Barbie - Bess is lovely. Hope you have many happy years with her.
Allie - As many have already said... Your life is yours alone to live. Do what you feel is best. I sincerely hope all works out for you. Just don't settle for less than what you want.
Lisa - Sorry to read bout DH's fall. Glad he was not injured more than he was.
I took a quick trip to Indianapolis last week. One day down, one day back. Visited my "Uncle" Denver. Family friend/honorary uncle. He is 91 yrs. young. Up until 3 months ago he was driving himself around town visiting with friends and doing his own shopping, going to the gym and working out with a personal trainer, etc. Over the past 3 months he has seen 5 different specialists. He has a pinched nerve behind his knee which is being treated with PT. This problem causes him to need to walk with a cane which makes him a very grumpy man. His cataracts have gotten so bad that he cannot dirve. Yes, he is scheduled for cataract surgery in Feb. He also has had kidney problems, COPD, and a heart condition that he is now being treated for. I really hope that A) all of this is fixable and that he does the work to get better. Right now he is fighting doing the work. I really want this to be a temporary setback and not the start of a swift downhill slide. I guess time will tell. Meanwhile I'm very glad I took the time to see him.
This Monday I found 3 good job prospects. Well, make that 2 as one already called back today and said I didn't have what they were looking for. The job description read one way, but when I talked with them they really wanted something different. Meanwhile, I have an initial phone interview for one position and got a call today that they are submitting my resume to the other position. Jobs seem to be appearing now that we have moved firmly away from the holidays so I am feeling hopeful.
I go see my surgeon on Feb 13 for my 3 year checkup. 3 YEARS!!!! He is starting a new program where he gives a talk and has a patient talk once a month to people contemplating gastric surgery. He asked me if I would be his first guest speaker. I said yes. He also asked if I would be the quarterly "Spotlight" patient. They post a before and after picture on the office wall with your weight loss story for a quarter. I'm still thinking about that one. 3 months on the wall of the doctor's waiting room? A bit intimidating.

DJ - My friend had an on-line party. The LuLaRoe consultant posted pictures of items she had in stock. She lives in OKC so only took a couple of days to get the leggings in the mail.
Janetr okc0 -
Like Barbie, I am also reading, and now writing, as I cycle.
Welcome Newbies!
Chris in MA1 -
Mia - how wonderful that the doc asked you to be the first speaker. My three year anniversary for bariatric surgery was in December, we had our sugery pretty close to same time.
Good job.

Grits, the 12- step thing was a joke relating to having an addiction to buying leggings. The whole LuLaRoe thing sucks you in with the Facebook parties and the limited prints and stuff.0
-
The leggings are really cute but in the winter I wear fleece lined leggings under denim pants along with wool socks. Plain leggings by themselves would never be warm enough for me.
Stats for today:
16,000 steps
141 minutes walking Sasha and Bess
135 minutes riding the exercise bike while watching figure skating on TV and knitting
line dance class

