@fabgeekmom Me too , thanks! Yes, it was really good and not spicy. Good job with the bike! Happy birthday to your son. You have been celebrating a lot lately, for good reasons! I know you will get back to it.
@gemwolf110 Happy 4th ! I hope you are well.
@theslightedgeforever Ah I see . That makes sense not to go in the pool during the day. That sounds like fun to get in the pool and jump around. Yes, walking up hills less winded was on my bucket list! You will get there. Yeah the knee thing stinks but I think it was pretty minor; it's feeling much better if I stay off of it. The mental switch: I was making all sorts of excuses...no time, no money, no motivation, no no no no! The change came when I wasn't at the rate of loss that I was wanting to be at/expecting to be at. And my surgeon gave me orders to do cardio 2-4 days a week + lift weights at least 2 days a week. I took a good look at things. I decided I could join the old gym I was a member at YEARS ago, it's $22 a month, I could surely afford that. Well, $44 because DH wants to go, too. I decided I didn't HAVE to have an all-or-nothing mentality towards going: I didn't need to go during the week. I could go Fridays after work (I work from home on those days, so I don't get home late), Saturday and Sunday mornings and that would be good. I keep playing in my head what my DH told me: "I don't make deals with myself" meaning, I don't bargain my way out of going. I don't think about it too much, about whether or not I want to go. I just tell myself I have to go and get dressed and go. I tell myself "It's what I do. I am a gym-goer." After I started going to the gym, I realized that I could do more when traffic is light: now, it's probably just light right now because of summer, but I'm going to take advantage of it. When traffic is light, I will do a home workout. It can be a YouTube video. It can be a weight workout. It can be walking. Just something for at least 20 minutes. This week, I haven't done any extra workouts besides the gym: a few days, there was traffic, and also I was resting my knee. I do still work at the same place. The surgery has helped my attendance, believe it or not: I used to leave work early one day every other week or so (usually a Monday or a Tuesday) by about 1-2 hours. I would make up an excuse to run an errand, have an appointment or have a headache. I was really just anxious and a bit depressed. I am not sure what changed but I think it has to do with my body image and self-image. Now, I only leave when I have a real reason to. I can also more easily get books off the bottom shelves at work now. I don't have to ask others to get them for me. I hope this helps! That's funny about the sauna. Good job with the gym and being consistent in both exercise and tracking! Happy 4th!
Hi all. Happy 4th for the Americans in our group! I hope you are doing something fun to celebrate. I am going to the gym this morning, then for ramen with my SIL and DH, and then later this afternoon, there is a free concert in a local park. We will bring snacks and watch the band. It should be fun. I lost 3 lbs this week making up for the tiny gain last week (0.2 lb gain).

@gemwolf110 Happy 4th to you, too! @theslightestedgeforever Water exercise is a great way to burn calories. I remember @trooworld mentioned that she burned a lot calories by doing water aerobics. Good job on the gym and calorie tracking. It looks like you have a good attitude towards exercise and tracking. A lot of it is making up our minds that we can do this. Hi, all. Happy 4th to all of our Americans in the group. I’m not doing much - the usual exercise on the bike. I have half of my dinner for lunch. I figured that since I was eating dessert I could save part of my dinner for later. Tonight we are eating 2 ingredient pizzas. DS is grilling them. We have chicken sausage to go on them.
1 -
@trooworld I forgot to comment on your post. Congrats on the weight loss! You really are an inspiration with all your hard work.

@fabgeekmom Good job balancing out the calories by saving dinner for lunch ! What a great idea to grill the pizzas. Thank you! I appreciate that, that's quite the compliment!
Hello all. I had a fun day yesterday. I am meeting some former coworkers for coffee today so I made them some bookmarks as a gift. We went to ramen, it was really good and I have leftovers for lunch today. We went to Trader Joe's to get some snacks for the concert in the park: we got some labneh dip, some non-alcoholic beers, and then stopped and got some muhamarra at the international market, which is a dip made of walnuts, red peppers and some other stuff...it is smoky, sweet, savory, and slightly spicy. It's one of my favorite dips and I have a very good and simple recipe for it, should you want to try it! We also got some pretzel thins and chips to dip in the dips. It was a fun time but it got slightly chilly when we were in the shade so we left at intermission. Next week (the free concerts are every week in July), I will bring a sweater. Today, I think I will skip the gym: I can only work my upper body and I don't want to do that three days in a row as I plan to go to the gym tomorrow.

