    Good Morning Ladies
Well we are gearing up for a real heatwave here in BC. Predictions for high 30s low 40s C. Probably even higher in the Cariboo and Interior where the wildfires are burning. Way TOO HOT for here. I have the little girls here for a sleepover on Wednesday. I'm going to turn our backyard into a water park for them and stock up on popsicles!! Could be a LOOONG 24 hours. Wish me luck!!

trooworld Sometimes husbands are clueless. What did your Vida coach say about no exercising? What advice did she give you?

cbabie yaaay for just eating part of the cake. My motto is eat whatever you want as long as it fits within your plan. Moderation is my friend. I think our journeys are less about willpower than commitment. You have willpower. You gave up sweets for 3 weeks. So back to interested or committed. Just keep finding things that work for you. Eating plans are not one size fits all. I MAY have thought about you for a bit when seeing that visual.

cmedwards Seems to be hot all over. Well not in Seattle. I just had a friend tell me yesterday how wonderful the weather was. I guess perspective. As a child, my playground was my yard and a sprinkler. I still love grape ice pops. So did you get back to eating low carb and exercising?

So today was a good day for me. I did some speed intervals on the treadmill and some strength training. Food was under on calories and so-so on the water. My bodyfat is going down. Go me!

    Morning:
I totally bombed last night. I am not sure what happend, but it did. Oh yes I do know what happened. I had a manufacturer rep in town and we have talked for YEARS and have really become friends. Well because I no longer work for the company, I can't see him. It was more about someone finding out and thinking I was doing something that my old compamy would think I might be discussing Propietery secrets...lol I cried, he was emotional....sucks..The funy thing is, I didn't want ice cream. That is usually what I am craving, but it wasn't.. I am not going to eat any right now, as I want to break the additction that I seem to have had. I am picking my battles. Today I really didn't know what I wanted to eat for breakfast, but I knew that I had to decide. I really didn't want the carbs in the bagle, but I knew that is what I was wanting. So I decided to make it, track it and now I have to watch what I eat for carbs the remainder of the day. I mopped floors intead of the teadmill today. LOL

@theslightedgeforever yes moderation is our friend...I chose the bagel. (1) only. So happy to hear the body fat is going down. I saw a picture of me at dad's service and I looked fat...it was like a wake up call..

@trooworld sounds like you got some good advise and you had some good responses. I am proud of you!! I know that long commute, that is why I could never "muster" the gumption to go after work. I could get up at 2AM if I needed to. The afterwork thing never worked for me, exept when I carpooled and my boss wanted to go to the Y..so we did.

@cmedwards52 I don't know the conversion, but if yo say it's hot...I say it's hot. Well I hope you enjoyed those little girls..what a fun time in your life.

trooworld Yaaaay for making it to the gym. Have you considered doing exercise DVDs or YouTube at home instead of going to the gym on the days that traffic is bad. Even break it up into two sessions. 15 min a.m. and 15 min p.m. Lunchtime is also another way to get in some exercise time depending how long they give you. Weight loss is still 80% food intake/20% exercise. I think, anyway. So keep working on your consistency. I'm trying to take mine one day at a time. Besides weight loss, there are so many other benefits to exercise. The main one I keep in mind for myself is to stay mobile and walk around like a young person versus an old person. But there is increased metabolism, bone health, more oxygen pumping through your body which reaches your brain and we don't get those "brain farts" as much.

cbabie If you bombed last night, that must mean that you did well during the day. Give yourself credit for doing things right not just when you mess up. Have you thought about using Bagel Thins? You get the bagel but less carbs. For the last month I have been pretracking my food the day before. That way I know when I get up, I look at my food diary and go prepare my breakfast. I have been really successful losing weight this month. 9.7 lbs The old me got up and asked myself what sounds good for breakfast. That usually meant choosing something unhealthy and full of calories/carbs. Then I had to watch what I ate the rest of the day. (which I'm not good at). This way, I know my calories will be under my limit when I go to bed if I just stick to the plan. I have planned snacks in afternoon and before I sleep while I'm watching TV. That way I don't get too hungry and I'm satisfied. Sometimes it's healthy like a tangerine and a cheese stick and sometimes it's a cup of milk and 4 Oreo Thins.

So today was a good day overall for me. Cardio and strength training. Done. Water. Done. Stayed under my calories. Done.

    Good Morning

Well if the heatwave isn't enough, now we are in thick smoke from the wildfires. So my plans for a waterpark backyard this afternoon for the little girls (they are here for a sleepover tonight) has all changed. Not a good idea for them to be outside all that much today. We don't have air conditioning so I guess I will be putting every fan I can find in the playroom and take it from there. Could be a long 24 hours.

cbabie: The conversion? 40C = 104F. WAY TOO HOT for here. They are predicting, with the smoke, we may not see it quite that high (predicting high 30s - low 40s) but I'd rather hot and clear than not so hot and smokey. And to think we are so much better off than the folks who have dealt with heavy smoke for weeks, not to mention those who are dealing with the actual fires, evacuation and loss. :(

Have been doing quite well on my eating or lack of! Had my stitch group here for dinner last night. 11 ladies. The hostess supplies the protein and the wine and everyone else contributes whatever appies, sides or dessert they'd like. I left out the rice, pasta salad and dessert. Oh, and I didn't have wine either. Good for me!!

Have a nice day everyone. I'll touch base tomorrow sometime after my little charges have headed for home and let you know how I've done.

    Cheers, Carol

Morning to all! What a pleasant surprise to get on and have you all posting!
I stayed OP yesterday and was a little under my calories. I just didn't walk. :(

@cmedwards52 Thanks for letting me know how hot it is there. Yes, that is hot no matter where you live. Sorry about the smoke, I know that can make you fell icky. What is a stitch group? I wasn't sure if it was like cross stitch, or knitting? You are doing great. I hope you really get to enjoy those girls.

@trooworld I am so sorry you had some hormonal issues going on. I hope you are better today. I have bought the thin bagles., there just seems to be so many of them. LOL

@theslightedgeforever glad you are getting to check off the check list. LOL Yes I know I am improving, it's just the perfectionist inside of me that comes out every so often. :)

Okay I have to get back to my school work.

Ps I have tracked all today and I did get in my walk. :)

trooworld Just a thought. Maybe with your dh's recent surgery it was making him think about his health and then your health and he doesn't want to lose you prematurely. So maybe that's why he was talking to you about exercise. It was a sign of caring. My dh and I have different points of views when it comes to our health journey too. So he does his and I do mine now. He did comment on me losing weight so woohoo. Someone is noticing it.

cmedwards That is hot weather. Our bodies acclimate to the temps we live in. I hope you had some good times with the grandkids despite the hot weather. Excellent job on your food at the stitch group.

cbabie Shall we lay hands on you and drive that perfectionist out? ;) Look at all the new habits you are forming. I have a picture on my vision board that says, Motivation is what got you started, habit is what keeps you going.

Today's progress report: food was under, strength training done, water 8 glasses.

    Good morning!
I've been on WW since December. I did good thru April then lost & gained the same 2 pounds thru June. June to present I'm gaining.
I am switching my meetings & trying MFP for awhile. I need some kick in the butt to start losing again. It's so frustrating

    Morning all:

I didn't stay OP, it was like something hit me mood wise last night, I was even upset at church..not like me. HOWEVER!! I did not eat ice cream. It's funny I don't have a taste for it right now. I thought about it, but I knew that if I did, I wouldn't stop. I could find other things and I did..LOL I walked again today. I got a new idea, my oldest daughter has found exercise keeps alot of things at bay in her. A long time ago she made me little stickers for my calendar..I never used them, as it was something I did without thought. However, now that life is different I don't do it as a matter of routine. I decided to use them as a challenge for myself. I will get to put a sticker on my daily calendar for each day I workout.

@theslightedgeforever I think you found your secret place...LOL I am trying to lose some of my perfectinst..LOL

@trooworld I think you know what makes you work and with that said...keep doing it.

@charlie9er Welcome. I think we have all been there. I am so glad you introduced yourself. I have been at my same weight for a bit and I am working on finding that one thing.

    Morning:

Well I was over yesterday, but I feel as if I have made another step. I visited some of my old coworkers and gave them my parking decal and laptop charger and some brochures. It was a final closing of that chapter. I feel so much better. I am making some decluttering progress in my house, so again all healing things.

@trooworld Pizza is NEVER my friend. It's one of those things I just won't eat. Someday, I will feel the same about ice cream...but I will ALWAYS love peanut butter. :) I hope the Dr visit goes better than you expect. I am speaking life into that situation.

Morning! @trooworld I am so glad you are getting some insights into your health from your doctor. You know the gallbladder is a weird thing. I have not had issues, but I have heard that the symptoms vary..We will pray the EGD shows more info. Sounds like DH likes to cook. I am sure you will enjoy your night!

I tracked and was a little over my goal, but I tracked. YEA. Finally getting most of my dads' personal things dealt with. Just a few more and that door can be closed.

I hope our other friends come out of hiding. LOL

trooworld, did you make it to yoga? So show your dh that your way works too. But that means you really have to focus on your eating. Strict portion control/weighing and measuring everything. Staying within your calorie limit. Tracking every single bite. How did pizza and tv night turn out with your sil? How about next time, make/bring a salad and take one piece of pizza and cut that slice into 2 pieces. It tricks your mind thinking you are having more. Then you fill up the rest of your plate with salad. How often do you have pizza night with sil? Is this the same sil that you had unhealthy snacks with recently? She might need to be figured into your plan as a trigger. So when you know you are going to be with her you serve/bring some healthy food that fits into your plan and is a friend to your stomach. I didn't have any of the traditional symptoms of gallbladder problems. That being said I had to have surgery 3 years ago. btw, it still won't fix all your digestive issues. So be prepared for that. I can eat pancakes at home but not outside in a restaurant. I have had to go strictly egg or omelette. Going too long without food also presents a problem. So I always know where the bathrooms are if needed. My friend found out that her other medications were the culprit for her digestive issues. She had tubes in and out of both ends and they finally after a couple of years figured out it was her meds. But she needs them for other issues. Losing weight solves a whole boatload of issues. My goal is for one day to be off my high bp meds.

cbabie I like your stickers. Have you been using them? Do you have a rewards list? Yaaay on you staying away from ice cream. As time goes on you might find that you can allow yourself 1/2 c. serving and say no to seconds. Don't you wish your DH would like to cook like Trooworld's? One could only dream.

okay daily report for Friday and today:

    Friday: food-check, strength training-check. water 5.5 cups
    Saturday: food-check, treadmill-check. Water 5.5 cups

    Weigh in tomorrow.

Yesterday, didn't do well at all. I ate 3 caramel ice cream cones....stress was off the Richter scale. So today I say no to drugs...LOL and yes to my oils. On my way to the shower...had to walk through the house for exercise. We are crammed full of stuff in here. All but 3 pieces of furniture are out of my dads place. I have 2 sitting outside to be sold..waiting for a nicer time in the weather before having a garage sale...

Okay gals hope you have a great Sunday!

Totally sick of ww just couldn't do have lost weight in past with them but been stoping and starting for last few years. Although I'll admit I have loved it in the past just is not working for me at this time.

Decided to do it all by myself I think I was using it as my crutch I don't know why it wasn't working just wasn't. Decided to cut out processed dairy and meat from diet so need this to keep an eye on my calorie intake to successfully loose weight.

My weigh in day will be mondays so although I'm around 12.11 12.12 I will post my official weight tomorrow.

