Eating clean?? What does it mean?
What does eating clean actually mean?? I always thought it meant eating foods that were as close to their natural state as possible and preparing meals from these whole foods which is what I do as much as possible (apart from my shakes and tea and little sugar lol). But I often see people say they eat clean but when I view…

Who were you in high school??
I was the weirdo grungy goth chic, who smoked down by the canal and hung out with the heavy metal band boys and took only art and lit classes, and despised just about everyone!, LOL! ETA (Thanks Tink) I was actually a good student, and my art teachers loved me, but I really didn't apply myself to the other subjects as much…

A note to Aussies on Tablespoon measurements.
I just wanted to add this (I'm an expat Aussie BTW), as I just learnt it myself, although I always knew there was a difference between metric and imperial cup measurements, I assumed that teaspoons and tablespoons were abut the same, and in most cases they are, except for Australia. In case you didn't know (and I didn't),…

My issue is I'm underweight and have a rather low BF% (according to my scales it around 14%, online calculators put me between 15-17%, I haven't been properly checked with calipers cause TBH I have absolutely no idea where to go here in…

Leg cramps in kids?
Both my kids have suffered from leg cramps at around 3.5-4.5 years. we always just assumed it was growing pains, but my daughter is currently going though it and I wonder if there is anything that may be lacking in her diet that could be making them worse (we eat fairly low salt (I generally don't add salt to my food when…

A question about muscle.
Ok so say you have been lifting weights and get your body to a stage you like, now if you wish to maintain do you continue lifting at the same weight? What happens to built up muscles if you stop lifting? Do they just melt away. I'm no where near done I would just like to understand the muscle process.

Does protein powder get stale?
So my first tub of protein was only a small 400g (Just under 1lb) I wanted to test it first. Now that I'm almost out I'm ready to buy more, so I'm considering the 3kg tub (6.6lb - 125 serves) and it occurred to me, does protein get stale? This will be around a 4 month supply for me, will it last with out getting a stale…

Girly Business (TOM)
Not really sure where to put this, but I'm curious if others have experienced this too. ...before I stared getting fit and exercising, I always heard of the benefits of exercise for period pain, as well as being told all the things that supposedly make them worse (smoking, bad foods yadda yadda), and I have to say I really…

Never thought I'd buy "that"!
What is something that you have purchased now that you never imagined you would prior to beginning your health journey? Aside from the sports bras and protein powder, cute workout clothing and a HRM which are all things I would have scoffed at a month ago. The thing that really made me laugh a little at myself and realize…

A little Disapointed by NROL4W
My NROL4W arrived and I have to say I'm a little disappointed, Not sure what I was excepting, but firstly it doesn't exactly cater for gainers like me, more for maintainers or losers. Second, it doesn't even include me on the weights and height charts cause I guess I'm too unhealthy (which is why I'm trying to gain), and…

Who many extra calories on lift days?
A little advice please: (I'm a gainer who has started lifting) I currently eat a deficit of -500 (2160) and gain on average 1/2-1 lb a week, if I eat less, for example a deficit of -250 (1910) I just seem to maintain. So how much should I add on my lift days to be sure I eat enough? Right now I wear my HRM and it usually…

So much trouble gaining, Why?
This is a bit crazy, but does anyone know if there is a medical reason why a person can't gain weight? I'm 5'4"/100lbs First week on MFP (still leaning the ropes) eating around 1500-1600. Aiming to maintain weight at that point, set my self on lightly active, lost 3 lbs in a week. (I had no idea about calories at this…

coconut fat = coconut oil???
So I'm still new to the game here, and I'm hearing a bunch of talk about the benefits of coconut oil. Now being in Sweden, I'm wondering if something is being lost in translation, I hear people talk about organic coconut oil, and have seen it here on line, and its not cheap, but there is also something called "coconut fat"…

Healthy high calorie foods
Anyone have tips for healthy (or healthyish) high calorie foods (I'm trying to gain BTW), I'm struggling to meet my calorie goals lately, I need some ideas other than peanut-butter and nuts...It becomes hellish on exercise days, even though I'm only burning around 200 cals, it knocks my net goal up to 2350. (from my usual…

should i continue with cardio?
I'm at the begining of my journey so I'm still trying to find my feet but I'd like some advice. By all calculators I am considered underweight for my height 97lbs/5'4, my body fat percentage is around 16-17%. My goal here is to get in shape, cause though I am an active person, I have never actively worked out, i'm thin but…

Intro!
Really nice to have found a gainers group, this is my first week of attempting to train, and keep my weight on, but as I feared would happen, I already lost 3lbs this week...mostly think it was just teething issues leading to the wrong calorie amount being recommended, Trying to decide if I was considered "lightly active"…

Is this normal?
And if not, whats going on?? I get really cold after my work outs. Granted I'm still not working out really hard, but I do get a little sweaty and heat up when I exercise, but when I stop, about 10 min later I get very cold, I always dress warmly as soon as I've cooled off, but the feeling cold can last for ages. I also…

"Lightly active" or "active?"
Sorry to double post this, but I'm not sure where to put it! I have myself set as Lightly active, I'm a personal aid so I'm on my feet a lot of the day, I move and dress a person, and apart from my own household cooking and cleaning chores, I also do it for another person, sometimes if I add together all my food prep in a…

I'm so un-co!
Firstly, I'm not here to lose weight, I just want to get rid of the softness and pudge esp around the middle, and get some muscle and tone all over. So I have the intentions of sampling a few of the jillian fitness DVDs, and some P90X as well as my hubby helping me with weight training etc. I'm being a bit of an exercise…

Hi everyone, I'm Cocos_mum and I am brand new both here and to the concept of exercise! I am 33, a mum of 2, 5'4" and about 97lbs. I'm deff not looking to lose weight, but I am a weakling, and I'm just skinny with no tone, and I want to change that, plus my belly is a little doughy looking from having kids. I am a gym…