@trooworld Thanks for the explanation about the exercise. I'm just curious about other people's reasonings. I was seeing a bunch of reels about people taking Ozempic and how they are now going to the gym because the dr said they should and I thought drs always say that whether there is surgery or shots involved. So I was wondering about people's mindset on this. I just looked at the recipe for muhamarra. I have everything but the red peppers. So I'll go pick some of those up. It sounds good.
@fabgeekmom Sounds like you had a good 4th. I ended up making grilled chicken breasts and smashed potatoes in the airfryer. I think I'm going to take the leftovers and make potato salad tomorrow for dinner.
Today a light walk is planned. I might just end up doing a Leslie Sansone video or something similar.

@trooworld Your day with friends sounded like fun. Nice snacks. Good idea to skip the gym. You don’t want to overdo the arm exercises. @theslightestedgeforever Chicken in the air fryer is always good. I like smashed potatoes. Potato salad from leftovers should be good. A light walk is good. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. The day was a bit cooler and I sat outside for a while. But got a mosquito bite on my leg. DS grilled shrimp and made rice for dinner. I made a tomato peach salad with basil. My daughter and her husband joined us.

@theslightedgeforever Well here's another piece of the puzzle : I will lose the most weight during my first year after surgery. So, time is ticking. I want to try to get down to my goal weight by my 1 year anniversary (December). So, part of getting there is following the doctor's orders. If you ask my husband, he would say "Oh, she always follows doctor's orders. If a doctor tells her to do something, she does it." So, it's not surprising I am doing it. Muhammara is delicious. I don't know if you ran across this recipe, but it is my favorite version of it: https://www.gimmesomeoven.com/muhamarra/ I hope whatever recipe you found turned out well. Did you do your walk? Good job having a plan!
@fabgeekmom It was nice , thanks. No, the last thing I need right now is to injure my upper body and then not be able to go at all. Good job with the swim! Ugh mosquitos! Luckily, we don't really get them here. Your dinner sounds quintessentially summer!
Hi all. I ended up going for coffee to read in the morning by myself. I didn't stay too long because it got hot sitting in the sun. My DH and I went to an acquaintance's book store downtown. I wanted to show her the bookmarks I've been making and see if she wanted to carry them in her store. She wasn't there but I talked to her co-owner who really liked them. He took a sample and took a picture of the group of them and is going to show my acquaintance them and they will decided. But he really liked them a lot. In order to meet their price point, I will have to take less than I wanted for them but last night, I found a way to make them cheaper usnig my Cricut machine. Also, if I don't put the charms on them, they will be cheaper. I thought of a few other places I could sell these bookmarks in town, so I may pursue those avenues. I don't want to sell online at Etsy or someplace else, as Etsy is oversaturated and hard to make any money on. When I met my friends for coffee, one of them wanted to order some for her book club, so I have to work on that. Here are the ones I showed the store yesterday (please excuse the label residue on the table; it's one of my craft tables)…

@trooworld The bookmarks look really nice and professional. That’s cool that you have a business. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. Tonight we are having the family over for a post 4th and birthday meal. DS made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting last night for tonight. That’s our favorite cake. He used a King Arthur recipe. My daughter gave him the cookbook for Christmas with ulterior motives that he would make something good for us. He’s grilling some chicken. I’m making a homemade barbecue sauce, my daughter is bringing potato salad and my cousin is bringing a salad. My plans today are to ride my bike and tidy up the house.

@trooworld love the bookmarks!
@fabgeekmom sounds like a nice dinner!
Had a nice long weekend. Got a few projects done one was unexpected got a vent blocked message on my dryer yesterday so my stepdad and I spent an hour cleaning out the whole system. The message went away after a run of the machine. It took a bit for the message to go away though. Workweek looks to be a busy one. Planning on aqua twice this week. Would be 3 times but have Bible study on the third night.Hope everyone has a nice Monday!