I am currently on summer holiday with children which is a Chalange to say the least so in next 4 weeks would like to loose maybe 10 pounds and then take it from there.

My goal weight is 8 stone. I have made a promise to myself to go to gym or classes 6 days a week.

Well yes this is my chalange anyway and liked the group as I can relate to WW. Am struggaling with the thought of counting calories for food but will have to get used to I suppose.

Good luck to us all gunna cancel my ww account tomorrow.

cbabie, do I need to stage an intervention? What kind of healthy goodies do you have on hand that you can turn to when you are stressed to the max? What are some other things you could do besides turning to food. Put that list on your vision board where you can see it.

@toffeepearce Welcome to the group. Sometimes you just need to go a different direction. It sounds like you have a good plan in place now time to execute it. We will be here if you just need to vent or get suggestions, etc. I've been trying for YEARS, but just recently found something that works for me.

trooworld, I'm so glad you were pleased with your pizza night. You can train yourself to have one piece of pizza if you cut it into two pieces and then have a salad. I couldn't eat just one piece if that's all I had and just ate it. It would be gone in minutes. Then what? Pace, pace, pace. Savor your food. What do they do with a hiatal hernia? surgery? I think my dad had that once but then he has had everything, so.......oh just thought, breast cancer he hasn't had. I know it's rare for males to get it, they do and he would be the one. I miss him. This would have been a good story to tell him.

So for today's round-up. Food-over by 300 cals. (blueberry muffin to blame) exercise 53 minutes walking water-3 cups. You can see it wasn't one of my best days of the week. But onto greater days tomorrow.

trooworld Just take it one day at a time. Did you read over those materials yet? Most of my weight loss this past 6 weeks is staying under my food limit. I think I've only been over 3 days in 6 weeks. That's a great accomplishment for me. I have a weekly calories average that I'm shooting for. So even if I'm over one day like I was the other day, the preceding day I was short by 700 calories. So it's all balancing out for me. As long as I'm staying within my weekly average, all is good. And it seems to be working. This will never end as I have to do this everyday for the rest of my life.

Where is the rest of our group? Pop in and say how you did today.

trooworld Sounds like you were really focused today. Good for you. Repeat tomorrow. It helps if we only think about the one upcoming meal. That's mindfulness. It helps us to live in the moment. Since end of June, I've been tracking 100% each day.

charlie9er Woohoo on the 2.6 lbs. Isn't it exciting to lose weight. I'm now in a 12-14 in my tops. I'm loving having baggy clothes.

toffeepearce I tried to accept your friendship request but it said unavailable. I'll send you one and maybe we can connect that way.

    Hi everyone

Has been a very busy few days (probably last 10) around here. A lot of entertaining and with this heat (no AC) and smoke from the wildfires it makes it all quite challenging.

Haven't been too good on my tracking or exercise of late. Water consumption has been really good however. Plan to get back to tracking as of today and we are golfing 18 holes on a long course this afternoon (walking) so that will be good re: exercise. Will be literally "smokin hot" out there but that's ok. We'll take lots of water and should be just fine.

    Have a good one.

trooworld granola bar is not bad it could have been Doritos. When I'm tired it's hard to keep making good decisions. Hang in there. It's almost finished.

cmedwards One of my friends in Washington has been experiencing the smoke from your side. For wind, there is no borders. So track your next meal and start from there. I hope you found some relief from the heat.

    Good Morning
Well yesterday was much better. Lots of water - stopped counting after 8 glasses. Exercise was a full round of golf - walking. Calories and carbs were, if anything, low. Working on a repeat performance for today although the exercise might suffer a touch. Have my little girls over for the afternoon. That does mean lots of steps but no programmed exercise (treadmill, gym etc). Water will be no problem in this heat and I don't expect any concerns with the cals and carbs either. Will let you know.

theslightedgeforever: Some of the smoke your friends are experiencing in Washington State is also from fires burning there. We are getting the combo smoke here too. Coming at us from all directions. :( Predicting possible rain this weekend but its going to take a lot of it to make any significant difference and hopefully it will be without lightning. Our poor Province Just can't seem to catch a break this year. Our friends who live in Kamloops, BC, have been in HEAVY smoke for over a month now. They have discontinued mail delivery there and even the RCMP are wearing masks to protect them from the smoke. Pretty scary times for many.

trooworld: Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like a lovely dinner and I'm with you NO TV!!

