I recognize my "ah ha" moments are when my pants don't fit, or I weigh more than I have for a long time, etc., etc.. What I'd really like to know/remember are what were my "I give up" OR "I ain't doing this anymore" moments that lead to me starting to stop caring. Even more important, how to avoid them or change that mindset.
I lost sixty pounds 3 times and this time I got down to 144.6 lbs and I fit into size 18 from wearing a 3x pants. I am 70 years old and sometimes my glucose reading is down to 74, sometimes 81 before lunch and I feel great I am just on 20 units of lantus in the morning and ten at bedtime. I walk as often as I can.
My moment was when I stepped onto the scale and weighed 205 lbs. This time was different because I was down to taking only one medication. This medication improved my mood so I was able to get up most mornings and actually feel motivated to get healthy. I cut down on eating the first three months.. Once the weight started coming off it kept me motivated and I started exercising. After 9 months I reached a plateau and stopped exercising for two weeks. Then went back at it again
My a-ha was reading the factors for heightened risk of dying from COVID: Older, obese, and sedentary. Well, I can’t do anything about turning 50 next year, but I can lose weight and get off my butt.

Lol, when my Grandmother grabbed me by the love handle and asked, "what's this?"
I said, "Grandma, it's skin!"
She said, "That's some thick skin..."
And there you have it...
