How calories are measured in rye bread (Slice size varies)
Does anyone know how companies measure the calories in a slice of rye bread/any other kind of bread where the slice sizes are all different (bigger in the middle/smaller at the ends)? Is is average cals per slice based on how many are in the loaf? Or could it be that the number on the bag is the cals for the largest pieces?

How do you heat zucchini pasta?
Does it make a difference if you bake, fry, boil, or microwave the noodles after you cut them? I am looking for the option that makes the texture most like normal spaghetti noodles. Most of the recipes that I have found have said to bake (too much effort) or just eat them raw. How do you like them?

How do you make shiritaki noodles less disgusting?
I have heard some people say that if you "dry fry" the noodles, the texture and smell/taste improve drastically. As someone who is generally not well versed in cooking, I am wondering if anyone could give me specific cooking instructions. I have only tried the noodles once. Not knowing what I was getting into, I microwaved…

Eyeballing spaghetti serving sizes.
Unfortunately, I don't have a scale and can't invest in one right now. Making spaghetti always annoys me because I don't really know what the size of a serving looks like. This package says that 85g (dry) is 310 calories. I don't want to waste the spaghetti by making it early just to determine what the cooked serving size…

Does anything ever help with runner's knee?
My sports med doctor diagnosed me with patellofemoral syndrome (runner's knee). The pain has recently moved from the bottom/front of my knee cap to the outside of the knee. It also kind of runs up my thigh, making me think that this pain might be IT band syndrome or something new. Either way, stretching, icing, resting,…

Breaking in new running shoes...ouch!
Is it always this painful? I was told by my doctor that I needed to get more supportive shoes for my runner's knee and overpronation problems. I went from old flat worn out shoes (that could at least get me 4-5k before I'd get pain in my right knee) to Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14. I now get knee pain in BOTH knees after only…

Are child sized running shoes as well made as adult sizes?
I am going to head over to my running store soon to get new shoes. I'm looking at trying out Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14s or some other cushiony and supportive shoe. I have really small feet and fit better into children's sized shoes (and this also saves me money). Knowing that most kids don't run too far or train for…

Running: mystery knee problem (outside of right knee)
Hey everyone! So last year, I was running A LOT. Like, a tonne. I was a bit of a running addict (long distances). Nearing the end of the summer, I started getting bad pain on the outside of my right knee (but it feels like the pain is inside the actual knee). I have taken about 5-6 months off from any running now and just…

Permission to binge!
Hi lovely people! Today is a special day! I have met my weight loss goal. I also plan on going out and nomming my face off. Anyone know of a low sodium vegetable broth?
I really love soup, but I already eat way too much salt. I also don't have the money to buy vegetables just for the purposes of boiling them down into a homemade broth. Does anyone know of any brand of store-bought vegetable soup broth that is low low low in sodium?

I need a guide to buying Nike shoes. AGH.
I'd like a new pair of shoes to see if it will help with my knee pain and overpronation. I've really run my Adidas adiZero Manas into the ground...I've had them for years and they probably were not the right shoe for me to begin with. I'm thinking about trying out some Nike LunarGlides, but the problem is that I really…

Anyone else dealing with weight gain after high calorie benders on vacation? I gained 14lbs in one month of wild eating and no exercise. Break from running: How long before you lose your ability?
I am used to running between 8-12KM daily (sometimes more). I have run off too much weight though and need to gain a few pounds, so I should probably curb my running a bit. I am worried about losing my ability though! I love feeling like I have strong, able legs and lungs! How long of a break can the average person take…

Runners: Foot pain on top foot bones
I run almost every day. I used to run about 10k/day. I've had to slow it down because of pain in the bones on the top of my feet (especially my big toe bones). At first, as soon as I put on my shoes, it would start hurting...but there was very little to no pain when my running shoes were not on my feet. I found a temporary…

How do you feel about meal times?
And specifically, do you think it is absolutely more beneficial to eat throughout the day? I often have a small breakfast (banana, oatmeal, etc) and then am not hungry through lunchtime. Garmin Forerunner10 vs 210 Calories & Heart Rate
As someone who likes to run, I'd really like a HRM that has an integrated GPS to track distance and pace as well as count calories burned. I'm looking at the Garmin Forerunner10 and Garmin Forerunner210. The 10 is not compatible with the chest strap heart rate monitor, yet it still provides a heart rate and calories burned…

Question: long workouts without high heart rate/calorie burn
Do you need to get your heart rate up/get winded/get really sweaty to burn calories/lose fat? I have been working on improving my distance in running for quite a while. I regularly run 10k every other day with a shorter run between. I also sometimes do Insanity workouts. When I began this exercise (prior to being able to…
