@trooworld we cross posted. Most of breast calcifications are benign. The good news is that it was found early. So you are on top of this. My daughter went to Comic-Con one time. That was on her bucket list. She loved it.

@theslightedgeforever Ah , good points about the high-tech fridges! I hope you get the fridge that you want. Yes, at least you have a dryer. I think my MIL has time blindness lol. She's pretty nice but just bad with time. :) Thank you. This will be only the 2nd time I've had to go back in 16 years so it's a little nerve-wracking. I can see why your friend gets mad and anxious. Congrats on the loss, that's awesome!

@its_cleo Good job on the weight loss and your newer lower weight. It’s good to make goals. That’s too funny about you getting too excited about baseball. I’m assuming you pull for a certain team. @trooworld It’s good to have distractions. I think I learned about Comic -Con from watching Big Bang. The pesto recipe sounds good. @theslightedgeforever I prefer not to sweat but a lot of people like saunas. I think in Scandinavian countries people go in really cold water and then a sauna or the sauna and then thecold water. Good job on the weight loss. Hi, all. I woke up again at 4. I seem to be in a pattern. Although I think I dozed off after working the spelling bee. Today we are going to the cottage for a few days. DH has some work to do there. Luckily he is handy and can do the work himself. I’m bringing burgers from last night with salad and frozen French fries for dinner.

@trooworld - sorry to hear you have to get checked further. Hopefully it’s nothing…..they have comic com every year here too, although I’ve never gone. But I will sometimes see people going all decked out in costumes, it looks fun.
@the slightedgeforever I ’ve been thinking of how to change my routine since you posted. I never do anything fun or spontaneous. I’m interested in trying a line dancing class here, but haven’t made it yet. The time and location is a bit inconvenient for me, so that is one hurdle.
@fabgeekmom I ’m from Toronto, so I root for the Blue Jays, although I have watched/rooted for other teams. I know some people that are Mets fans, so I hope it goes well for them. I tend to like underdog teams.
I hope you enjoy the cottage!
I stayed under my calorie goal today although I almost splurged out and got some cookies at a bakery downtown today. But I had already splurged for breakfast lol (bacon). So one splurge and I am still under my goal. The cookies would’ve pushed it over.

@its_cleo That’s very interesting that you root for those teams, especially the underdogs. I’m not into sports. We watch the Super Bowl every year as my daughter loves football. Good job on resisting the cookies.

@theslightedgeforever Oh , that's good to know that most are benign. Yes, that's true, it is early I am sure...I don't feel any lumps. I love Comic-Con, we try to get tickets every year. This year, we only got one day's ticket. We were disappointed but at least we are going one day. I'm glad your daughter loved it.
@fabgeekmom It is indeed . Yes, that's right, they went to Comic-Con! I loved that show. Sorry you aren't sleeping as well as usual. I hope you enjoy the cottage. That's great your DH can do the work himself.
@its _cleo I am sure it will be nothing, but I tend to worry about everything! I love going to Comic-Con. That's cool you guys have them there, too. Great job with your calories. That's good you balance out what you eat.
Hi all. Things are pretty stressful around here: someone hit our car in the condo parking lot and didn't leave a note...I didn't discover it until I came out of my doctor's appointment. I know it didn't happen at the appointment because the spot I parked in would have been impossible to get hit in that spot. There is damage to my front bumper, enough to make an insurance claim. So, I have to come up with the $500 deductible and deal with that. Luckily, I have car rental as part of my insurance. But that, on top of the mammogram thing, is stressful. I decided to make some jewelry to wear to Comic-Con. It will probably be a banned book-themed bracelet...I made one before with the covers of my favorite banned books but I lost it somehow.

@trooworld Sorry about your car and all your stress. The bracelet sounds nice. Hi, all. I had a good day yesterday. The weather was windy and cooler than usual so I was able to walk comfortably at the park. Last night we had burgers, fries and a salad. Today it us a bit hotter. I walked at the park. There was a bit of a breeze. I’m going to walk to the water. I don’t go swimming as the access is not accessible and the water is dirty. Dinner will be a salad and some stuffed shells I got out of the freezer. I made them about a month ago.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you ! I'm glad you had a good day. Good job with the walks. Just walking by the water sounds nice. Nice you have leftovers and don't have to cook.
Hi all. I worked yesterday and at work, they were giving the students free acai bowls so I took one and put it in the freezer for today. It should be good. I made something easy for dinner last night: I took Trader Joe's dill pickle mini falafel and air-fried them. I put them on air-fried garlic naan from TJs as well. I then put lettuce and zhoung sauce along with tzatziki sauce. It was really good. Today is my work-from-home day. After work, I am going to the gym and then the final free concert in the park. Here's a pic of the damage to my car, the estimate from insurance said it would cost $2850 to repair this little amount of damage!

