@fabgeekmom yeah lots of geese here , too. Too many actually- once in a while they try to relocate some. Dinner sounds great! I like blue cheese but never eat it.

@trooworld , I think your hair looks nice! And yeah, sometimes it takes a while to play with/get used to. Maybe it needs a week or two. I will say short hair can be really challenging to keep up, I used to have short hair. Now I have like long-ish bob, and it is the easiest for me.

So yesterday I had a couple drinks, so I was over calories but I weighed out my snacks before so that helped. I stuck to the snacks I had pre-planned.

@trooworld The haircut looks good. It’ll take a while to get used to a new hairdo. The burgers sound good. Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning and it was really hot. I missed going outdoors. I’ve been eating a lot of tomatoes this summer as DH has tomato plants in the front and back yard. I cut up a cantaloupe and watermelon for lunch today. We’ve been eating a lot of summer fruit. Tonight we’re eating at our daughters’s house.

@its _cleo Thank you! Yeah maybe. Right now, I'm not too happy with it lol. I used to have a bob, it's my favorite haircut, I have had a bob for many years. I just wanted something different though (and I got it lol). That's good you weighed out your snacks and you pre-planned them. Way to go!

@fabgeekmom Thank you ! The burgers were really good. I love homegrown tomatoes! We don't have any but I remember the flavor difference when growing up. We've been eating a lot of summer fruit, too. I got these "plum cherries" from Sam's Club last week, they are a hybrid of plums and cherries and I really like them.

Hello all. I had a busy day yesterday. I went to the gym in the morning and then I had to cram a bunch of errands into the day as I put them off to enjoy Saturday. I did enjoy taking a nap yesterday. I got up too early today: I woke up at 3:30, which is 30 minutes before the alarm goes off. I just got up. Last night, I made Honey Garlic Pork Loin for dinner with a copycat Olive Garden salad and croutons I made in the air fryer. It was a good dinner.

@trooworld You really did have a busy weekend! I’m sure a nap felt good especially since you get up so early. Dinner sounded good. Hi, all. I went to the recreation center and worked out on the recumbent elliptical and then went grocery shopping. We needed some fruit and ingredients for salad. We had a thunderstorm while I was in the store and managed to get back to my car before it got too bad. It seems we have a lot of storms this summer. DS was supposed to grill 2 ingredient pizzas but now will prepare them in the oven.

@gemwolf110 I've heard the MBA is a very good degree to have.

@its_cleo Good for you for sticking to your pre-planned snacks. That's half the battle.

@fabgeekmom Lots of geese around my daughter's area. Too much poop on the sidewalks though while I'm walking. But I love to watch them though. I love walking outside too. The weather is crazy this year I think. I'm ready for pumpkin season which means walking outside enjoying nature.

@trooworld If I go to the dr he will say either ice/heat. Stretch and strengthen the muscles around the knee. LOL It's feeling better today. So I will stretch today. Just thought about it and I did legs on Thursday. Wonder if I did something there. I never get a haircut that I like. It's never like the picture. So I just try to do something with it. If I was rich I would have a glam squad. Just sit there every morning and let them do their thing. If I'm dreaming why not have a trainer and nutritionist at my beck and call. Although I would have to have more of the Bob Harper kind and not Jillian Michaels.

Now that you have been talking about burgers I want one. lol I had brunch with a friend yesterday and were discussing cheeseburgers. She said she tried using rice paper instead of a bun. I've never eaten rice paper but my first thought was eating the thin wrapper that a cheeseburger comes in. lol Second thought was Asian food which I don't like for the most part and said , Uh no thank you. So that is my comfort zone and now I'm trying to step out and venture. I found this. Reduce the amount of sesame seeds cause ick….

    https://www.tiktok.com/@thechefoutwest/video/7511405879464299782

Maybe I will try that. I need to do the carbs cause if it ends up being the same, I'm using a darn bun. LOL Plus I was telling her that I don't like to make me beef when I'm already making chicken for hubby. Just one more thing I have to do. She says it just takes a minute.

So any advice about rice paper?

@fabgeekmom The nap on Sunday felt nice . I got up early on Monday, unfortunately. No nap for that day. Good job at the rec center! Oh gosh, I'm glad you made it back to the car before it was too bad. Good idea to switch to the oven.

