Hi there, I feel i have been overdoing it at the gym lately and getting a bit obsessive - i only have about 6 lbs to lose and am stuck in a rut. am thinking of taking a couple of weeks off the gym to take daily Bikram yoga classes - 'hot' yoga - to kind of re-calibrate my body and get back on track. anyone have any…

weekend sabotage
I have just had a bit of an epiphany, people! i realized that i have been complaining of my 'plateau' and cycling within the same three/four pounds for EVER. then i went back and realized that every sunday night/monday morning i am heavier. i realized that on the weekend i really relax my eating habits and do less exercise…

very strange feeling in body post-binge
ok, whenever i have a binge (even if it is just a MINI binge, like going over cals) - and may i add this is only ever on sweets, candy etc never alcohol, fried food, etc) - i wake up the next morning with this very weird ache all over my body. it's literally like my entire body is bruised and sore to the touch, especially…

sudden loss??
just a quick question from a baffled idiot! so i have been on a plateau (between 125-127lb) for ages now, around two months. but this morning i woke up, after three days of eating every 2hrs (new thing to boost metabolism) and am down to 124.2! could this be me overcoming the plateau, or will it pile back on again…

Clean, FIbrous, Protein Rich foods - EPIPHANY!
so, basically, i have been on a plateau for AGES, moving within the same four pounds. i only have eight-ish to lose, though. couple of weeks ago i started a new weights/HIIT regime called Tabata and although it's a much shorter workout than I am used to, I already feel stronger and tighter. I had a bad weekend food-wise,…

Tabata Protocol?
Hi! Has anyone heard of the tabata protocol? it's basically a VERY short and intense HIIT workout that is supposed to be excellent for increasing cardio endurance and lowering body fat. since i am only trying to lose the last ten, i thought perhaps doing this kind of workout 3x week, with weights, + 2 longer, moderate jogs…

how is this possible?
ok, so today i stepped on the scale and i am UP 1.1lbs from the same time YESTERDAY! how is this possible? its not that TOM, i drank most of my water yesterday and didnt go over in cals. the only thing is i had some indian food last night - would that be too much sodium and thus possibly increase water weight? i know i…

i hope i've broken the plateau!
Just to quickly check in - in case anyone else is trying to break a plateau as well. i was eating 1200 + exercise and not losing. upped gradually to 1250 then 1300, and still fluffed about in same three or four pounds. eventually i upped to 1500 + exeercise cals. after one week i lost nothing (but didnt gain). it's now…

I need a HIIT guru!
hey all so i was reading up on HIIT (both on some threads here and on the web) but have a question. most HIIT workouts go for only 20 mins max b/c they are so strenuous, and that includes probably 10 mins warm up and down. now when i do my hour of circuit training, i burn 350 cals. but if i HIIT for less time, i dont burn…

accountability
ok i am posting this so that i can return to it this week and know that i have to be accountable for what i put in my mouth. last week i significantly upped my cals in order to break a plateau, but was a bit lax with counting and cheated a few times :blushing: . throughout the week i dropped .4lbs then gained it back (so…

what defines a plateau?
just wondering, what exactly defines a plateau? for example, could it be when you've been wavering with the same three/four pounds for more than about four weeks? or do you actually have to stay exactly the same weight? thanks!

Constant Headaches?
OK so not entirely related to weight loss - but figured if i put this under the 'fitness' tab its kind of related! Lately, for the last week or so, I have had pretty much constant headaches. It feels like my brain is too big for my head (LOL!) what i really mean is my head feels like its throbbing and about to burst!…

Interval training
Hi all, today i did the 'body for life' 20 minute aerobic solution - 20 mins of high intensity interval training. it was defs v hard and i feel knackered now, but my HRM says i burned only 200kcal. Does anyone have any wisdom on why, then, intervals are always touted as burning more fat than long, slow cardio? FOr example…

callanetics/pilates?
i use a HRM for cardio and weights, which has been pretty accurate so far. however b/c activities like callanetics and pilates dont raise the heart rate, the HRM doesnt record any extra calories burned although web sites (inc this one) often cite around 250cals/hr. any wisdom on how to count pilates/callanetics and whether…

what if i eat over calories?
If I eat quite over my calories on one day (say 300 over), does this mean the next day I should eat 300 under recommended or should i just continue to eat normally as per MFP's recommendations and try to forget about falling off the wagon? i find that if i try to eat under calories the day after a binge, this just creates…