@trooworld I’ve never had an açaí bowl. Your meal from TJ’s sounded good. I agree that that’s a lot of money for that little damage but I’m not surprised. Hi, all. We’re home now. DS made meatball subs and curly fries for dinner. While we were gone he made a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. So we had cake for dessert. I hadn’t expected to eat cake but I can’t resist his desserts.
0 -
@fabgeekmom I like them , they taste like a smoothie in a bowl with an addition of granola. The acai tastes like some kind of berry. Yes, there are a lot of high tech parts on my car, it's a newer model Prius with a lot of safety features. Meatball subs with curly fries sound yummy. Your DS can really cook, can't he?
Hi all. We made it to the gym after work and it felt good to work out. I hadn't been there in a week. The concert in the park was nice but it was surprisingly a little cold. There were a lot of people there. Today, we are getting groceries, going for coffee, and I'm making my shirt and jewelry for Comic-Con.

@trooworld that ’s a shame about your car. And yes, bodywork is expensive. I hit a car in a parking lot once- I did leave a note! And I paid for the damage, which was just bodywork but yeah it was expensive.
It was actually the very first day I drove a new car home, my first time in that underground garage in that car, and I miscalculated.
@fabgeekmom nothing wrong with a treat once in a while ! I’ve been craving a cake myself lol.
Today there is a street festival sort of near me. I’m going to go this aft, but I have to figure out and plan it so I don’t walk too much and aggravate my hip. But it will be nice. I used to go to a lot of street festivals, but haven’t the last few years.
I’m doing ok with calories but I may splurge today at the festival if anything catches my eye.

@trooworld The açaí bowl sounds good. Good job on the gym. I’m jealous when I read “a bit cold. “ We’re still in a heat wave but I read that the first week in August might be cooler. Have fun at Comic-con. @its_cleo I love street festivals! We used to go to them when our son lived in Wilmington, NC. The first thing I thought of was all those quirky British shows where the community has a festival. And someone dies as the show is a murder mystery. I hope you have fun and don’t overtire your hip. Hi, all. I had another night of insomnia. I don’t feel too bad now but know I will be tired later. Plans are to grocery shop and then come home and get ready to go swimming. I’m making a shrimp corn salad from America’s Test Kitchen but air frying the shrimp and microwaving the corn. It’s supposed to be grilled but it’s too hot. And DS said he wasn’t grilling. Yes, @trooworld , he can cook!

@its _cleo Yes, I am so mad about it! That's good you left a note. I hit a car once in a parking lot and left a note, too. That's because we aren't garbage people! LOL Oh no, that sucks that it was a new car! That's easy to do. I love street festivals, I hope you had fun at it.
@fabgeekmom Thank you ! LOL yeah I guess "a bit cold" is all relative! Thank you. I'm sorry you aren't sleeping well lately. Do you know why? You all can cook, you and your daughter sound like fabulous cooks as well! I hope you enjoyed the shrimp and corn.
Hi all. I had a nice day yesterday: I went for coffee (twice), went to a new bar that only serves non-alcoholic drinks and had a nice drink, made jewelry and t-shirts. I also made a list of things to bring to Comic-Con: a bunch of things to make myself comfortable, should my knees give me problems. Things like Voltaren, Extra Strength Tylenol, disposable ice packs, etc. I'm also bringing my knee brace. We are taking the bus downtown to the convention center. I wanted to drive so we would have a place to rest but my husband doesn't think we could find parking. I do think we could because I have a handicap placard. But oh well. I'm sure we can rest somewhere. Here is a pic of my bracelets and necklace I made for today. The necklace features a mid-century modern cat and the beads are dyed quench crackled agate.