@theslightedgeforever Yes , that's probably what he will say lol. I'm glad it is feeling better now. A glam squad would be nice to have. I used to put on a full face of makeup when I was in my 20s and 30s but I gave that up in my 40s and 50s. Now, I will put on lipstick and that's it lol. Yes, why not have a trainer and nutritionist as well lol. I agree, I don't need someone yelling at me, I'd cry! :) That's a unique idea to use rice paper for a burger. I don't know that I would like that. Okay, that thing on Tik Tok does look pretty good. I would be willing to try that lol. Rice paper can be tricky to work with: I've used the round discs to make spring rolls. They get soft VERY quickly/ready to use, and you have to take them out of the water right before they are super soft or they are impossible to work with. There is just a slight learning curve. How's @cbabie ? She hasn't popped in here in a while. Tell her I said to come back in and say "HI"!

Hi all. I was supposed to have PT yesterday afternoon but the PT therapist was out sick. My knee is feeling a lot better so I hope the next time I go, they say I don't have to go back. I am trying to decide if I want to take Friday off to do some crafts and just enjoy the day. I think I may.

@trooworld glad the knee is coming along . Sounds like a nice day Friday- I say go for it. ….I can’t really nap, I wish I could. Occasionally I see people sleeping in the office in the lounge area, like at lunch. I have no idea how people can do that. Well, actually it’s always the same guy lol.

@theslightedgeforever if I have a burger at home , I just have the bun on bottom, then eat it with knife and fork. It’s just too much for me otherwise.

@fabgeekmom we haven ’t had too many storms here, but it has been pretty hot and muggy. I had to turn the AC on again, though I keep it at very low setting.

Well I stuck to calories yesterday, though it was hard. I’m just not very motivated. Not sure why. Not sleeping well this week, that may be part of it.

I have to go downtown tomorrow. Then Thurs I might try a new class at the gym. Sounds like a mix of resistance training with some other stuff. I’ve been curious about it for a while. My success this week is kind of weird- my back and left shoulder in particular are usually very tight and restricted movement. So I try to do mobility work, like 10 mins a day. Yesterday I could finally move my left arm/shoulder in one of the movements successfully. It was kind of amazing, you know that moment when you're like- hey I can touch the floor! It was a stretch but still I couldn't do it before.

    trooworld Posts: 8,004 Member

@its _cleo Thanks, me too! I wouldn't be able to sleep at the office, I can sleep in my car on lunch though lol. Good job sticking to your calories. How's your hip? That's great that you can now touch the floor.

Hi all. After I posted my update, we realized our refrigerator wasn't cooling the food. The freezer was fine, but the fridge? Not. So, I went to work and got off at 10:30 to deal with the fridge. We took everything out of the freezer and threw some stuff away (it was overpacked) and put everything back in more orderly. We threw out most of the stuff in the fridge, so now we have a nice and empty fridge. We are hoping the overcrowding of the freezer is what was causing the problem. Today, it seems a little cooler. I read that it can take 24-48 hours for it to get back to the proper temperature, so we'll see. I just don't want to have to call the repairman. So, now I can't take Friday off. :( I did do some crafts after we dealt with the fridge.

@trooworld Sheesh, if you have trouble working with the rice paper I don't think I could do it. Although now I'm thinking about those sheets you use for baklava. Probably too messy and crumbly for me. I'm having same problem with my fridge. I keep telling hubby we need a new one but he's determined to just let it completely break and then we'll buy one. I'm like but what will we do with all the food that is inside and we'll be throwing away. We know it's not going to get better. Well I do. lol I'll tell @cbabie I barely talk to her. I send her memes. I think having the kids home during the summer takes up all of her time.

@its_cleo Woohoo on sticking to calories. We only have to do it for just today. Then tell ourselves that tomorrow. I know I've tried bagel thins before when I'm focusing on healthy eating and then other times automatic habits show up and I just grab a pack of buns. I love potato buns. I don't buy very often because I could just toast those and spread with butter and grape jelly til they are gone. (not good for me) When I think of all the habits that I used to do I should be thinner. I love an afternoon nap but then I feel guilty. My mother's doing probably. Why rest when you can work. It's called siesta time. After I was older and learned about siestas I told my mother that saying whole cultures can't be wrong. I need to do mobility work too.