Hello Goalistic Girls!
Well, my January goals were not as bad as I thought...
1) Eat More Vegetables! (not really quantifiable – but, I did try to put more of them in everything.)
2) Keep the protein intake at 100 grams a day, or higher. (With my reduction in calorie intake, this became more difficult – but I did average 99.25 grams per day.)
3) Increase daily steps on Fitbit. 7100 average daily steps for January. (My step average was 4964 for the month – due to knee issues.)
I think the veggies goal is non-quantifiable – so, I will probably drop it. I did do a pretty good protein average – so I am not unhappy with that. I am also going to have to drop the step goal – since I have been told that I need to reduce the weight bearing exercise until I get myself balanced out, better.... When it comes down to it, I am going to have to get the ugly shoes to balance out my leg length... or my problem will never be resolved. *sigh* I am not what anyone would call a fashionista – but, dangit! I love my comfy cheap shoes... Guess those are going to be a thing of the past.... at least if I want to have functioning hips left in ten years. And oh yay... I will get to re-lean how to walk, properly... super.
Of course, if I just get off my *kitten* and do what I know I should, then I can get back to proper exercise on the elliptical! I Love my Elliptical!
For February, I think I will go for the following:
1) Do Physical Therapy Homework every day! (Did my stretching this morning – but will have to do some clamshells, tonight!)
2) Keep calories under goal. (I have been having some trouble. I have not been going over by a LOT – but going over on days without cardio.)
3) Investigate special shoes and start the ball rolling to get them. (nnnnnnoooooooooo!!! *smacks self*)
I thought about adding a “swimming” goal – but, I love the swimming so much that 1) it would hardly be an accomplishment to do something I like so much and 2) I would not want to take the chance of turning it into “work” by putting goals and stipulations on it. I will just content myself with going on the weekends and enjoying the pure pleasure I get from working my body in the water. Still not a fan of gravity – but, I get to escape it in the pool for a while... ahhhh. Heaven.
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
Barbie – YOU ROCK! Thanks so much for keeping us all together month after month. (*kicks gently in butt*) Get back on the PT exercises... we will have to keep each other "motivated."
DJ – I am with you... February will be better than January. Sorry your Honey had such a crummy appointment.
Pip – "You do You" is always excellent advice. :] I am still in awe of your daily burn...
Janet – LOL – oh yeah. For sure. Round about 25, I think. So, do we get a photo of you sporting the new leggings?
Kay – Any Loss is a Good Loss... You rock!
Michele - *Waves*
Awashin2 – You "join" by showing up... pull up a keyboard and tell us about you...
Katla – You made your SLEEP goal? That rocks! I still dasn’t set a sleep goal for myself... You are too awesome. And love the bike in the living room... I should do something like that for myself. Maybe I will get one of those little “under the desk” thingies and use it while I play on my computer, at home. **Lead by example, you exercise goddess, you! DH will eventually be forced to follow...
Sharon – ((Hugs)) First – I would choose the pizza over McD’s any day of the week – not only will it be loads better for you – but it will taste better, too. Second – aren’t men funny things? For YEARS my DH used to get all paranoid when I went dancing with my extremely gay best friend. He was SURE that every man in the bar was going to be hitting on me... LOL. Honey – in nearly 30 years of marriage – NO ONE has hit on me... ever.
Leigh – Those jeans were totally a “What was I thinking!?!” moment... I was not sad to see them go. And – hey – if you have a lot to lose – it will go faster, to start. Probably not 17 lbs a month – but, what a great start! You are rocking this!
Kate – LOVE the pictures of you in the coat... You look Mahvelous!
Allie – Oh Sweetie... I hope you two really can do something that works for you... I agree with Sarah – you deserve the best.
Donna – Welcome! 50 lbs in a year is totally realistic – and that is a great start. We are here to cheer you on.
NYKaren – You guys look great! My DH makes ME fill out all the paperwork at the Doc’s office... LOL. He never has to get mad.
Adnama52 – Welcome! Activity is your friend... sounds like you are well on your way.
Chris – Every little bit counts! Just so long as the scale is moving in the right direction, you are winning!
Sarah – Never fails... every time I put those evil things on, they get a run, a tear or a major baggy sag. I strive never to wear them! Glad the event was a success! And I would think that as long as you stay away from rice, potatoes and corn, you would be ok on the carbs... Beans and Lentils have so much lovely fiber and protein that they get a pass as far as I am concerned.
Steamer61 – Welcome! Feel free to stop in any time and tell us about your day...
Carol – ((Hugs!!))
KJ – Action is a fantastic word for the year!
Margaret – I am so happy your knee is doing better. Mine is too! I think there must be something to this whole “stretching” thing.
Heather – I am sure it will be lovely to get home where you can afford to eat! But hurray for a weight-loss holiday!
Rita – Snow Shoveling is awesome cardio! Glad you are feeling better.
Mavis - *waves*
Carey - Thanks! And don’t stress too much... I was not exceptionally successful at meeting goals last month, either... New Month, New goals, New chance! And the hugs are available any time!
Cheri – Texas Weather... you gotta love it!
Lenora – Good luck with the Life Insurance... And I don’t think you can be married for a long time without becoming best friends... Living with someone for years requires a level of understanding and cooperation... so yes, my DH is my BF, too.
Beth – Good luck on the budget... and GRATZ on the 4 pounds. Not too shabby!
Lauravlad – Welcome! Great work on the 8 lbs.
Charleen – Net -2! Excellent. (I prefer the cottage-cheese ranch on mine.)
Yvonne – So glad the anxiety is less...
Paula – You Zumba goddess, you! Great burn!
Karenleona – Hello!
Pam – The train keeps a rollin – only exercise and better eating can slow it down. 40 lbs is totally doable – particularly if you do regular exercise. I am so with you on getting the Smexy back!
Merideth – Hurray for no pain! That is a massive NSV. We only “know” each other because we check in frequently and chit-chat about more than just food and exercise... you can feel free to join in – as much or as little as works for you.
Marcelyn – ((Hugs!!))
Jolene – Hope you feel better – and definitely be kind to yourself!
TNToni – (I LIKE it.. I am going to keep using it :]) That sugar is everywhere.... I just try to cook more of my own foods... then I know how much sugar is in it.
Joyce – Ah... we are going to have to start a Physical Therapy Club... so many of us working on that! And I always tell people I picked my DH up on a street corner... I met him at the Hot Dog stand at the University of Oregon. We both knew the gal who owned it. He and I talked for HOURS the first time we met – and we kept coming back for hot dogs until we started officially dating. (And afterward, of course.)
Grace – A short realistic list is far better than a “good intentions” one that you won’t get done. The “sense of accomplishment” factor cannot be overstated.
Lisa – OH, Sugar – I am glad it was no worse than a clean break! Falling is one of the few things that actually scares me. ((Hugs!!))
Margaret – Once upon a long time ago, I wanted to be a teacher... Now, I am SO glad I didn’t go there. I probably would have been awful at it. But, I admire those who teach!
Sjrs11 – You must be present to win... You just show up, read, comment where you feel moved. Welcome!
Lanette – I could totally get behind living on a cruise ship... meals you don’t have to cook, plenty of opportunities for exercise, social interaction... what’s not to love? Sorry about the knee – I feel your pain. Probably a combination of both – arthritis and you worked it too hard.
Tufntender – Welcome! With your level of activity – changing the way you eat might be enough. Good luck! I was lucky enough to discover this thread quite a while back – maybe 6 months? Hang out long enough, and you will get to know us...
Mia – Hugs for “Uncle” Denver. If it’s any consolation, my Aunt had her cataract surgery around that age... and lived to be 102. I think you should do the spotlight thing... You did the work – you have kept it together... you should be the one hanging on the surgeon’s wall.
Betty - Hope you and your Honey get it figured out. ((Hugs!!))
Nancy D - *Waves*

