I came down with a nasty sinus infection night before last. I always lose weight when I am sick (see R15 average weight above). I have been drinking a ton of water and expelled at least a pound of snot. Plus, no appetite, but I'm trying anyway. Hopefully something good will come of this and I won't gain all the weight back. But it's always doubtful with such an extreme loss, which is why I'm trying not to lose so much. -_-

Which will make you feel better? 5 consecutive days of perfection or enjoying the company of friends/family/coworkers/meeting new people?
Which will you remember before you die? 5 days of perfection or wine night?4 -

I'm doing all the right things (taking pics, how clothes fit, and measurements; focusing on how I feel; making fitness goals; not over restricting; have taken a diet break, etc.) None of it helps. I'd love to hear how you guys get to the other side when it all seems useless. Thanks all.
@eyer0ll do you take measurements? .. You may be one of those people (like me) who gain and lose weight all over the body at the same time, which makes it very difficult to see weight going on and coming off, because the body is still in the same proportion
The measurements help me as I still cant see a difference. in the mirror,
but
my bust has lost 3 and 1/2 inches
my waist has lost 3 and 1/2 inches
my hips have lost 2 and 3/4 inches
so I know I am heading in the right direction
@Slimpossible007 Yep, I measure and clothes do fit better so intellectually I know I'm doing the right things but I JUST. CANNOT. SEE. IT. It's so discouraging. I am relying on sheer stubbornness right now (which I have an ample supply of) but it's tiring. Whiiiiiiiine.
@eyer0ll as long as you KNOW you are losing .... focus on that .. the mirrors and the mind will catch up .. they are tricky things and like to throw us curve balls
I'm exactly the same I see zero change in the mirror .and due to that I get discouraged . but I know its happening because the scale and the measuring tape tell me otherwise
I sometimes hold the tape measure at my old size just to look at the difference those inches make ... it helps to see the big empty space that used to have more of me filling it (if that made sense)

Sounds like the classic "a watched pot never boils" scenario. You are in the middle of a process right now. 196 is not your goal.
Weighing ourselves validates that we are indeed making progress towards our goals and our eating and exercise changes are working.
Remind yourself of all the other reasons, besides looks, that you are doing this. To live longer? To have more energy?
30 pounds is a terrific achievement. If you quit now, how will you feel when you gain it back? Or gain it back plus an additional 20 pounds?
How will you feel when you reach your goal, mentally and physically? Will you feel a sense of pride, of accomplishment? How will it feel to fit into those size __ jeans, to shop at "regular" sized stores?
Personally, I have lost over 20 pounds since my highest MFP weight and only one jeans size. I don't expect others to notice that. But when I'm rocking the outfit in my profile pic 20 pounds from now they sure will!8 -
All y'all talkin' about not seein' it in the mirror ..
Glass half empty version:
You could be old as dirt like me and watching your double chin turn into wattles, the veins sticking up on the back of your hands, the cellulite formerly hidden by fat now showing as your thigh skin starts to dangle over your knees and your nice round upper arms develop bat wings. When I have lost all I intend to lose, people will stop saying how young I look for my age. They'll give me my senior discount without looking at me funny.
Glass half full version:
I'm already noticing it's a lot easier to do things like step into and out of the tub. I can clip my toe nails without getting out of breath. I can start wearing rings that have been a little too tight. I have an excuse to spend money on new clothes. I can lord my weight loss over hubby. I may live long enough to outlive our money!
I choose glass half full!!13 -

very well said @HeidiCooksSupper
for me "My glass half full"
I can walk all the way up to my boys room (2 flights) without having to catch my breath half way up
Once I am fitter my hubby (older than me) might see the benefits and join me
I can move my furniture and clean a room without having to ask for assistance
I still can't see my weight loss in the mirror, but I sure as hell feel it

Ok, I need help. I've lost over 30 lbs. and just cannot see the difference. As a consequence, I'm feeling down and hopeless about my weight loss. I think you are being way to hard on yourself 30 lbs is fabulous!! I haven't had this expirence before and do feel concerned about you. Can you see other positives? Like maybe you can walk up a flight of stairs way easier now or you have more energy? Maybe there are other issues and talking to someone and figuring out your feelings would help (like your doctor)? Are you finding yourself obsessed about your weightloss?4 -

Hello! So I'm new to challenges and posting in them. I want to put in my days weight however not sure what the best way to do it is. Is there no way of editing my original post or do I have to copy and paste and keep adding replies on a daily basis?
Thanks for the help!
You can copy and paste if you'd like, but I personally just hit the quote button, remove everything in the brackets on the first row, and the quote in the brackets at the bottom.3 -

Welcome!
10 pounds in 10 days is a pretty aggressive goal. Setting realistic, attainable goals often leads to success. Unattainable goals usually result in disappointment and can lead to quitting.
A 1% weekly loss would be around 2.5 pounds in 10 days. If you are just starting, 1% may come off quickly, so you could set a goal of double that, or 5 pounds. If you reach that before 10 days is up, by all means adjust your goal!
Whatever works best for you. I just want to see you to succeed and have a good experience in the process!
Hugs!

9/20- 154.44 Does walking Costco count as exercise? lol Kept to our grocery list and avoided buying a pizza for dinner, even though it was calling me the entire time. Came home and found a salmon patty instead with salad and a few sweet potato fries. Didn't follow my plan, but made positive choices.