I did some mini trampoline yesterday for 10 min. Weights for 30. Dancing for 10. Then stretching for 12. Lots of sweat. I noticed how fluid my body was while I was dancing like I was the energy bunny and then later just getting up off the couch it was like I could barely walk. My body is strange these days. Today will just be some cardio on the treadmill later. I'm trying to find a good time that I can make a habit of it. I just keep trying different time slots.

@theslightedgeforever When I want a burger I eat it on a bun. I find some 100 calorie buns at my local supermarket. @its_cleo Good job on tracking calories. I hope you enjoy your new class. @trooworld Too bad about your refrigerator. I hope it’s still working okay. It does take a while to completely freeze or cool. Hi, all. I got busy yesterday and forgot to post. I got up early and went for a walk as DH had an early dentist appointment. Last night was family dinner and I made a Skinnytaste slow cooker chicken recipe. Today we are going to our cottage near Nags Head. It’s going to be cloudy so hopefully I can walk at the park.

Great, it will post what I manually write in this box but not what I copy and paste. Geez.

@theslightedgeforever You might be fine , you just have to be quick. Ugh I hope you don't have to let it completely break before you get it repaired: we called the repair guy and it's a bad fan and will cost $280 to repair (parts & labor). Much cheaper than buying a new fridge. And the cost of all the food you'll throw away. That's man logic for you lol, my husband probably would think the same thing! :) Oh right, I bet she's busy with the kids. Good job with the exercise! I hope you can find the right time to make it a habit.

@fabgeekmom Thanks . I wondered what happened to you yesterday, I figured you were busy. Good job with the walk! I hope you enjoy the cottage visit. Will you be gone multiple days or do you just go for the day?

Hi all: I'll keep this short as what I wrote in Notepad was long and I can't get it to paste. The repairman came and it will be $280 to replace a fan. Cheaper than a new fridge. My DH had an allergy attack and I had drama with that yesterday morning and was late to work. He's feeling a bit better but his eyes still hurt.

@trooworld my hip – ah it’s ok if I don’t walk too much. I’m back to physiotherapy off and on and he does something like acupuncture that helps it. It’s called dry needling. It’s amazing how well it works actually for reducing pain. But I still have to be mindful of activity.

What a pain about the fridge! At least you don’t have to buy a new one. I’m trying not to repair anything here unless I have to lol. I have 2 lights in the bathroom and one is failing I think, but I’m not sure I can replace it myself, bc it’s embedded in the ceiling. So I figure as long as the other one works I’m fine lol. If they both go I would have to get an electrician I guess. Actually now that I think of it, there are three lights in the bathroom, which is kind of overkill.

@theslightedgeforever siestas would be nice . I will say a lot of days by 3pm I feel done lol. Trampoline sounds fun. Haven’t been on one since I was a kid.

@fabgeekmom 100 calorie buns are great . Enjoy your time at the cottage.

I’m not in a great mood today, though I’m not sure why. Work is quiet. We’ve been worried about that, like our client requests are down. Anyway, today I will do my physio exercises, and then an upper body workout. Then a class at the gym.

Yesterday downtown I had lunch out so that is ¾ for the month. I’m struggling with what to make for lunch for the next few days. I’m tired of sandwiches and I don’t want soup. I would make a salad with some salmon or another protein on the side, but I won’t be able to get salad stuff til Sat.

@trooworld That’s good that you got the refrigerator repaired. Too bad about your husband’s allergy attack. @its_cleo I have had dry needling and I had okay results. I’m glad it helps you. It’s always a struggle when things don’t work in a house. Sometimes I use skinnytaste .com for meal ideas. Hi, all. We spent the night at the cottage. We ate lunch at a seafood restaurant. DH got fried oysters, French fries and coleslaw. I had a salad with salmon. I did eat one of his fries. It was raining most of the day and when the rain stopped, it was too humid to go outside. I did a Peloton cardio workout. We’re going home today and I’ll ride my bike while I do laundry. I’m not sure what’s for dinner.

@its _cleo I've heard of dry needling but never have had it done. I used to go to an acupuncturist. I'm glad it helps you. Good to be mindful of activity. Yeah, we lost a lot of food but at least it's empty now so I can properly clean it lol. And yes, didn't have to buy a new one. Yeah all you need really is one decent light lol. Sorry about your mood. I hope work picks up soon. I hope you figure out something to make for lunches.

