Womanly question
I need some ideas on what kind of exercises to do during that time of the month. I've heard it's not good to do ab exercises or to bend in weird postures (like I'd feel like doing that anyway) or to stand in one position for a long period of time. I worry about dealing with cravings and then not having ways of burning them…

Steps to Calories burned
ANYONE KNOW?? Are pedometers fairly accurate with their steps to calories burned calculations? I walk 50-75% of an 8 hour shift at work as a security officer, and I started wearing a pedometer to track how far I walk. It's not a constant 60, 90, 120, etc. minutes of walking, but broken over the shift. I wonder if the…

Does Strength Training Count?
Question. I work out almost everyday. To lose the weight I need, I have to exercise 90 minutes of cardio per day. Thats fine. But....is that 90 minutes of cardio only and then weight training on top of that? I just find that I can meet the calories I have to burn (about 600 I think) in less than an hour at the gym. I…

Not a morning person!
O.k., I admit it, I am one of those people you should avoid for the first 30 minutes after I wake up! I'm not mean, just not awake or alert enough to be nice  So here is where I need help. Please give me suggestions to get me out of bed about 45-minutes to an hour earlier. I usually get up about 7:30, go to bed…

No wonder. . .
that my grandmother was so slender. She was very, very tidy and kept her house spotless. (my main memories of her from my childhood are her on her hands and knees scrubbing floors.) I cleaned for two hours yesterday, at top speed. I am so sore today! 1 hour of housecleaning moderate effort =198 calories. :flowerforyou:

I've seen a lot of posts about Turbo Jam floating around the site. I was just wondering what results people are seeing with it. I was thinking of ordering it but wanted to get the low down on how many pounds people have lost using it, etc. Thanks!

Dance Dance Revolution
Has anyone tried that as part of their exercise routine? My sister just gave me her whole set up so I can use it. She used it to stay toned and in shape while she was in high school. She's away at college now and can't fit it in her dorm room. So I guess I'm going to try that for a while. Any other fun ideas like that?

Another Non-Scale Victory!
I have a pair of jeans that I bought just before Christmas but wouldn't wear until a couple of weeks ago because I had a "muffin top" going on & I can honestly say I HATE how that looks. Hubby & I went out for a bite last night & I wore those jeans. Now the scale hasn't moved in a week & I was getting pretty depressed…

My new fun workout. . .
OK, so this may be for only the Canadians out there. . . I've been tivo-ing this program called simply "Workout" which is a dance workout. The variety of dance changes about every two weeks, so far I've done a Bollywood, a Latin fusion, a Bhangra, and now it's African fusion dance. The routines are challenging enough to…

Breathe in, breathe out - Fit Tip - proper breathing during weight training - Brief Article Men's Fitness, May, 2002 Sometimes it's easy to get so caught up in lifting that you forget to do what comes naturally, like breathe. I'm VERY new to this chat board (I just started today!) and I was wondering how many of you have joined a CURVES gym. I've been involved with another gym before but I've recently moved and literally the only gym within a relatively close distance is Curves. I've heard that it is more for "beginners" and in college (granted…

My running plan
I hate running... I always have, but I hate it less than most other cardio exercise and I know I can do it. The mistake that I've always made in the past is in trying to do too much, too soon and hurting myself. I took the Cool Running: Couch-to-5K Running Plan and modified it. I think it assumed a level of fitness that I…
