I have had tons of success with running when I want to slim down my arms. That, as well as the elliptical (the one where there are handles where you can use your arms to pump). Besides triceps work, I avoid weights because they always make my arms bigger. I think running combined with cutting back on carbs and sugar will…

Agreed!

I agree about sedentary...the point of putting "active" is if you had a job where you were moving around alot, and did not log that as exercise. As long as you are logging each run I would think sedentary is the best choice. Im sure another runner could give you more insight then someone like me though!

Trader Joes reduced fat Cilantro dressing is SO GOOD!

Are you a member at a gym? Doing group classes like spin/pilates/etc can be really motivating and fun. My mother is a similar age and group classes have really been helpful for her.

You are amazing! So inspiring...

There is a really good book called Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. One of the things discussed is that many of these third world countries are starving because they have overpopulated and tapped out their resources. He brings up the point that IF this is true, we are actually not doing them a favor by handing them out more food.…

Try and train yourself not to have dessert until after dinner...After lunch I will make some coffee which usually nips my craving in the bud. I keep all my "nighttime" food like sugary cereal and chocolate kisses in a seperate cabinet so I dont look at them during the day. Just leave the cafeteria as soon as you are done…

Why dont you just delete all your friends and just continue to log for your own benefit? To me it sounds like there is something else going on there.
-
I agree! It must feel great to have people notice your weight loss and see such a significant difference that they think its magic!
-
Thanks everyone...added some chocolate and cookies to my night. Dug myself a hole! Oh well, 4 mile run in the AM and back to my clean diet.

I agree, if you add veggies to many foods you enjoy, you will probably not notice them. I add onion and green beans to my pasta, spinach and broccoli in my omlettes, bell peppers with my rice...etc etc.

I've gotten a little addicted to measuring, planning, and logging as well. But at the same time, this website has made us all hyper aware of what we are eating. I think its normal to be a little obsessed...besides, its kind of fun! I think it may seem a little abnormal to those who dont use a website like this (like your…

You look great!!!

Hi! I agree with the high sodium...I think MFP sets it way too high, I would aim around 1800mg. Also, you eat alot of cheese, yogurt, and fruit. I would try throwing in some vegetables and nuts as a replacement.

History has shown again and again that it is better to use the real thing!

Great job!!! 40 lbs is alot....thats an entire bag of dog food!
-
Unless you are a woman with very short hair, that would be correct!
-
Thats why I dont accept guys as "friends"..maybe its a little extreme but I prefer to only add/accept women with similar goals and eating habits.
-
mmm...I think eating healthier is much cheaper! The only issue I had was that my produce was spoiling quickly which = a waste of money. So now 75% of the veggies I buy are frozen, but a big bag of frozen spinach/peppers/beans at trader joes is only $1.99 and they last forever. You dont HAVE to buy organic if you cant…

Hey there! I am not sure what your fitness level is, but have you ever thought of working toward a 5k? (3.1 miles) Its so nice to have a goal, and the feeling of accomplishment after a race is amazing!
-
Have you ever had oriental rice crackers? SO GOOD! and fat free....trader joes makes good ones, and they are only like $2-3 for a big bag!
-
I would recommend a cheat meal as opposed to a cheat day..
-
Training for a 10k! Did the 5k, now onto the next : )

From the looks of his plans, (Hal Higdon) he seems to space the running days apart. Is it bad to run two days in a row? I didnt know this..oops!
-
The Hal Higdon link is great! Thanks everyone!
-
What does your training schedule look like? I trudged my way through one over winter break, but would like to actually do it correctly. Right now I can run 3 miles...so that is my starting point.
-
I actually eat relatively healthy desserts...besides the occasional mini candy, I like cinnamon swirl bread, cocoa rice krispies cereal, trail mix, etc. Its the fact that I need it after each meal and that I am not satiated easily, so I end up eating too much of it!!!