@fabgeekmom Yeah thanks ! Sounds like a nice time at the cottage...relaxing. Good job with the workout.

Hi all. The fridge is repaired so that's good. Work was nice yesterday: my manager was working from home and the only other person with seniority over me was out for the day...it was just me and two others that don't get in my business lol. Not that I slacked off too much (just a little lol). Tonight after work, we are going to the gym and then to the concert in the park. But first, this morning, I have to go to get a mammogram. I'm very good about getting one every year when it's due.

@trooworld I’m glad that everything is going well for you. The concert and gym will be fun. Are you able to do your leg exercises? It’s good that you keep up with your mammograms. I do, too. Hi, all. Yesterday my son prepared citrus grilled chicken breasts, blue cheese coleslaw and tater tots for dinner. It was so good! I had some chicken on a salad for lunch today. Today was a swim day. Tonight is steak night. We have leftover slaw and baked potatoes in the air fryer.

  • trooworld
    trooworld Posts: 8,004 Member

@fabgeekmom I haven't been doing the PT exercises, partially because I am feeling better and partially because I have such limited time before and after work that I am reluctant to spend any of that time on the exercises for something that is feeling better. Yes, mammograms are so important, I'm glad to hear you do yours, too! That does sound like a good dinner! Good job with the swim. I hope you enjoyed dinner.

Hi all. My husband wanted to skip the gym and get coffee before the concert as he was tired, so that's what we did. We ended up getting to the concert after it already started so we had to sit far from the band and couldn't see people dancing. Next week, we'll get there earlier. I'm not sure we are going to the gym this morning. I assume we are, but we have to do a lot today: we are going to a family reunion 2 hours away and have to make macaroni salad for it. We also have to pick up my MIL to go with us, and also pick up ribs from a restaurant. It depends on how late my husband sleeps in. I was able to do some crafts yesterday: I made some Halloween pins and earrings of my dogs' faces using printable shrinky dinks + UV resin. I'm happy with how they turned out, I have to redo a couple of the pins but overall, they are cute.

@fabgeekmom The cottage mini-vacay sounded nice. Too bad about humdity. I'm fine sitting in a steam room or sauna but don't ask me to go out and walk in the humidity. LOL It's all mental for me. That needs to change.

@trooworld Yes a new fan is better than a new fridge. This one I've had since 2009 so maybe a new fridge would be nice. Sorry about your hubby's eyes. Mine are extremely dry this year. I need to schedule my mammogram. I'm about a two months overdue. Cute little pins. I love the pug ones.

@its_cleo You sound restless. I get that way sometime. It's like I just need a small break from my routine. Be it work/food/etc. Problem is sometimes a small break turns into a big one for me. But yet I'm having a hard time finding the right balance to just pause and then restart what I know works.

I'm over here still trying to work on a meal plan that I can live with and not get bored. Plus be consistent in my workouts. I'm about 50% on that. Which isn't bad because I'm not 50% on other things I need to be doing so maybe exercise is becoming a habit for me. No matter how slowly

    fabgeekmom Posts: 915 Member

@trooworld That makes sense about not doing the exercises. I’m glad you are feeling better. Too bad about getting to the concert late. The pins and earrings look nice. @theslightedgeforever 50% is better than nothing. You know what to do. I understand that it’s hard to do what we need to do. I don’t think I could stand a sauna. I went out to take out the trash and fell like I was in one. Hi, all. I stayed home today. I rode my bike. My son prepared ribs on the grill. They were really good. My daughter joined us. My husband and I shared a piece of coconut cake that my cousin had given us a few weeks ago. We ate it frozen right out the freezer. It was really good as I hadn’t eaten any cake since my birthday celebrations. Luckily there was only one piece!

@theslightedgeforever Oh yes , that would be nice then. Would you want to get one of those fancy new ones that you can knock on the door and see what's inside? Or just a nice newer one? Thanks. His eyes are better now. I wonder what it is about this year that your eyes are so dry? Make that appointment! Thanks, I had fun making them. I have to redo a couple because the pinbacks got resin'd shut. It's impossible to get it unstuck. Sometimes it's hard to make a meal plan...we want certain things out of it and it can be difficult to juggle all our factors. 50% is a great start on the exercise.

