  • I agree completely with Brian & Djproulx. My son & I started doing mud fun runs 5 years ago. We moved on to sprint tri's later and now we're training for Ironman Panama City. It can be addicting! Oh, and I forgot to add good luck & enjoy yourself! Don't worry too much about changing your eating for this event. You will…
  • I had it last year and it took about 4 months to heal. I swore by KT tape. I know, I know, there's no scientist evidence it does anything but it really seemed to help me. I also rolled a tennis ball under my foot & iced it at night. It took awhile but I've been pain free for 6 months.
  • I've used mapmyrun for a few years now. The GPS seems to be accurate but don't count on it for calories burned, it WAY overestimates. I also like that it has a website and there are different challenges that you can join up (although there are a few people that don't understand the honor system!).
  • Congrats on finishing your 1st tri! I started last year and am addicted! I also have a hybrid bike & I HATE using it for races. I finally found a used road bike yesterday under $200. It needs a tune-up, but other than that is in good condition. I've been looking for over a month and found one in a pawn shop. Look on…
  • Congrats! Nice job on beating your goal!
  • I used this strategy and it lowers the stress level. You don't have to worry about getting kicked or hit. Just make sure to check your surroundings. I made the turn at the buoy, put my head back down, started swimming and when I looked up again I was not quite on course! It only cost me about a minute, but it frustrated…
  • Agreed! A good pair of shoes make a huge difference. I have a pair just for running so I don't wear them out too quickly. And you don't have to spend $110's of dollars. I got a pair that were 50% off because they were last year's model and the new ones were coming in.
  • I've been running off and on for about 1 1/2 years now. And I still don't "love" it. I don't know that running and I will ever be best buddies, but I've learned to get along with it. Like others have said, once I got off the treadmill and started running outside it was so much better. I kinda like running outside. But…
  • I took 3rd in a Sprint tri last year in the Athena group.....however there were only 4 of us in the group! Still, for my second tri I'll take it! Edit: My first race this year (in 1 1/2 weeks) I'll be doing Athena again and it's a much larger field this time. Not sure if I'll be seeing the podium again. In November…
  • I'll add a few oldies but goodies: Cum On Feel the Noize - Quiet Riot We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister American Girl & Runnin' Down a Dream - Tom Petty and for some reason I like to end with Only the Young - Journey (maybe cause I'm not so young anymore?)
  • WTG!!! Before you know they'll be falling off you and you'll have to buy an even smaller size!
  • I would be flattered is someone found me attractive enough to talk to me at the gym! No makeup and sweaty and he still wants to talk to me? Just wait until she's done working out. While a breathy conversation can be sexy, it won't be if I'm on the treadmill and I pass out cause I'm trying to hold a conversation and run!…
  • I like the way glitterpiss moved the words. I think it's a cool design and if you're sure you want it, then go for it.
  • Awwwww.....so cute!
  • "Running after my daughter keeps my weight down." SERIOUSLY??!?! She's over 600 pounds and thinks she actually "runs after her daughter" and it "keeps her weight down"??? I've seen this woman on tv and while I'm not a doctor (I just play one on tv, lol) it would seem she has some mental issues. The more press and tv time…
  • Club Can't Handle Me - Flo Rida Party Rock Anthem (and now Sexy & I Know It) - LMFAO Evacuate the Dancefloor & Everytime We Touch- Cascada Sexy Chick (or Sexy Bi*ch) - David Guetta Gotta Get Thru This - Daniel Bedingfield
  • I love this show too -- bonus that the guys are easy on the eyes  I prefer the earlier season too. Remember the good old days when they chased after vampires, ghosts & wendigos? Although I do love Cass & would hate to see him go.
  •
  • For me, my philosophy on water addititives is use it in moderation. Most, if not all, contain chemicals that cause anything from headaches to digestion issus to cancer. It seems like every month there's a new, great, safe sweetener until the next new, great, safe sweetener comes along then the previous one is bad for you.…
  • I love bananas. How could a banana be bad for you? Yes they have carbs and sugar, but unless you have diabetes, then bananas now and then won't hurt you.
  • A few of my favs: Club Can't Handle Me - Flo Rida Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO Evacuate the Dancefloor & Everytime We Touch- Cascada Sexy Chick (or Sexy Bi*ch) - David Guetta Gotta Get Thru This - Daniel Bedingfield
  • My first 5k was around 39 minutes and I threw up after I crossed the finish line  I saw all the people walking around eating oranges & bananas before the race, so I decided I should eat an orange too. At around the 1 mile mark I could feel the acid in the orange just sloshing around in my stomach and it all came out…
  • I just completed my first sprint triathlon on Sunday and loved it! www.active.com and www.fitbie.com both have some articles on triathlons and training. I'm not a runner either, so I concentrated mostly on running (plus I'm thinking of doing a half or full marathon in December). I did some swimming and biking once in…
  • I did my first mud run in March & had such a blast I've done 2 more since then! I took a pair of old sweatpants and cut them into shorts thinking that would be something I wouldn't mind just throwing away after the race. BIG MISTAKE. The 1st obstacle was a lake we had to go through and those "sweatshorts" absorbed water…
  • Sunday check in:    2 pounds lost!

  • I had a plastic cow called "Milky the Cow". She came with a little trough you filled with water. You put a little white pill in her udders & pumped the tail up and down to get her to drink the water. When her head popped up you then milked her. PRESTO--"milk" came out of the udders. I actually still have the cow. My mom…
  • This is usually my plan of action too when I'm sick. LOTS of fluids (I always say it'll flush the germs out  ) And I try to stick to low sodium soups & crackers when possible. Rest up & feel better soon.:flowerforyou:
