Self-loathing and overeating
I am mostly in need of encouragement. I'm here to vent. If anyone else is feeling similarly, feel free to vent as well. :b I have struggled for a long time with anxiety and depression. Stress in school has led to me overeating. This past school year was a new low for me, in terms of how much crap I would eat. And now I'm…

Recognizing Stress "Hunger"
I'm finally starting to notice when my body is tricking me into hunger, and am learning to recognize the things that trigger me into stress eating. However, as of right now, I am working on finals. I am very stressed and am (not so) subconsciously looking for anything to distract me from my work. I can tell that I'm not…

Peer pressure to eat unhealthfully. . .
What do you say to people when they want you to eat crap? I am struggling a lot lately with learning to say "no". It is easier for me to eat an entire day with NO chocolate or sugar than it is for me to have a bite of chocolate or sugar. The damned sugar-rush trigger gets me, and I always have more. The one bite often…

Binge setbacks
I'm sure this post has been around, but here it is again. :b Do you know how much a binge can set you back? If you eat healthy all week, then eat way over your caloric limit in a day, does that essentially counter the weight/fat loss that would've begun to happen from the good week? I've been doing really well on eating…

1300 calories a day. Healthy?
When I started up on MFP 3 weeks ago it had my daily calorie goal at 1400. I've since lost 3 pounds, and it has lowered my calorie goal to 1380. 20 calorie difference, not so bad. But now I'm a little concerned about how much lower that calorie goal is going to get. Is it really healthy? I know this has probably been asked…

When you want to say "screw it all".
I have been very stressed these last couples weeks, and I have definitely noticed that I ONLY get insane sugar-cravings when I am stressed. And when I get them, they are very hard to control. Sugar addiction is hard to get over, like any other addiction. My question for you is: If you are on the verge of giving into a…

How long until muscles begin to degenerate?
I know that it takes a few days after a workout for muscles to get fully recovered. But at what point does the body finish recovering the muscles and begin to let them fade? That is, without more exercise involved to keep up the muscle.

Loose stool? Fun time poop inquiry.
In the past week, I've put a lot of focus into eating raw foods and/or just avoiding processed foods. It's been mostly vegan (though I have been a vegetarian for 8+ years.) And my stool has only been loose since I made this change. Is this healthy? Or should something be changed about my diet? I really just don't know.…

Am always sore! D:
I alternate my workouts a lot, and as a result, I feel like I am almost ALWAYS sore. I've been waiting/hoping for my body to just get used to it and stop being SO sore, but that doesn't seem to be happening. My mother has been working out for over 3 years and she says that she's always sore, but that she likes the feeling.…

Do you feel like working out today?
Today I am feeling SO SUPER LAZY. I actually have not worked out yet, this week. And while googling for motivation, I found some. Maybe it'll work for someone else, too. =) http://www.justkeepsweating.com/2011/09/dont-feel-like-working-out-today.html

No idea what anyone can say to help me right now. =(
I have this uncontrollable, compulsive eating. I don't even enjoy sweets when I eat them, but BECAUSE I think "I should only eat a little of them every day" it makes me want to break out of that restriction and eat more sweets than I ever even did before I started trying to eat healthier!!! Please no condescending or…

"Mindless Eating" Book
Has anyone here read the book "Mindless Eating" by Brian Wansink? If so, has it actually helped you to make progress in eating healthier? I'm struggling with my will power when it comes to junk food and can't tell if I am simply not trying hard enough, or if learning more about my apparent "inability" to have self-control…

Tuesday Check in~~~
How's everyone doing? I've had a few fallbacks but am still goin'. This last weekend I overate and I am now at day 2. I'm learning how difficult it is for me to control my eating on weekends, so this next weekend I'm going to make it my goal to absolutely not go over my caloric limit.

Wanted: Anti-Binging Buddy!!! :D
Okay. As far as my diet & exercise goes, I am REALLY happy with how I eat! BUT 1-2 times a week I run into some stupid binge that undoes all the other good days of the week. I hardly lose weight. Sometimes I gain weight instead. I thought it would be helpful to find someone to help me hold myself accountable - and I could…

Friday/Weekend Check-in!
How is everyone doing? I am doing pretty well since I restarted. I am on day 4 now, and I am learning when to say "no" to sugary temptations. =b I pretty much allow myself one chocolate when I feel like it and if I crave another one, then that probably means that no amount of chocolate will really satisfy me until I've…

HOW TO: Get LOTS of veggies! (Recipe sharing?)
I like to have at least 1-2 salads a day in which I kind of jam pack a full & comfortable amount of greens and various veggies. So far I've only had a couple different, pretty basic salads and I am looking for some new variety. I'll show you mine if you show me your's. =b Spring Mix Salad (REALLY good! VERY tasty!!! I…

Tuesday (3/15) Check-in!
How's everyone doing? I hope you're all doing well and pushing forward. I ran into a struggle with sweets...they are my weakness, and I went over my caloric limit 2 days in a row. Alas, I am starting at day 1 today. It's currently my goal to overcome what feels like a sugar addiction. For the next 7 days I will be doing a…

Fitting as many sweets in as you can...
Every time I have a fallback and then restart on my dedication to weight loss, I start out eating healthfully. Lots of fruits & veggies, good amount of protein, and a little something sweet to top it off. But as time goes on and when I work out and sometimes end up with up to 500 extra calories to eat, I find myself using…

Tuesday (3/5) Check-in! :D
I was thinking we could have regular check-ins Tuesdays and Fridays, weekly. =) So here's our first check-in since starting!!! How are you all doing? I'm officially 7 days into my 35 days. 28 days to go. :D

I need some reassurance?
For 12 days I had been doing real well in eating healthy, and in staying within my caloric goal. I also worked out for an hour probably 8-10 of those days. Yesterday, though, I had one of the worst binges I've had in a long time. I don't want to demean the binges that some people go through that I know can be much worse,…

Almost gave up today.
This morning, I had a binge in which I ate 100 calories over my limit. I felt guilty and miserable but managed to get out for a 2 hour bike ride. It got windy, and it lightly rained just about the whole time, but it felt like a victory because I had been so close to giving up and starting over yet again, after 10 days of…

Muscle vs. Stamina (explanation?)
As I'm increasing how much I workout, I think I am finding that my stamina increases faster day by day and I am able to work out more or longer with higher energy. But my muscle takes longer to recover and is sore longer. (Does that sound right?) I was pretty much just wondering if anyone can explain why this is (how the…

Friday (3/9) Check-in!!!
How're you doing on the 35-day challenge? Whether you've had to start over or are still going, you are winning so long as you're sticking with it! Sometimes it helps to accept that we will experience fallbacks in our diet, and it makes it easier to forgive ourselves for them. =) I've currently done 10 days. 25 days to go!

Goal Setting/Check-in
What goal are you setting for yourself? Post here to say you're starting today! :D I'm thinking it would be nice to have a check-in day once or twice a week, though you can feel free to check-in everyday if you want. (what do you think?) =) Everyone will have started at a different day, so say how many days you have down…

**SIDE CHALLENGE: Keep track of your days!**
I have a post-it note in my kitchen. It reads: DAYS OF AWESOME: 35 = Massage After "Days of Awesome" I do a tally for every day straight that I accomplish. It's REALLY cut down my temptation to binge and "indulge" in sweet foods. It feels good and ~official~ every time that I get to put a tally down. Not to mention, it is…

So hard not to step on the scale.
I've thought several times now, "screw it, I want to see the scale". And then I'm like, "nonono, that's the point! Not to!" Anyone else trying to keep themselves away from it, too? I've not given into it yet. It's only been a week since starting the challenge, I can't have lost much yet. I feel really good, though, and…

DESPISE VITAMINS, GAG EVERY TIME
I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. However, I still think that I should take a multi-vitamin, iron & calcium daily. Especially because I'm a vegetarian. But whenever I go to swallow that damn multi-vitamin I want to gag. Sometimes I cannot swallow it! The taste is so horrible. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there…

Reward ideas?
I'm gonna pay to get a massage once I reach my goal! As of now, I have gone 4 days with my caloric limit. =) What are you gonna reward yourself with? And/or what ideas do you have?

Going for drinks w/ friends tomorrow...Can I stay within my
Tomorrow's my friend's b-day and it looks like we will be going out for drinks. How can I have 2-3 drinks and keep it at the lowest amount of calories? With my current goal, I absolutely do not want to go over my caloric limit (1200). Can anyone offer some helpful/informed alcohol-advice? Not to mention, if there's cake I…