@fabgeekmom I sauteed the chicken on the stove but made the smashed potatoes in the airfryer. Chocolate cake is my favorite too. I was at a bday party the other night and the group was laughing at me because they all get things like lavender and such and they said Just give her a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and she is your friend for life. I said not the Hershey's cake recipe. For some reason I don't like that one. I'll have to go look up the King Arthur one. It sounds old enough that it's probably really good. My favorite thing is whoopie pies. One time my friend's daughter made those for my bday but she said it was so time consuming I wouldn't be getting it again. lol
@trooworld Thanks for the recipe. It's the same except yours has panko in it. No I didn't take a walk. Got lost in my fantasy book. I love the bookmarks. I only read digital books now. I wonder if something like readinggroupguides.com or other such sites would let you post an ad on there. Then people could contact you from there.
@gemwolf110 That's nice that machines have alerts like that versus just starting a fire like in the olden days. How much schooling do you have left? I'm glad you enjoy your aqua workouts.
Today I will get back into the swing of things. My plan anyway. LOL I went to brunch yesterday with some friends I hadn't seen in awhile and got a spinach flaky roll. Left two bites on my plate. I'm learning to stop when I feel like I've had enough. Of course someone will say, are you going to eat that?
Has anyone seen those music punch box gadgets? I think they would be a fun way to exercise. I told hubby I wanted one for my bday. Too bad I didn't see if earlier for this year. Both of us may forget by early 2026. lol
1 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you ! Haha ulterior motives! I bet dinner was good.
@gemwolf110 Thank you ! I'm glad you had a nice weekend. That sucks about the dryer but good you got it taken care of or it could have caused a fire. Have a good week!
@theslightedgeforever You are welcome ! Yeah you don't need bookmarks if you read digital books lol. I want to start small as I am still perfecting the bookmarks: I am using my Cricut to make them now and the bookmarks are coming out with a residue from the cutting mat. I am going to try Goo Gone but until I fix that, I don't want to put them out there too much. I kind of think I shouldn't have went to the bookstore now that I am having this problem. :( That's good you left bites on your plate at brunch. Learning to stop is a good thing. I am also learning that. I am learning to listen to my "Full" clues. I have not seen the music punch box gadgets. What are they???
Hi all. We went to my BIL's apartment yesterday to spend time with my MIL and SIL. My BIL has been in a skilled nursing facility for several years now, so he wasn't there. My SIL got BBQ and we brought a Caesar salad and a cake for dessert. But she had already been thoughtful and got a kale salad, so we brought the Caesar home. I took a small amount of most things. We watched "Sinners" which I liked a lot...it's a horror movie. Now, it's back to work.

@gemwolf110 That was good to unclog the dryer. Enjoy the aqua exercises. @theslightestedgeforever I agree that anything chocolate is good! That is progress in leaving food on your plate. That is hard to do! I have never heard of the music punch boxes. @trooworld You showed restraint by only eating a bit of everything. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie and time with your MIL and SIL hi, all. Last night was fun! Food and company was good. I consider it a win as I only had one slice of cake. I didn’t go to bed with heartburn. Today is a swim day. Dinner is last night’s leftovers.

@theslightedgeforever and @trooworld yes very fortunate with the new machines it alerts ya. I said the same thing that back in the old machines you found out when there was smoke.
as for class, I have 4 classes left and not taking a break starting with the next class at the end of August so will be done by end of June if everything goes as planned.0 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you . I'm glad you had fun with your family. Good job only having one slice of cake! Good job with the swim!
@gemwolf110 That's so good that they alert you . Wow, that was fast! I bet it didn't seem fast to you, though. But sooner than you think, you'll be graduating!
Hi all. I wanted to take care of some things yesterday afternoon, so I left work early. I got most of what I wanted to get done finished. I made a recipe called "Meat Lovers Pizza Quinoa Bake" which is a casserole made with quinoa that is pretty easy to make. It was okay. I don't know that I would make it again.

@gemwolf110 That’s great that you’re almost finished with your classes! @trooworld That was good that you accomplished what you wanted to. Too bad about the recipe. DS and DH are not crazy about quinoa so I don’t fix anything else it. Hi, all. I went grocery shopping this morning. I bought a nice fat piece of salmon. DS will grill it. I should have leftovers for tomorrow. I also got some yellow squash and corn on the cob. I’m going to sauté some onions in olive oil and then sauté the squash. I rode the bike after lunch. I don’t like to exercise in the afternoon but I also don’t like to miss a workout.
1 -
yeah! Can’t believe it’s now less than a year left! Trying to get stuff done in the next 2 months as there will be no time once class starts. Im staying in tonight. Too hot and humid and thunderstorms are coming through. Somehow think lightning and being in a pool won’t go together well.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thanks . I do like quinoa, just this recipe wasn't so good. Salmon on the grill sounds good. Good job with the bike, especially since you don't like exercising in the afternoon!
@gemwolf110 I remember when you were just looking into the program ! Yeah, probably stay out of the pool lol. I hope the thunderstorms don't do damage.
Hi all. I had a busy day at work. My knee is not getting better; in fact, the pain is starting to radiate down the side and back of my calf. I contacted our health & safety person at work since it happened at work. She's sending me to the doctor today. Hopefully I will get some answers. I didn't feel like cooking last night because of my knee, so I just had leftovers.

