Serious question here. Not being a jerk. Are newbies welcome on the forum? Or is it a "we like who's here screw the rest" vibe?

I've been using the app but am curious about the dynamics of the forum. Thanks in advance.

Sassy, post what you like, when you like. Don't pay any attention to any of the don't do this or don't do that crew. It is a free forum and is not controlled by any of the members. As long as you follow the official forum rules and stay within the guidelines - post what you like.

Don't search old discussions because they are just that - OLD. It is much more fun to be a part of a NEW discussion and learn as you go along. Wading through pages and pages is a waste of time. If existing members find it tedious, they have the choice not to read it or be involved in the discussion.

It is not necessary to back things up with scientific evidence
, it might be super important to some but me, I don't give a rat's ar$e - lots of things which were thought to be fact are no longer fact.

So just go for it honey and I hope that you meet lots of wonderful people along the way who will be of use to you in helping you stay healthy. You have a very unique medical history and I hope you continue to maintain your wonderful sense of humour.

My Fitness Pal is a lot more than just weight loss and I hope you get to enjoy those benefits and "screw the rest" xx

And for the record, I hadn't see the Fed Up thing so thank you OP for posting it. I have the right to see something and make up my own mind as to whether it is beneficial to me or not. I do not need the thought police to veto things on my behalf.

LOL yea just spout out any nonsense people want, who cares about science and what really works....wow...

I care about science and believe in science, I just am not going to waste my precious time scouring through my old out dated textbooks or spend hours Goggling or worse still, wading through your previous posts (shudder), to find what some selected MFP members consider as evidence to back up my comments. I said "It is not necessary to back things up with scientific evidence" (and these are the words highlighted by your good self ) and I stand by that - people have a right to their opinions without the burden of having to substantiate every little word. I will do as I always do, speak my mind when I want and how I want. I will continue to respect people and their views and will tell things as I have experienced them in life and if they happen to not be scientifically sound then - OOPs!!

Thanks for responding to my question!

I had a co-worker who drove me insane about salt intake. I have to eat or drink a lot of salt to maintain a normal blood pressure. She scolded me every day until I finally printed off some articles on autonomic failure. I figured being a fellow teacher she'd understand sometimes people get rare diseases and have to listen to doctors and specialists. Nope. Still told me I should stop eating salt. I told her I preferred being conscious to fainting from low bp. lol

Oh I'm keeping my sense of humor! It's best to laugh than curl up in the fetal position begging the ceiling to fall in on top of my head. (Me last night. JK!)

Yes conscious is definitely the preferable state .lol Some people mean well but do not understand that we are all different. On the further end of the scale, a young girlfriend of my son was actually allergic to salt, rare but true. Her gums and mouth would peel from just cleaning her teeth. People, even her mother, insisted that she eat salt to get her body used to it. Apparently, her throat and the lining of her stomach was peeling and irritated from salt when they did investigations. She struggles to exclude salt entirely from her diet as you would imagine. At least you have to add it, much easier.

I find I have to now add salt back into my diet because I was cramping up so much from not eating it. It has it uses, and obviously in the sad case of my son's friend, its bad side.

Sorry to hear you were in so much pain last night and I wish I could take away just a fraction of it for you. I will be praying you to have a better night tonight as I would imagine it would be difficult for you to use pain relief medication.

Good luck on the boards and remember there are lots of wonderful people here and I hope you have the good fortune to find them. xx

It would be horrible to have an allergy to salt. So sad! Thank you for the prayers and the warm welcome! xx
