  • My bad on the "H" standing for heat... it stands for hydrotherapy. Anyway, today is day 2... I have to say, I really think it is better. Its still really stiff and hard to walk properly, but I can put weight on it without much pain. Its still swollen and warm, but much less so compared to yesterday. I'm still wearing a…
  • From what I can tell, its basically heat, exercise and massage... I tried it this morning, and I guess it feels better? I don't know though, as I'm still not able to really walk on it It promises a quicker recovery, than RICE because it encourages blood flow ( hot/cold water therapy) breaks up the scar tissue (massage),…
  • Hi! This is a thread from yesterday about calorie "zig zagging" to get over plateaus. While that's not your problem, necesarily, you may find it helpful in that our bodies are tremendously adaptive to varying amounts of caloric intake. Perhaps you can utilize this information to make the most out of your situation.…
  • I've been wondering about how to break this thing. I've raised my net calories per day from 1200 to 1350 thinking that might do the trick, but I seem to be stuck here as well. I think I've lost about 2 pounds since the beginning of June and since I've bumped my intake up a bit, I've only seen about a .5 lb loss. So maybe…
  • Love it. Eat it almost every morning with peanut butter and either sliced strawberries or sliced bananas. I ditto all the comments about the raisin- it is delicious and yes, the first time you try it you might not love it. Stick with it. Have it a few more times after that and you won't want to eat any other type of bread!…
  • I've encountered this situation way too many times to count. Its really frustrating. I have several "strategies" for dealing with the questions. For instance, I'll say I was starving an hour ago and already ate (I use that one the most) or that I forgot about the food being there and brought food with me from home that I…
  • I know what you mean... my grandma sent me some over thanksgiving holiday. I think I ate an entire loaf in about 3 days! lol. What I didn't do then, and what I would certainly do now (maybe you could too) is cut it into single serving slices and freeze it. Then when you want some, you'll have to thaw it out. Another…
  • I've recently become a vegan too. I'd been flirting with the idea for about a year, tried it fully for 30 days over last summer ( I lived in DC, it was really easy there) and decided to go back to eating meat, eggs, and some dairy after moving back to LA, since that was really easy too. Except, the first time I tried it, I…

  • Unless you ate over 3500 EXTRA calories, there's no way you gained actual weight. If anything, you might have some additional water retention. Just focus on eating really healthy this week and exercise a little harder and you will be fine. I promise! I was traveling and I indulged this weekend too. I enjoyed every second!
  • As the bacteria go, I am going back on Wednesday. If its not any better, she's going to do the tests and refer me to the specialist. I was just hoping I don't have to go that route.

  • ah!! Thanks! I was doing half the right stuff you mentioned- but I was definitely eating "big" meals (not totally big by caloric standards, but they made me feel really, really full). How long did it take you to get rid of yours?

