NSV - Finally got daughter into the weight room!!!! Yay. It was mostly older women, as in retired age women, an older man, a younger man and us. She did it and will return with me. The older women (3 of them) seemed to be taking a semi-private training session as the younger man moved among them gently giving them directions and telling them what exercise to do. It was great to see and they looked pretty fit!

That's great! And what a fun way to train those older ladies have found. I think I might have been intimidated by a personal.trainer when I first started. (Like I said, I went to spot for hubby and git bored.)

Nice! The ladies did seem to be having fun.

Just imagine all of us in a big weight room. We would be having a ball!

That would be so fun! Lifting together!

It would be the craziest mixture of absolute support, TMI, and talking smack! @m1xm0d3 would you be up for such a weight room?

@nonoelmo that is awesome!! So glad it didn't take her long to give the weight room another try!!

I have been doing well this weekend. Actually got up and exercised both mornings! A first for me. Funny thing, I weighed in today, then went on my morning walk, came back showered and my daughter was playing with my scale. So I got on it again and it was about a pound and a half lower! That would have me under 200! Well, I got off and got back on and it was up about a half. So I won't record that one, but next week for sure!

Great job! I am sure you will make it next week!

I must admit, I'm a little sad. I seem to be the only one who didn't receive a little bit of of love in their mailbox. :(

I promise I sent everyone on the list a letter (even out of country addresses). I really hope they all make it. I know mail gets lost sometimes (which sucks because my dad is a mailman so I hate complaining haha).

Glad you guys that got them already liked the notes. :) that made my day reading this too.

I started. I sent out a few Postcards and will continue to chip away at the list. Thus mine will trickle out as I get spare moments and it is not a reflection of anything other than my time limitations how quickly these get put in the mail. I started in country for simplicity. I had the proper postage but I will keep on it.

I have only started with our August birthday, but will try and start to add a few random cards here and there! It will keep things fun!

Great news that your daughter's tests came back normal! Excellent!

I must admit that the name "clotted cream" makes me gag. I have this horrible aversion to milk specifically because it gets all clumpy and sooooo groooosssss when it starts to spoil. So "clotted cream" translates into "rotten nasty milk" for me.

The worst part is that I've never actually tried clotted cream, as it's not a thing here in the US. I bet I'd LOVE it if I tried it elsewhere AND if they didn't tell me that's what I was eating. Just call it... ummm... buttery pudding... or sweetened cream.... or... well, anything but "clotted". Hee hee

I wish I could send you all some clotted cream

I have never had a desire for clotted cream. ..sounded disgusting. When I am in London next year I now vow to try it.

Oh yes you will! If I can persuade you down to Devon for s couple of days, I will take you for the best cream tea ever at ny favourite café on the cliffs.

I WANT to go to Devon! I want to meet Charlie and yet to be named baby girl and go to the zoo and check it all out! I have to get a Scotland/England guidebook and start reading up.

We will put Devon on the itinerary, and anywhere else you want to go. And you Can meet my babies and.we'll take them to the zoo. And Windsor Castle tower of London, Hampton Court, Highclere house (Downton abbey) Covent garden,

I want to come I want to come!!! We didn't get to go to Hampton Court and that was one of the places I wanted to go realllllly bad! I may be living over there by that time :)

Of course you can come! Hampton Court is a day trip and easy to get to.

I've only got a little flat in Devon but everyone is welcome as long as you can cope with camp beds and air beds.

Yesssss! If I'm not living there already I can just stay with my SO! He can drive me to meet up with y'all!

Yay! We have three now, and I think eithe Julie or Lois was thinking of joining us too!

I have never seen Downton Abbey, I guess I better watch before July 2016. I remember the Tower of London, that was cool. I haven't been to Hampton Court. I can't wait!

Laura are you going to join us on the mountain climb?