Tonight it’s Pizza for dinner. DH is all puffed up about how he has been doing the cooking... lol. Monday – he browned some sausages and opened a can of baked beans... Last night, he put a foil-wrapped meatloaf in the oven and steamed some broccoli. (I had to make the instant mash and produce actual gravy from the meatloaf drippings.) Tonight he is sliding some pizza into the oven.
Don’t get me wrong – that he is producing the dinners is fantastic – as I don’t have to do it when I get home at 9pm – but to say that he is “cooking” is a pretty big stretch... LOL. Tomorrow – frozen ribs and steamed asparagus. Bless his heart.
Hugs for Everybody!

Thanks for the February thread Barbie!!!
Allie, you have to do what you think is best. I wish you success! I do agree with Joyce that he should learn how to pitch in around the house--you need a break!
Will check out the Y next week once we make it through a dental operation. Yep, DH is my friend and he won't even stand in ankle deep water with me since this one incident. But he really needs to include some water exercise with his arthritis problems.

Did 30 min yoga (got there late) then an hour of deep water. The plan for tomorrow is to do Joyce Vidral's Upper and Lower body DVD. Afterwards I volunteer at the Green Room. Then I'm thinking that I'll stop at this bridal store this lady told me about. To be honest, I'm not expecting to find anything just yet. Knowing me, I need to go to 3 or 4 stores before I find what I'm looking for.
Actually, first I'll take a pic of it and send it to Denise and see what she thinks. She told me privately that she really doesn't like the gown Pete's mother picked out.
Sharon - happy early birthday. So glad you loved the trailer
NYKaren - you and Rori look so great. Isn't she just an awesome person?
Welcome everyone new
I love hearing about all the great losses
Heather - safe travels
Vince is working on the taxes today. So that means that I'm staying away from him....lol Well...today isn't so bad, he's finding the deductions we can take. But the day he finds out what we owe, I'm staying far, far away....lol
Allie - wishing you all the best. I do hope Tom goes to counseling with you. I'd go to Lowe's also
Welcome everyone new!
Kate - she did a great job on that coat. It looks much, much better. So flattering on you.
Meredith - come in when you can
Toni - so glad you are better now
Lisa - so sorry for your hubby (and you)
Went to ceramics tonight. Nothing really special. I volunteer at the Green Room tomorrow nthen I'll probably stop at WalMart and the buy gas. Exciting, huh?

Allie - Good luck to you. Hope all goes well and you find happiness. Sending hugs and support.
Leigh - tremendous accomplishment in loss of 17.4 lbs. Congratulations!
Sarah in Ontario - once a Riders fan, always a Riders fan. I try to get to a couple of games a year.
Steamer6 - This is a great group - they offer lots of support, motivation and good chatter. Welcome.
Joyce - I feel for Michelle. My daughter owned two male Catahoula/American Bulldogs. They started fighting over a bone one day and she ended up pulling them apart - lucky she didn't get hurt herself, but the dogs were pretty cut up and bleeding. Second major fight came just before Christmas and her hubby pulled them apart that day. They have had to give one away - fortunately, my daughter works with the woman who took him and gets regular updates on how he is doing. Their whole family had a couple of really sad days, knowing that one dog would no longer be living with them, but as my daughter told the kids, better this way so they don't end up killing each other. Always a hard decision when you try to do the best for an animal and things don't work out as you had hoped. Sending hugs.
Tomorrow is my first weigh in day. I promised myself I would only step on the scale once a week. Will let you all know how it goes.
Hugs to all.