  • This might sound like a total joke, but for a more than a few months I've been using Bliss LoveHandler and FatGirlSlim. They are two products that claim to be fat and cellulite fighters and I believe that they work. I also have been taking a CLA supplement since January. One of the areas where I notice huge differences is…
  • I'm all too familiar with this scenario, however, I do not have this problem anymore. Have you recently started on MFP, or have you recently re-started (as was my case, after the holidays!!)? I notice when I really start focusing on the nutrition element, things take about 3 weeks to all come together. For me, I do like a…
  • haha I actually used to work at Red Lobster and there's a ton of stuff you can get. Order off the "Fresh Fish" menu-- they used to even have a menu called "The Lighthouse Menu" and it had calorie counts of the healthier options. If you order fresh fish, order a half portion, ask them not to brush any butter or oil on it,…
  • I've been using the nivea firming lotion too. I'm also not sure how much it is helping since I also do a lot of strength training and yoga, but I'm looking better and I notice my cellulite is also improved. For my stomach, etc. I'm using nivea "my silhouette" also. The nivea products are comparatively cheap, and they seem…
  • Thanks everyone! I figured, I've lost 5 lbs, so I might wanna just keep doing what I've been doing anyway. :)
  • I am too. I totally feel ya. Except I stopped for a few months and during that time I ate whatever I wanted...yeahhhh... thus I have gained about 10 pounds since last spring when I wore a bikini for the first time since i was a kid. Fortunately, since I've been working out regularly (and pretty hard) the entire time, the…
  • hemp powder is pretty awesome nutritionally speaking. its a little earthy, so if you dont mind the taste it might be perfect for you. I make smoothies with it, various fruits and spinach and a little soy milk. Other than that, organic soy milk is a great dairy alternative that also has about the same amount of protein that…
  • I used to work in restaurants too. I would carry zone bars, larabars, any meal bar with a lot of protein, or a half peanut butter sandwich w/ me in my apron. Usually things were too chaotic to bring much more. Other ppl I worked with had slimfast type drinks (which never filled me up). I hated the meal disruption of…
  • I do this too. I usually work up a serious sweat... I read somewhere that it burns 300-400 per hour, but since there is no way to know, I just keep using the hatha numbers. I figure any extra calories burned are like insurance for the days that I might go over. That's not very precise, but I think even in each class (since…
  • ahh drinking... I recently cut waaaayyy back (since January) and I've learned that my body *really* doesn't like alcohol as much as my brain and tastebuds do! I'm with you, the next day is torture and sometimes it takes me a couple of days to completely recover. Plus the calories really do add up and of course that's gonna…
  • I'm pretty intimate w/ knee problems as well- they suck! I've been running for years (well, not so much lately) and I've been plagued with a high maintenance right knee too. When I ran my first half marathon, I was told (by my trainer) I probably had runner;s knee, which has to do with the kneecap being inadequately…
  • I say make your own! Fage 2% greek yogurt is rich, thick, creamy, and very low in sodium. Its only 130 cals per 8 oz. so for a veggie dip, a little would go a long way. I mix in this organic dill blend that I got from Whole Foods, that I do believe is salt-free. Also, Tony Cachere's is great too- but its got a ton of…
  • Yes, this DVD is wonderful. I either log it as circuit training or vigorous calisthenics... pretty sure they both burn around 200 kcals for 20 min. And I agree with dvdwhacker- her boost metabolism dvd (has a lot of plyo training and kickboxing) is a legit workout too! Love Jillian Michaels. :)
  • Annie's bunny grahams and cheddar bunnies. they are delicious, low sugar and either organic or mostly organic. also Fage 2% yogurt.. sooo good.
  • LOVE 30 day shred! Its a terrific and practical workout that never ceases to challenge me. Sometimes I will do level 1 and 2 back-to-back for extra burn. Just tried level 3 and let me tell ya, in the words of Jillian, it is no joke! Its the best workout dvd i've ever purchased- plus if you have On Demand Exercise TV thru…
  • That rule by USATF has been around for a few years now... I ran my first half marathon with no earphones (it wasn't too bad- I'll explain in a min) but I ran my marathon and the other half with earphones. I've ran every shorter distance race with earphones. If you are trying to place or win, I think the earphones could…
  • I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. I do have one bathing suit that is very similar to lingerie (even the top is like a push-up bra) and it doesn't squeeze at all like a typical bathing suit. The downside- it was $200. Its a Betsey Johnson tankini and if it means that much to you it may be worth the splurge. I know…
  • I had a dietician tell me once that unless you consumed an extra 3500 calories, you likely didn't gain a pound of fat. At worst, when you increase your calories for treats/ splurges you are probably consuming maintenance calories... so, you are probably ok. :) But, one thing to keep in mind, if there is a gain on the…
  • You could also just exercise more... that way you can at least try to offset the calories with activity, And when eating out stick to grilled fish/chicken/steak w/ no added oils (believe me, they brush and top EVERYTHING with fat- ask your server to have them not to) and salads with dressings on the side, or other whole…