Don't worry Kelly you know we love you!! I didn't either as I missed out on the exchanging of addresses and such when I was on vacay! Maybe yours just hasn't arrived yet? We'll get in on it next time! <3

    I missed it too! :(
Maybe we can start another one soon? :)

@pofoster21 is collating addresses and birthdays. PM her your details to join in. It's a rolling thing I think

Anyone is in! Just send me your birthday, email and address. If I know you (hint to our reading/not participating folks) I will add you and redistribute. Laura sent hers to me so I will update and send out again tomorrow. Melissa, they shut the thread down before I got to put your email in so I need you to send it to me again! Thanks!

My SO left for work today and will be gone for the next 14 days. This has been the routine for as long as I've known him but I never get used to it. *sigh*

Fortunately he took me out for lunch today and I had a nice wholesome veggie omelette, because I have been rather hopeless at feeding myself supper, which has consisted of:

133 grams of cottage cheese (off to a great start)
    a kiwi (going along well)
about a tablespoon of leftover wild blueberries (still okay)
about a quarter of a tube of leftover cheddar Pringles (going downhill rapidly)
half a toffee KitKat bar (aargghhhhhh!)

I might have to officially call this Eat Like a Kid Day. Actually, until I got to the KitKat, it was all leftovers... there's some merit in using those up, right?

Think I'll poach myself a couple of eggs so my protein isn't abysmally low, and maybe feel like a grown-up again.

What does your SO do that he leaves for 2 weeks?

He works in an underground gold mine... 14 straight 12-hour shifts. Two weeks in and two weeks out. And he does steady days or nights on each rotation, currently on days.

Wow. Is that as dangerous as coal? And I can't imagine doing 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, why do they do it that way?

I think it's more dangerous for the guys who are doing the actual blasting in the new areas. Although he has mentioned that occasionally the ground will give way in a weak spot and giant sink holes will appear, and there have been rock falls. But they seem to be pretty meticulous about safety. I know there have been times that he's called and said they've been delayed going underground because fans haven't been working and gases haven't been exhausted properly.

The deepest level is something like 1400 meters below surface. No way you'd get me down there.

I have no idea about the shifts, possibly because they fly employees in and out. And I know he isn't underground for his entire shift, they start on surface doing paperwork and ordering parts for about the first 3 hours because that's when the blasting is taking place and no one else is allowed in the mine.

There are quite a few mines around here and they all seem to run on different shifts... some are 1 week in/1 out, some are 3 in/1 out.

I couldn't spend that much time underground either. Not because it would bother me (I don't think it would) but I would miss the sunlight/fresh air. That does have to be hard on you having him gone so much.

Its really funny.... I never realized how 'abrupt' my writing is when I am on the phone in this thread. Or maybe its because its been a long day, but I popped back in after getting home from all the stuff I did today, and wrote most of the above at Panera where I stopped for dinner. I may need to start adding more smiley faces or something. I don't sound very friendly! Ooops... Even my sarcasm seems flat. Or maybe I really am just tired! Ok, off to the bat cave, and now that I am on my computer, maybe I can be more eloquent!

One of things I like about you is that you don't "overtake". Just say it and move on. I'm okay with you and football not mixing because you and horses do. :#

I have to admit that I have no idea what this means. Do you mean that you like her plain speaking?

I would assume yes. :) I have been told by people who work for me that I can be really abrupt in my writing, especially when on my phone. I am a kind of say what needs to be said and move on person in writing (in real life I can talk your ear off, but in business I am also known for being a bit abrupt). I have learned over the years to try and soften it a bit with a "Hey, Susie" or "Hi, Susie, hope all is well. I was wondering if you could..." rather than "Susie, I haven't seen that report I asked for". That is more my style... but I try to be 'softer' now as I am more aware of it. But under duress, the 'limit your word count' in me comes out. :)

    Hopefully one breakfast is enough!

I find that I'm not hungry while drinking, but the next day I want all the things!

I went out of town to an archery tournament once, went out for bacon and eggs with the guys I was staying with, came back to the hotel and went out for French toast with another group.

I tend to want to eat like mad WHILE I'm drinking. Bacon, eggs, cheese(loads of cheese), burgers, fries, cheese sticks, sausage, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, potato wedges, boneless buffalo wings(usually too inebriated to eat traditional), fried pickles, macaroni and cheese, and chicken alfredo.

