Walking vs walking and pushing a stroller?
I just walked for about an hour pushing a 2 and a 3 year old in a stroller. When I log my exercise, MFP says that I burn 193 calories for walking a dog at 3.0 mph, but I only burn 146 calories for pushing a stroller. How can this be? It is much harder pushing a stroller. I just wanted to get some input as to houw to better…

MFP Runners-September 17
Good Morning, All! Today I did my lower body, back and abs strength training. Then, because I am officially addicted to running, I did a quick 2 miles on the treadmill. I have a question for those of you who strength train. Do you run on the same day as you strength train or do you alternate days? If I don't run daily…

Running in the rain
I have a 5K race tomorrow and the forecast is calling for a 70% chance of rain. I have never ran in the rain before and I am wondering if there is anything special or different that I should do when running in the rain. Wear something different? Things to remember? Thanks, MFPers.

Scared to death...
I have lost 20 lbs and reached my goal weight. I weigh less now than I did before I got pregnant with my oldest!! Yay me! I just switched my settings over to maintain my current weight. I am just scared that it is going to be hard to maintain. Although I now have more calories to eat each day so maybe it won't be that…

Hairstyle/cut opinions suggestions needed...
I am thinking about getting my hair cut. When it is longer (shoulder length) I tend to always wear it up because my hair is thick and a little bit wavy. Do any of you have any suggestions? I would like something that is fairly easy to style and than works with thick hair. I just want a little change. Thanks guys. I tried…

Granola and Fish....
Not together though... I am looking to buy some granola that I can mix in with yogurt. I usually shop at Aldi's or Wal*Mart and I can't seem to find any at either place. Where can I buy some granola like the kind that comes with a yogurt parfait at McDonald's? I am also looking to start incorporating more fish into…

Mmmm!! Apple Pie!
I found a snack/treat to make that is low in calories and tastes delicious. I peeled and cut up an apple and then sprinked Splenda and Cinnamon on it and microwaved it a little. Mmmm! Tastes like apple pie without the crust--which is fine by me because I don't like the crust anyway!

Do any of you have one of these? I have a couple of questions about using it. Also, where do you place a HRM-above or below your boobs? The manual says to place it over your heart--I'm not wure where to wear it. Any help?

Tortillas?
I need to find an alternative to flour tortillas. The ones that I have been using are 120 calories, 21 carbs, 3 fat and 320 sodium and only 2 g fiber. We eat tortillas quite often and I was wondering if there is an alternative out there. I usually grocery shop and walmart and aldi's, so if there is something out there that…

How may days do you...
maintain a weight before logging it in? what I mean is how long do you wait to make sure that you have actually lost the weight before recording it? I do not want to jump the gun and record a weight only to gain it back again. I just wanted to see what others did. Thanks:flowerforyou:

First 5K...
I ran my first 5K yesterday with a time of 26:25. I wanted finish in 22 -23 min, but I guess that is not a horrible time for only training for 2 weeks. I was so happy upon finishing--I couldn't believe that I had run 3.1 miles without stopping and at an ok pace! Sorry I am just proud of myself! Just thought I would share.…

Kind of a Gross Question...
I have been running 3+ miles a day for the past two weeks or so. I noticed that my toenail on both of my second toes are very sore and the one seems like it might be lifting up (maybe to fall off?). I read a little bit about this online and found out that this is caused by a blister that forms under the toenail and the…

Vitamin help...
I recently began taking a vitamin and it makes me feel sick almost instantly. I even take it after a meal. This morning for example I took it with an apple and a glass of water and within 10 minutes, I feel like I am going to throw up. Any suggestions? I thought about taking it before bed, but I wouldn't even have enough…

Refillable water bottles
I love to drink water at home (from the faucet) and have been refilling the same water bottle. I have read a little bit about how chemicals can go from the bottle into the water and this is not good for you. Does anyone know of a safe water bottle (that can be refilled)? I'm sure someone sells them, but I'm just not sure…

Stretch marks
Hi, I have lost about 8 lbs now and my stretch marks seem to be even worse looking. They seem more noticible. Does anyone know of any lotion or anything else that really works to help stretch marks fade and be less noticible? I am getting happy with my weight and now I am unhappy with my stretch marks--if it isn't one…

For those who have ran a 5K....
How did you train for your 5K? I am thinking about registering for one next month. How long and how did you train for it? This weekend I had no problem running 2.5 miles and I think I would be able to handle a 5K. I kinda want to do it just to see how I do. Any advice?

Treadmill calories vs MFP calories
I just walked/ran on the treadmill and when I put it in MFP it said that I burned 253 calories and when I was done on the treadmill it said that I burned over 500. I know that MFP doesn't account for walking/running on an incline, but woul doing my exercise on a 4.0 incline make that much of a difference? I'm unsure what…

Why should we drink water?
Hi, I'm wondering exactly why we should drink 8 glasses of water a day. I have read over and over that you should drink plenty of water when trying to lose weight, but why is this? Is it just because it flushes out toxins? If someone is in the know, could you please enlighten me? I know when I drink a lot of water, I feel…

I have been doing it for 2 weeks now…

Fairly new here and have several questions
Hi, I joined this website last fall, but fell off the wagon and just got back on. I would like to lose 15-20lbs. I have three young children and weigh the same as I did before kids, but my body looks different-a little flabbier and not as toned. I just want to feel good about myself and be able to look good in fitted…