@fabgeekmom Thank you ! Good job with the bike. I'm glad you enjoyed dinner. Good to get the cake out of the house!

Hi all. I know you've heard me complain about my MIL's lack of respect for other people's time, well yesterday took the cake: she wanted to get a few things for the party to take with us, so she asked us to pick her up at the grocery store. We said we would pick her up at 10:00 as we knew she would be a little late as usual, but she knew we had to pick up the ribs at the restaurant at 11. At 9:50, I called her to tell her we were on her way and she said she wasn't even at the store yet. So I said fine, we'll pick you up after we get the ribs. We got the ribs and got to the store and she said, "I'm heading towards the checkout lane" so we thought she would be out in 5 minutes. 20-25 minutes later, she was finally coming out. Keep in mind, we were supposed to be there at noon. Then, she wanted to stop at my BIL's apartment (where she has been staying) and drop off a few things, go to the bathroom, and eat something so she could take some medicine. It was as if she had no idea we were already so late. We finally left at 1:15, we got to the party at 3:00 pm. The party was fine, except I was intimidated by all the people. I ended up calling one of my husband's cousins the wrong name. We didn't get home until 8:45 last night.

@trooworld That’s too bad about your reunion experience. From an earlier post, I’m not surprised that your MIL was late. It’s really not that terrible that you called a cousin by the wrong name. After all, I’m guessing that you don’t see these people too often. Hi, all. This morning we are going swimming. We don’t usually go on a Sunday but we won’t be able to go much this week. Tonight we eat at our daughter’s house. She will prepare something healthy.

@fabgeekmom Thank you . Right, I shouldn't have been surprised, either! Yeah, I see these people maybe once a year. You are right. I hope you enjoyed swimming and dinner.

Hi all. I was home most of the day yesterday besides morning coffee and grocery shopping. We took the whole weekend off from the gym but will get back at it on Friday. I cleaned off my desk and replaced an older monitor. I am in the process of getting rid of my desktop. I just need to move some files from that to my laptop. Today, I have work and then physical therapy. I'm hoping they will release me from it because my knee is feeling better. I felt like I slept really well last night: I only got up to go to the bathroom once! I usually get up 3-4 times. I know when I went to bed, I was really tired.

@trooworld I’m sure it was good to be home and get stuff done. That’s awesome that you slept well and only got up one time! Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. My daughter made crockpot barbecued chicken with coleslaw, Skinnytaste baked beans and roasted green beans. Today I need to go grocery shopping to get ingredients for an America’s Test Kitchen recipe for grilled turkey pitas with cucumber salad. DS is making grilled pitas with 2 ingredient dough. I think I’ll go to the recreation center first so I can get my exercise done before my shopping.

@fabgeekmom Yes , it was nice. I'm glad you enjoyed dinner. It sounds fantastic! Sounds like you have another good dinner planned. I hope you enjoy your day.

Hi all. Yesterday was a busy day at work, and after work, I went to physical therapy. I hinted around that I was feeling better and my knee wasn't hurting in hopes that they would release me but they didn't give me the impression they would. I do see the doctor tomorrow so hopefully she will release me then. I got my results back from my mammogram. I have to go back for a follow-up. They saw something they are concerned about. It's probably nothing: I have dense tissue in my breasts, so it makes it hard to read my mammograms. It happened before, and they had to do a biopsy and it was nothing. So, I'm not too concerned. I am a little, though.

@trooworld I can understand that you are concerned about the mammogram. I’ve had that happen to me and I found out that it was nothing, just dense breasts. But it’s still worrying. Hi, all. I’m up early today. I woke up at about 4 and never got back to sleep. I have already worked the NYT Spelling Bee. I’ll be tired today and will probably sleep better tonight. We’re going swimming after breakfast. Our hairdresser is coming today to cut our hair. I’m looking forward to dinner. I think I already mentioned that we are having turkey pitas. Tonight is family dinner.

@trooworld I hope the appointment goes well . At least it’s quick, and you don’t have to wait a couple weeks for it.