@trooworld Sorry about your knee. It’s good that you have a doctor’s appointment. Leftovers are always good, except the chicken I tossed because I have been eating it since Sunday. Hi, all. My husband and I took our son and daughter to the airport this morning. They’re in Atlanta and will see Beyoncé in concert tomorrow. We went swimming afterwards. Dinner is last night’s salmon plus a salad and some rice that was in the freezer. Even though DS is not much of a talker, the house seems quiet.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you . I cannot eat the same meal more than twice in a row, I just get sick of it lol, so I don't blame you for tossing the chicken. That sounds like a fun concert. Good job with the swim. Awww, I bet just his presence brightens things up.
Hi all. I went to the doctor and they said I'm doing all the right things, although they recommended I try heat on my knee instead of ice. She also prescribed physical therapy and is going to take an X-ray next week. I was able to go to physical therapy in the afternoon. The PT said I need to work on my stability and strengthen my hip muscles so he gave me some exercises to do.

@trooworld Hopefully PT will help with your knee. Strengthening the hip muscles is a good idea. It’s interesting that they recommended heat on your knee. Hi, all. I went grocery shopping this morning and rode my bike after lunch. So I am going to relax the rest of the afternoon. I’m making 2 ingredient pizza in the air fryer plus making a salad. DH is happy that I’m making pizza.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Yes hopefully . I thought it was interesting about the heat, too: I have been icing it. I guess I'll switch to heat. Good job with the bike. I bet the pizza in the air fryer is good. I've never made it in the air fryer (our air fryer is small, probably too small to do this in).
Hi all. My knee is feeling better, I think because they did a treatment where they shoot electricity through it, the electricity pulses. Also, they put heat on it. I made Skinnytaste's Cottage Cheese Cacio e Pepe for dinner but it didn't turn out well: the sauce separated and it was a clumpy mess in pools of water. I wouldn't make it again. I gained 2 ounces this week.

Hi all, I've kind of been on vacation mode, so only half meeting my goals I would say lol.
Trying to get back in the habit now of tracking and checking in, etc. The weather has been nice here but hot. I've got some great pics of different critters around the lake.
There are beavers sometimes, as below. In the evening I was walking and saw them. I got annoyed bc one beaver was going up above the water to snack on the brush and some guy was standing there with his big dog. Didn't have the sense or decency to step back with the dog and let the beaver have his space so the beaver got spooked and went back into the water.
I see turtles almost every day too, but harder to get a good picture.
0 -
@trooworld I’m glad your knee is better. I was thinking of making that ST recipe but now I won’t. A gain of 2 ounces is not bad even though I know you’d prefer a loss. @its_cleo Welcome back! I know what it’s like to go off track. You’ll get back. Nice pictures. Hi, all. Pizza was good last night. I’m up early this morning. I’m going to work out on my bike. It’s hot here, too. We’ve had a lot of rain but it hasn’t cooled off. DH and I are going to pick up our son and daughter at the airport. I look forward to seeing them and hearing about the concert.
0 -
@its _cleo I'm also trying to get back to tracking. I tracked up to dinner yesterday. The beavers are so cool! That would annoy me, too, not respecting nature. People do that here with the seals: they want to take selfies so they just go up to them, even the nursing mothers and babies. They had to block off access because people are so stupid.
@fabgeekmom Some people really liked the recipe , so maybe it was my attempt. Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm trying to be "in the green" all 4 weeks of the month but now, it won't happen for July. Oh well, I had a nice loss last week. I'm glad you enjoyed the pizza. I hope the kids enjoyed the concert.
Hi all. After working all day yesterday from home, my husband and I went to the gym for a short workout (40 mins) and then hurried over to one of the local parks for a free concert in the park. We brought snacks (mini charcuterie trays, sugar-free candy, and pretzels along with non-alcoholic beers and iced espressos) and enjoyed it. I'm going to try to talk him into seeing Inside Out 2 at the free summer movies in the park tonight in one of the local parks. This morning, we are going to the gym and then I have an appointment to get my hair cut. I think I am going to go dramatic and get a whole different haircut.