@trooworld The bracelet and necklace look good. That’s a good idea to bring stuff to Comic-Con to be more comfortable. I wear a knee brace and it helps. Your husband might be right about the parking situation. I have a handicapped placard and sometimes at big events the handicapped spaces are taken. As to the sleeping problem there isn’t really a reason. I wake up to go to the bathroom and then I’m wide awake. I do all the things like limiting liquids. Luckily most of the time I can get back to sleep. Hi, all. I slept better last night. I got up twice but went back to sleep. Dinner last night was good. Everyone ate dessert- the cake my son made plus ice cream. I didn’t eat any as my stomach was a bit upset after Friday’s dinner and dessert. I ate some figs that my husband had picked from our fig tree. Today I am riding my bike. I might make some fig preserves as my husband is going to pick more figs. We’re going to my cousin’s house for dinner tonight. Her husband is grilling steak and she is making an Oreo cake. I’ll try not to eat too much. It’ll be fun as my daughter and her husband will also be there.

@fabgeekmom Thank you . Yeah next year, we will pay for reserved parking. That's too bad about your sleep. Sometimes that happens to me, too. I am glad you slept better. I LOVE figs! Good job with the bike. Did you make your fig jam? I love fig jam, especially combined with things like brie and prosciutto. I hope you had fun at your cousin's.
Hi all. Comic-Con was fun. I walked a LOT (over 22,000 steps) and ended up using my cane about halfway through the day, I was glad I brought it. We mostly just walked around the exhibit hall. We did go to a panel but mostly to just sit and rest. I bought some things: a Wonder Woman t-shirt, some books, some bookish socks, some cool spooky metal bookmarks, some enamel pins by this cartoonist that loves pugs (they are pug pins), some gifts for my nephew. We got there at about 9 and left at 3 pm. I was exhausted when we got home. I forgot to turn my alarm off today so I got up at 4! I am off today to recover and take my car to the auto body repair shop.

@fabgeekmom yeah there are a lot of different street festivals here all summer . Moreso in June and July….I’m sorry to hear about the insomnia, that’s the worst. I’ve had problems with insomnia all my life, although more when I was younger.
@trooworld glad you had a good time at comic -con! What a cool shirt. I’ve just gotten back into reading this year. I used to read tons and tons then I stopped for about 20 years. Now back into it. It’s been nice.
I went to the festival here on the weekend for a few hours. It was fun. They had a couple stages and some live bands, so after walking around I just sat and listened to some music. I was over calories though, bc I bought a mini apple pie.
It’s supposed to be super hot here today. I will work out in the condo gym and maybe go for a bike ride. I’m kind of bored of exercising. I need to find a new routine or something.

@trooworld I’m glad you had a good time at Comic-Con. That was a lot of steps! It was good that you had your cane. I love the t-shirt and pictures. @its_cleo A mini apple pie sounds really good and worth those extra calories. The festival sounds like fun. I’m always reading something. It’s good that you have a gym at your condo. Hi, all. I made fig jam yesterday. It was really easy: combine 4 cups figs, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and the juice of 1/2 lemon and let simmer. Stir occasionally and cook until syrupy. I made enough for DH and me, my cousin’s husband and my son-in-law. Dinner last night was good and I ate one serving of everything. We were offered leftovers but I said no. Today I am dropping off my car for routine maintenance and state inspection. DS is grilling 2 ingredient pizza for dinner. Today is a swim day.

@its _cleo Thanks! That's great you got back into reading. I'm a big reader. I read mostly on the weekends, but I listen to audiobooks in the car and while I am cooking. What kinds of books do you like to read? I'm glad you enjoyed the festival. It sounds like fun. It's good to change things up once in a while. I hope it's not too hot today there.
@fabgeekmom Thank you , I did! Indeed, lots of steps. Thank you! Your fig jam sounds yummy. I usually buy fig jam at the international store but that is a simple recipe to try. Good job saying no to leftovers. Good job with the swim, I hope all goes well with the car.
Hi all. I am still in pain from Comic-Con: my hips are very sore and so are my hamstrings (although that is from working out not CC). I'm walking like I'm an 90 year old! I dropped off our car at the repair shop yesterday. It's going to take until Friday to get it back. I have a rental car until then. The rest of the day was nice: we went for brunch, came home and I read some. I made dinner for myself: Vegetarian Peanut Soup. It's a recipe I've made in the past and enjoyed; it's a West-African inspired peanut soup. This morning, I have to go for the follow up diagnostic mammogram and then to work.