Lisa, sorry to hear about your husband's fall....my husband had to be urged to take pain meds after his back surgery.
Re, Thank you for the encouragement about the PT exercises. I'm so good about walking, dancing, and riding the exercise bike but seem to conveniently "forget" to do the PT.
Joyce, how sad about your daughter's dogs.
Michele, I gather the numbers and documents for income tax and send it all to the accountant so I don't know til it all comes back whether we owe anything.
Thank you for all your kind words. One of my great talents is remembering the date so it's easy for me to remember to start the new thread on the last day of the month. However, the thread would be nothing without all of you who share such warm and encouraging thoughts along with the necessary kicks to the back side.

Bess's coat is on back order so our poor little Texas dog has been going for her walks with only her fur to keep her warm.4 -

Katiebug - I'm in love with one of the Valentine prints.

Hey now.....
Just thought I would pop in and say "Hey!". This place is awesome! They have nice Neptune machines for doing laundry! It was a snap! I actually got to take a decent nap today instead of short catnaps between screaming kids (don't get me wrong, I love kids, just not when they are running amuk like little monsters constantly screaming nonsense at the top of their lungs....little girls can have the most piercing screams!). I also went for my first walk of the day and got most of my steps, gotta go for another short walk to finish them up though. They have WiFi here so I don't have to hotspot my iPhone and bought a new Roku stick for my TV instead of watching that digital over-the-air doo doo, which I will be paying them back for. They use one on the TV in the living room (they dropped their satellite TV when the bill got to be too much and I don't blame them). I didn't know those things could get soooo many channels! I get to hook mine up after I get done posting this.
The house I'm in is located in a subdivision-like neighborhood. There is one street leading in that connects the rest of the interior streets. Nice houses with decent sized yards, some fenced, some not. Lots of trees. Flower beds waiting on the blooms of spring, now covered with snow. Kinda reminds me of the "All American" neighborhood of days long past.
Anyway, here's some memes to cheer everybody up....
OK, that's enough, lol....time to get off this thing and set up my new Roku stick. I'm wavin' at all the newbies!!! Welcome and post as often as you like! Thanks for all the well wishes and good thoughts for my new home, you all would like it, trust me!
Oh yeah, RE - yeah you should have but I forgive ya!
OK, I'm outtie! Love you all! Peace!

Sherry, your friends house sounds ideal, from the actual home to the neighborhood. My oldest daughter has a Roku and they love it. My youngest has the Chrome stick. Have fun and keep on bringing us the Minions and naps.
Re, Dear Charlie has been chief cook and bottle washer since December for me. well actually he started doing some things after my stent was put in August and I had so many problems with dizziness. That's the way he cooks, pizzas and hamburger helper along with green beans. He takes care of the litter box, taking my laundry down the stairs and bringing it back up after I hang them up. He used to do my laundry until I was able to do the stairs fine. I really need to pick it up and do more of the chores so I can test my back. I won't do to much. We also have to clean out the posts and pans we store in the storage drawer in our stove. Also we keep mugs we have bought throughout the years on vacation on the back of the stove. So those have to be taken off. Will be a good time to clean them. I'm sure they have picked up some extra grease through the years. There is also the hanging thing that holds our nig utensils like spatula, ladle, etc hanging above the stove. We also have very old decorative paper like you would have put in drawers many years ago hanging on the wall like a backsplash along the entire back wall including above stove. Some of it is peeling off the wall. I know in my heart that all of it needs to come down but who knows how sticky the wall will be behind it. The design/color of it does help the original avacodo blend in with the paint color of a nice pale cool green. But it is peeling away from around the stove. But the new stove comes Friday!!!! Hopefully my new othopedic shoes will also be in Friday. If not, I will be wearing my walking shoes (New Balance) to church on Sunday. Having those new shoes will help me get up and go to church. I need a lot of help in that, like some one coming in my room, making me get out of bed, get in the shower and get dressed. I am real good in talking myself out of it. Charlie could care less whether I go or not even if he knows how bad it makes me feel if I don't. It's like I feel like a failure.
Choir practice was wonderful, in fact one of the anthems we are singing in the middle of February is so beautiful that I just will not be satisfied sitting in the congregation listening to it. I want that to be my goal to be able to stand in that choir loft and sing it with the choir.