@trooworld Here's a link for the music punching box
I saw Sinners. I found the Native American and Irish connection interesting in history. I didn't know about that. So many different reactions to this movie. I'm glad your knee is getting better. My knee suddenly started hurting going down the stairs this morning. It's never done that. Usually going up.
@fabgeekmom I remember those heartburn days. Mine seem to go in cycles. I can't seem to find a pattern of food or other environmental things that cause it. I think probably just obesity. I'm with you on the quinoa. I was thinking I had an immediate reaction to it. It's not that I dislike it but it doesn't give me a wow yummy factor. Although if I would eat less foods with that reaction maybe I'd be at goal. I was thinking last night while I was at a dinner that I think my problem is more to do with movement (lack thereof) versus food choices. I have been seeing more and more recommendations for heat versus ice for the knees. It reminds me of how guidance for babies changed when sleeping. Lay them on their backs. No lay them on their stomachs. I think we are back to the backs now. Eat sunflower oil for good health. No seed oils are bad.
@gemwolf110 Oh you are so close to the end. I know my dil has two more semesters and then she'll be done with her masters. What was your major again?
@its_cleo I like nature pics. This reminded me of when my dd and I were in Alaska. We were walking around a place like this and my dd was complaining that it would take us all day because I kept stopping and taking pics I've been there with you on a mini-vacation sort of. Tracking is good for me. But adding veggies for the most part is not. Exercise is half-half this week. Guess I'm looking for perfection.

@trooworld glad your knee is feeling better . Good luck with the haircut! I’m never too adventurous, lol. I always get the same kind of thing. The concert sounds fun.
I don’t know who was talking about quinoa, but I don’t like it either lol.
@theslightedgeforever I would love to go to Alaska . A colleague of mine went and saw polar bears in Manitoba. I love wildlife trips but haven’t done any in about 10 years….. I have Sinners on the DVR- it always surprises me movies are on tv so fast. But it will be ages until I get to it, I’m always very behind on TV. I just watched Stranger Things. I'm also watching a British show called Line of Duty and it is SO GOOD. But super intense.
@fabgeekmom I hope you have fun with your son and daughter .
Well I tracked yesterday and was slightly over. But not too bad. I’m taking it easy this weekend- well I will go for a bike ride and do an upper body workout, but no classes.
I made zucchini bread yesterday. I don’t normally bake, but I had zucchini and was bored I guess. It turned out okay but it’s just like cake lol, not sure I need the calories. It has cocoa powder but rather than chocolate chips I used walnuts. Still pretty cake-y. But I froze a lot of it, so I can just have it occasionally.
I have some other pictures I will try to post this weekend.

it’s a masters of business administration. So close!!
0 -
@trooworld yeah that would drive me bananas with the seals.
@gemwolf110 are you finishing school? That's great.
Here's a couple more pics. These are red necked grebes. I see them nest every year but this is the first year a) the babies survived and b) I managed to get pictures.
The grebes are great birds, they're super fun to watch. When a baby is born, for a while it will ride on one of the parent's backs. So in these pics you can see the two adults, and a little baby head poking out the parent's feathers on their back. Also another baby a bit more grown.
They're quite small birds, smaller than a duck, but super fast in the water.
Not the greatest pics but the best I could do.

@trooworld Good job on the gym. The concert sounds like fun. You have the perfect weather to enjoy outdoor activities. You also have awesome snacks! Good luck with the haircut. @theslightedgeforever I only have heartburn when I over eat. That happens when my son makes some kind of dessert. Hopefully I am safe until August when we celebrate my husband’s birthday. Good job on tracking. Perfection is not possible. @gemwolf110 Good luck on the MBA. @its_cleo Good job on getting back into tracking. We all go over occasionally. I loved the pictures. My idea of vacation is to go somewhere like a national park and see nature. Of course I see lots of geese as we live near the water. LOL on the zucchini bread. Yes, it’s cake but good to have in moderation. That was a good idea to freeze some. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I’m preparing a salad with blue cheese dressing and sirloin tips for dinner. Our daughter and her husband will join us.
0 -
@theslightedgeforever Oh that's cool ! Yeah that was interesting about Sinners. I'm glad it's getting better as well. I'm sorry about your knee. Are you going to go to the doctor about it? Perfection isn't what you should be aiming for, I know you know that though.
@its _cleo Thanks! I went really adventurous lol. The concert was fun. I probably talked about quinoa, I do like it lol. Good job tracking! Your zucchini bread sounds good. Those grebes are pretty. Thanks for sharing.
@fabgeekmom Thank you ! Good job with the swim. Sounds like a good dinner.
Hi all. I am not sure how I feel about my hair, it's not exactly what I asked for. I'll share a pic of what I wanted vs what I got. The good news is that it will grow out lol. I kind of like it, I think I need to play with it a bit. Anyway, we didn't go to the movie in the park last night. I met a friend for coffee/tea at about 3 pm and we talked until 6 pm. I made burgers with blue cheese on them for my husband and I and then we went to bed early. We are going to the gym this morning. I want to work on some crafts this afternoon.