@trooworld It will probably take a few days for you not to feel so sore from all that walking. I hope you’re feeling better. Your day sounded really nice and relaxing. I’m glad you enjoyed the soup. Hi, all. I picked up my car yesterday and a few things needs to be fixed but nothing major. I found out that I had a credit as the dealership had a rewards program. So it didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. Today I rode my bike and stayed home. I prepared instant pot spaghetti and meatballs for family dinner. Everyone liked it. It was easy to prepare.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Yes . Thank you, I am feeling a little better but still sore. It was a nice day! That's good nothing major with your car. That's good you had a credit. Good job with the bike! I love spaghetti and meatballs...that's one of my favorite meals.
Hi all. I'm still a bit sore today. Yesterday was my first day back at work and I hate coming back to work after taking a day off because I have so much work waiting for me! I was busy all day. My mammogram follow-up went fine, there is no cause for alarm, what they saw was benign and I can go back to my regular 1-yr follow-ups, so that's good.

@trooworld That’s good news about the mammogram. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Dinner tonight is salmon. I bought a pretty fillet. I’m going to freeze what we don’t eat and fix it later. I’m not sure who’s cooking tonight. If I do, I’ll air fry it. Or DS can grill it.

@fabgeekmom Yes ! Good job with the swim. I hope the salmon came out well.
Hi all. I got a call at about 3 pm yesterday that my car was already ready! So, I left and took the rental car back and picked up my car. It looks great. Today, I have to go to PT (I have one more visit after this) and then later today, I have to go to the dentist for a cleaning. I will be glad when things settle back down. Thankfully, it's almost Friday, I'm ready for the weekend!

@trooworld I ’m glad your test results came back okay, and glad the car is ready! I’m sure it’s nice to be able to relax after both those things. ….The vegetarian peanut soup sounds good, I love that kind of soup……
Books- well I read a lot of mystery/suspense kind of books. I’ve read a couple by an Icelandic author that are pretty good, other than the people’s names are hard to pronounce lol. The Silence of the Sea- is pretty good.
I wish I could find other books I like but it’s tough. I used to read a lot of sci fi and fantasy, but I’m not as into it now. I did start the Scythe books. Occasionally I try to find a lighter book, but it’s hit and miss if it will keep my attn.
@fabgeekmom fig jam sounds good . I buy figs occasionally. That’s great about the credit at the dealership.
I have to go downtown today for 2 appts which is kind of a drag. One is a new physio. I’m really sick of physio tbh, but I don’t have to pay for this appt, so I’m going lol. I had to pay for the other physio. I don’t want to get into health insurance here, but physio is rarely covered unless you were in an accident or something, or had surgery. But I managed to get in to the covered physio bc I got a referral from the hospital specialist I saw a while ago.
Actually my hip is a bit better this week. I’ve been trying to walk a tiny bit more.
Calories- doing ok. Actually my biggest success is I met my goal of only eating out 4 x in July. It was hard lol, esp the last few days. I’m going out for lunch this weekend though.
0 -
@trooworld That’s good that your car is ready. I’m not a fan of the dentist even though I do like the dental practice that I go to. I hope you can get some rest or slow down this weekend. @its_cleo You’re fortunate that you can get the physio without paying. It’s good that your hip is better. Good job on calorie counting and limiting take out. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. DS grilled the salmon and I made a salad and air fried some sliced polenta. We had salmon for lunch. I ate mine on a salad. DS and DH get tired of salads but I could eat one every day. Tonight DS is preparing grilled tofu with vegetable kebabs. It is an America’s Test Kitchen recipe.

@its _cleo Thank you, me too! Yes, it is nice to relax now. The soup was really good. In case you want to explore further, here it is:
That's the genre my best friend reads! I bet the people's names are hard to pronounce in those books lol. I loved the 1st Scythe book the best, the 3rd one the least but I enjoyed the whole series. Good luck with finding your next book. I hope your appointments went well. That's too bad the physio isn't usually covered. I'm glad your hip is doing better. Great job with meeting your goal for July!@fabgeekmom Yes , and it looks fabulous so I'm happy! Same here about the dentist: all the staff are super nice and I really like them, but everything is a little painful and I don't enjoy it lol. I hope so, too, although we have a lot of plans so we'll see. I'm glad dinner was good. I used to not like salads up into my 30s because I didn't grow up with my family eating them. Now, I love them, I love the freshness of them.
Hi all. Some colleagues at work gave me this beautiful plant for helping them out with something over a period of a couple of weeks. It's an anthurium plant. I really like it and hope I don't kill it like most plants lol. Speaking of giving people things, my SIL asked if we wanted a brand-new couch she doesn't want so we said YES. It's a nice gray couch with a chaise portion. We will have to rearrange the living room for it to fit but we should be able to make it work. We are renting a U-Haul van tomorrow to get rid of the old one and get the new one. I maintained today, which is better than gaining I guess!