Wasn't a great week for me. Just wasn't focused enough. I think the scale will relate that this morning at WI. Looks like a gain - a small one but still a gain. :( Oh well, I'll just have to be much more mindful this coming week and I need to get back to tracking. That really is the only safe way to know exactly what is going on!!

    Have a good one!

trooworld Happy Anniversary! Any TV? Yaaay on your weight loss. Add another lb this next week. Make yourself a vision board or other type of tangible system. Two jars and put marbles in them or whatever. Then each lb you lose you can move a marble over to the other jar. I've been using a "clothesline and mini clothespins" on my vision board.

cmedwards Water is my hardest thing to accomplish. I'm much improved over this time last year and I will keep improving. This has been the worst week for it. Sounds like you have a good plan for next week. Very dangerous with all the smoke. When do your schools start up there?

trooworld Love the haircolor in this pic. You two should smile. You're out celebrating. lol Hang on to a man that cooks and cleans the kitchen. Is hubby ex-Marine? He looks like a take-charge guy which would explain the exercise approach versus your diet approach. But you are showing him. Have another good week with good food choices.

So today's check in- Food-check (barely) exercise-treadmill and strength training water 6 cups

For next week I will be trying to maintain tomorrow's weigh in and going on an exercise hiatus. No strength training and 3 days cardio.

    Good Sunday morning:

I have been MIA, depression and life got to me. I am so bloated, hands are swollen, feel miserable. I haven't exercised at all. So I need to get back to accountablity and life. I did track everything yesterday. I was under, but proabably just because I felt "heavy".

@trooworld great job on coming to the boards everyday, keeping mindful of what you are doing and good job on the loss. I love the picture of you and your DH. I agree with slightedge, love the hair color.

@cmedwards52 I am so sorry your air is not good there. I hope the smoke leaves and good air returns quickly. You are right about the tracking, it is really the only way. I hope you enjoyed your little ones. I miss mine being little, we had so much fun.

@theslightedgeforever great job on your exercises and keeping track. You are doing a great job. Thank you for always being encouraging.

trooworld All your pics have disappeared. I went back to look at the haircolor again and poof. Gone. You look 10 years younger in the pic than the profile pic. At first I thought your dh was a much younger man and I was saying, you go Trooworld. Then I looked at you and thought she is much younger too. Then the pic of your cheeseboard is not showing up. EDIT: Now they are back. :# You have got it exactly right. You are being mindful. That is how we win the war by deliberately choosing what we are going to eat, how we are going to move our bodies, and how much water we drink. Some days we walk down the left side of the road and sometimes the right but generally we just walk down the middle.

cbabie Good to see you on here. It's the little things like routines that keep us healthy. What do you think for you is the most important part of losing weight to stay healthy? Then think about that and take an action step towards that. If it's food, then start conquering one meal each day. If it's exercise, move your body at least 15 min. Water? Then drink a glass. I know your answer is all three. That's your perfection speaking. Choose one and work on that. Then you can look at your day saying I was success. Instead of going to bed saying, I blew it. I'll do better tomorrow. Then success breeds more success and suddenly everything gets easier even if you weren't focusing on the other things. Of course it's always easier for someone standing on top of the mountain versus the one at the bottom. But you can't get to the top unless you start taking a step. What's your action step going to be?

Well first week of scraping WW and doing calories I have lost 4.8 pounds. Don't get me wrong have been on and off with WW for past 3 years and have lost weight with them and learnt a lot but am glad