I’m almost 49, never had a mammogram, I actually just got the notice I can start to book them if I want. I thought I would wait until after I was 50. I’m just sick of appts.

I hope the issue is resolved with your knee soon- sounds like it’s coming along. I hope you have some nice plans tomorrow for afterward, or on the weekend. Something to look forward to.

@theslightedgeforever yes - I am stuck in routine for sure. I just don’t know how to get out of it lol. And yes finding that right balance with breakes is tough.

Actually this week, I’ve been thinking about turning 50 (next year) and I thought this week I would make a list of all the things I want to do that decade- like trips and so forth. I guess like a bucket list lol. Not that I will be able to do it all but you have to be able to start somewhere.

@fabgeekmom I hope the haircuts turn out well . I hate waking up early like that. Turkey pita sounds nice.

I’m ok doing sort of ok with my goals. My weight was down pretty good today. The weather has been gorgeous. I’ve been binge watching baseball- I can get really into it lol. But I might need a break after today. It also gets me riled up lol. Not sure it’s good for my heart for me to be yelling at my television. 😊 Or cheering.

@its _cleo Thank you, yes. I've been getting yearly mammograms since I was 40. I figure it's relatively quick and could save my life, so I'll do it even though, like you, I am sick of all the appointments! I just told my manager yesterday I was sorry for all the appointments lol. Yes, the knee is much better, thanks. I do: Comic-Con International is a pop culture convention that takes place here in San Diego, the largest convention of its kind...it's this weekend and we are going on Sunday! That's a good idea to make a list of things you want to do. I'm glad you are doing okay and the weather is nice, it's been nice here, too. Congrats on the low weight!

Hi all. I made a follow-up appointment with radiology: they will do some further imaging to determine what is going on. The appointment is next Tuesday morning. I'm a little nervous: they found breast calcifications in my right breast, which can be an early sign of breast cancer. We'll see, I guess. I am glad I have Comic-Con coming up to distract me from thinking about it. I am going to try to find the time to make some new pop culture jewelry and a t-shirt to wear to the convention. I am going on Sunday. For dinner last night, I made Kale-Walnut Pesto Pasta. It's a favorite recipe: it's very easy to make and delicious.

    Water yesterday: 48 oz

My phrase for the year: “A new era of me.”

@fabgeekmom Sauna: I think it's all mental. I don't like sitting in the house sweating (which I'm currently doing cause I don't want to pay higher electricity bills more than necessary) I don't like going outside doing errands where I sweat. But I don't mind sweating in a sauna. I'm relaxing. Back in college days I would go do aerobics at the student center and then off to do a sauna. It was the most heady experience. I had no trouble exercising consistently then. So I'm trying to recreate that once a week. I would do it more often but it turns into a 3 hr event because I have to drive over to the gym. So I guess I just need to go sit outside and pretend I'm in the sauna on the other days. lol I tried sitting in the massage chair but that doesn't seem to motivate me. Good on you for the one piece. I like coconut in things only if it's finely grated. I need to try crockpot bbq chicken. Anything to save time.

@trooworld New fridges: I've been reading about refrigerators and the newer high tech are terrible to have for maint issues. Because you need specialized people to work on them. Plus are the spare parts available. I would like to have one where there is a small drawer in the middle. My friend has that for her deli meats, cheeses, etc. If not, then a four door one. Hubby will probably come home with a 2 door old fashioned one and said Hey it was on sale. 😆 That's how I have my current dryer that I don't like. But better than hanging them out on a line. (when life gives you lemons…) Sounds like your mil has time blindness. Or could just be a narcissist 😂 Fingers crossed for your mammogram. I have a friend like that. She always has to go back and then it's nothing. She gets so mad because she has to go through the anxiety.

@its_cleo Yaaay on your weight loss plus new low. Any downward movement is progress. Your routine: Can you change just one teensy part of it? (makes note to do that myself) Bucket list: Just make the list. My mom used to keep a collage of magazine pics or stuff she would print off the net about things she would like to do and it was on her refrigerator. It had a title of Believe in Someday. I bet that list was there for 20+ years. She would cross them off with a magic marker if completed. I remember how much you loved your baseball.

If I would check in more often this wouldn't take so long. lol I've lost 3.6 lbs this past month. Progress is progress. Trying not to concentrate on that but the consistency of my habits.