@trooworld That was kind of your colleagues to give you the plant. Also it’s nice to be appreciated. That’s neat that you are getting your SIL’s couch. Maintaining is good even though I know you wanted a loss. Hi, all. A cold front came in last night and the 90’s are gone, at least for the next ten days. The highs are in the low 80’s to the high 70’s. I went for a walk which was nice for a change. A few nights ago I dreamed that DS made us Big Macs. So I told him that and tonight he grilled burgers with American cheese and made a copy cat sauce. They were so good. I air fried some frozen onion rings. It’s nice to eat “fast food “ at home.
0 -
@fabgeekmom tofu kebabs sounds interesting . I will sometimes throw tofu in soups or pasta….I love onion rings. Sounds like a great dinner. It’s cooler here, too.
@trooworld the plant is really nice . I always worry about killing them, too. Right now I just have one, and one stem I’m trying to propagate in some water. And nice with the couch. ….oh yeah I will try that soup. I’ll probably put some red lentils in it.
Well, the physio I saw was actually a sports doctor, I had no idea lol. I didn’t pay much attn when the specialist was talking about the referral. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, they all say the same thing and I don’t think there is much they can do to help me at this point.
I gave up and got a hip injection, and they all say I need to strengthen the muscles around the hip now so I finally decided I will try to find a good personal trainer once a week. I just cant keep going to physio, like I’m just tired of it. I hate it at this point lol. I have been doing physio off and on since last Sept. It did definitely help, but I just need to do something else right now.
The thing will be to find a good trainer, that I’m comfortable with.
In the meantime going to a baseball game today with my uncle, so I’m looking forward to that. The game is 3 pm so we’ll have lunch out before. I’m looking forward to it since I haven’t eaten out in a while.
Hope you have a nice weekend!
0 -
@fabgeekmom Yes , it was very nice. And they chose that plant because they said that the bright color reminded them of me, that I always wear bright colors and am happy. So thoughtful! I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather. Cool to have your dreams come true lol! I love onion rings.
Hi all. I went to the gym after work yesterday even though I had a headache (and still do). I had a nice upper body workout, although I skipped one exercise that I thought would aggravate my headache. We went grocery shopping after that and got all the groceries except for the produce store. Today, I am meeting my old boss at a museum, it should be fun. I have to cut it kind of short because we have to pick up the rental van and get the new couch. For dinner last night, since it was going to be 8 pm before we got home and I knew I wouldn't feel like cooking, I got a fresh-looking margherita pizza with pesto from Sam's that was a take-and-bake pizza. It was okay and it was better than cooking.

@its_cleo A sports PT is about the same as any PT. But I get it that you’re tired of the PT. There isn’t much they can do and most of the time I do the exercises and just keep going. I hope you had a good time with your uncle and enjoyed your meal out and the game. @trooworld Sorry about the headache but glad you were able to go to the gym. I hope you had a good time at the museum. Too bad the pizza was just okay but I agree it was better than cooking. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had leftover burgers for lunch. DS is grilling ribs for family dinner. We’re also having coleslaw and corn on the cob. Easy dinner, for me as DS is also making the coleslaw. He says I don’t do it right.
0 -
@fabgeekmom Thank you . Good job with the swim! Nice to have leftovers and not have to cook. That meal sounds very summery. I hope you enjoyed it.
Hi all. The museum was fun: we saw two exhibits there, one was called "Fashioning an Icon" and was about using imagery of the Virgin of Guadalupe in textile design, so lots of dresses and tops mostly. Beautiful. The other exhibit, "Historic Footprints" was Native American "ledger drawings" from Fort Marion. Ledger drawings are drawings made my Native American captives/prisoners at Fort Marion in Florida. The drawings were an adaptation of materials: they made their drawings on actual ledger paper. It was a fascinating exhibit. There were also contemporary ledger drawings. The couch pick-up was complicated: we had to take our old couch to the landfill (it was not in good enough shape to give away) after we rented a UHaul van. It was stressful driving that van: It was huge and I couldn't see out the back of it because it had this metal grate with holes throughout it. It was just my husband, me, and a furniture dolly getting both the old couch out and the new couch in. It was on a wing and a prayer that we got through that. The new couch is too big for our space (I thought it might be) but it is better than our old couch. We will have to get a new coffee table as the current one is too big with the couch. Also, the new couch is a sectional and the connectors to keep the sections together are damaged, so on one side, we need to replace the connectors. It's turned into a bigger project than we thought.
