chicken is AWESOME, great for salads, tacos, tortilla soup, etc. Plus it's not high calories at all.
  • I will be getting the flex myself next month. I looked at both, and for my own needs (I really don't work out so hard that I want to monitor my heart rate) I felt that something that can monitor sleep, somewhat accurately monitor steps, and give me a good idea of how many calories I'm actually burning are the way to go for…
  • I always use a chuck. They're pretty inexpensive and you get a LOT of meat. You really want a meat that can stand a long cooking period as well.
  • Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to change the mind of someone who is thoughtless, self-absorbed, and rather douche-y. I second what rabbitjb posted: send this in a memo to him.
  • I cook spaghetti squash often! As a side, SS with alfredo is awesome. Try this dish as a main dish - SS with sausage and peppers: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/sausage-peppers-and-spaghetti-squash/detail.aspx
  • That's what's up! Now that you've been successful, what do you do now to maintain/improve?
  • Protein-rich foods, such as cheese, yogurt, dairy, meats, certain beans, etc, are great for aiding in muscle development. They're only beneficial, however, when combined with strength training.
  • I don't know if it's exactly a reward or a need, but when I lose more weight I will have to buy new clothes. I'm back in to my pre-pregnancy clothing now (Hooray!) But I was also overweight when I got pregnant. My husband says he's going to buy me a new wardrobe but really, he's going to have to since I know absolutely…
  • Try eating 200-300 calories every few hours. Unless you're very petite and tiny, I would think your caloric intake should be between 1200-1500, if not more. Food can be delicious, so why limit yourself to so little of it?
  • I would suggest first no high heat, especially with gas. Stick to med-med/high. (And if you weren't doing this already, don't put the pan under any water until it completely cools off. Also use nonstick tools. No metal). You could probably get away with one larger nonstick pan (try a wok). I love my Anolon wok and it was…
  • I'm not sure if this had already been asked, but what kind of cooktop do you use and how high is the heat? I use both nonstick and stainless steel...It depends on what I'm making. I actually used to sell a variety of cookware: Calphalon, All Clad, Anolon, etc. I will tell you right now you don't need the most expensive…
  • I do the same! I enjoy getting new ideas for meals. It's because I have several vegan friends that I'm trying more vegan meals (and enjoying the variety).
  • I am not surprised that people want to hide their logging. Some people are private and don't want to share. I also think (in some cases) that they aren't being honest with themselves. I actually emailed a member on here. I looked at her food diary, and nearly every single entry was pizza, soda, fast food etc. Not one fruit…
  • I normally have a glass of wine in the evening! If you're still hungry, you can't go wrong with yogurt, apples, baby carrots, hummus, etc. You have the calories - use them any way you want to!
  • I made huevos rancheros for breakfast this morning. 21 carbs, 36 grams of protein, and only a little over 400 calories. It wasn't the fastest meal to make, but it was DELICIOUS.
  • I use mine all the time (it just so happens I used it tonight). Try these: Mexican Chicken: 6 chicken breasts, 1 16oz jar of salsa, 1 packet taco mix. Cook until you can shred the chicken. This is great for tacos! Pesto-ranch chicken thighs: 8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs, 1 packet ranch dressing. 1 8oz jar pesto, 1/2…
  • I do not, but I follow a different plan than standard MFP. I do a TDEE - 20%. I manually input my daily calorie goal. TDEE includes "expected" caloric burn (and I log cardio as 1 calorie). Both ways are effective, but I found that I have better results on TDEE.
  • I make sweet potatoes often. Also try balsamic Brussel sprouts.
  • I plan a week at a time. Usually on Saturday I can see next week's special offers at the store and I plan based on what i get. I go grocery shopping every Sunday morning (to beat the crowd). Planning is awesome and a great way to keep calories in check!
  • Crockpot chicken taco meat! I use 6 large breasts, 1 16oz jar (or more) of salsa, and 1 packet of taco seasoning (or make your own). Let it cook until you can shred the chicken. The chicken is SO GOOOD. I use it for tacos, salads, and chicken tortilla soup. Plus? It's super easy. It doesn't last very long though, because…
  • I marinade pork tenderloins and throw it on a grill. Super easy and delicious.
  • In a crockpot - 6 large chicken breasts, 1 16oz jar of salsa (or more), and one packet of taco seasoning (or make your own if you can). Cook until you can shred the chicken. This chicken is AMAZEBALLS. Great in tacos - I also set about half aside to make a chicken tortilla soup with it as well.
  • I'm a big fan of quiche for breakfast! You can load it with veggies if you like, or do something like cheddar and bacon. If I cook one, I have ready-made breakfasts (or lunch or whatever) for several meals.
  • Woohooo!!!! Congratulations!!!