These are things I have craved/eaten like a starving person while drinking.

This is more me. When I drink too much restraint disappears. It usually means a trip there burger King for a big fish meal. And ice cream. Often after having had dinner. This is why I try not to drunk much anymore.

This post is funny. I sound drunk. I was trying to graze my horse and post.

    Trip TO Burger King.
Try not to DRINK much anymore. ;)

What is sad is that I read it the way you intended and didn't notice the mistakes. haha

    Me too. Brain autocorrect

So I just randomly popped into this cat gif thread I follow that I haven't looked at in ages... I probably started following this and that one about the same time. They just celebrated 100 PAGES!

Seriously, guys, we have to keep up with the other threads around here. Hurrumph... goes off to sulk.

Very nice, CrosbyLee! When he was three, my now 18 year old jumped on my scale because he liked to watch it. (it was not a digital scale, that long ago) He broke it so that everyone weighed 200 lbs. Scared me to death because I was pregnant and thought the OB would read me the riot act. At the actual doctors' office, I weighed 185.

Oh that is funny, I am sure it wasn't at the time!! She sees me check mine and she will see how much she weighs. I always tell her she is looking good.

At the time, I had gestational diabetes and it was not funny, but it is now. He will still step on the scale occasionally and yell out "200!" He's 6'2", has a 28" waist and 32" inseam and actually weighs 140, but I laugh every time he does it.

Yes, that's it. My kid has autism because I do and extra words sometimes confuse me, even now. My boss beats around the bush, especially in emails, and it makes me nuts.

I ate a half bag of teddy grahams. The honey ones. :(

Welcome! I've eaten the whole bag before and would again if not for celiac disease.

I wonder what the moderators who read through these things think of our thread at this point. I wonder if there are others out there that evolve like this one has? Just a random thought!

"oh, they are at it again. At least they really mean no judgment."

    But of course!

Confession: My new profile pic was taken as SOON as I woke up tonight and it is my 'I totally do NOT want to workout today' face.

Probably one of my most 'authentic' photos.
There is also one of me from Christmas when I was 17, when I opened a gift, and it was my first rifle. The sheer joy on my goofy little face is so real. I think it looks horrible but it was my ex-husbands favorite photo of me.

Ooh, ah, oh, what kind of rifle? Mine was a Remington .22LR. Great little target rifle and good for keeping varmints out of the garden. (Yes, my grandmother cooked the varmints, she very clearly remembered the depression and everything we hunt, we eat.)

It was a Mossberg International Flex-22. I've never actually used it to hunt anything. I do need to get in practice with my firearms. But shooting can be an expensive hobby.

@spacequiztime and @kellyjellybellyjelly I'm even excited for the trip to Red Lobster. He's at 288 right now so I have a bit of time.

I told my sister, the one with diabetes, about MFP and she hasn't been keeping up with it. Thankfully with the summer though, she has lost some weight and her doctor has noted some improvement in her kidney function. I would LOVE for her to get in on the group but we'll have to see. I know she would probably have a field day with the super great recipes thread! She's an excellent cook.

Oh gosh - forgot to say @Tubbs216 - You must be so proud of your oldest for going through with such a grown up interview! I hope he gets the job.

I would like to go to Dover too. Is that do-able?

Of course! Dover from London is about an hour as long as operation stack isn't in placehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Stack

That is interesting. I assume cars can still drive? It looks like those 'lorries' are parked on either side of the road, but it does look like it would cause traffic issues.

So I just randomly popped into this cat gif thread I follow that I haven't looked at in ages... I probably started following this and that one about the same time. They just celebrated 100 PAGES!

Seriously, guys, we have to keep up with the other threads around here. Hurrumph... goes off to sulk.

I miss you all terribly, but I will be ever so busy with work, that I won't have a lot of time to chat during the day. I will try to check in at lunch and after work at home. I hope you all had a great weekend. Anyone on vacation (@FroggyBug and @jthurman3) I hope you have the best time, and everyone else has a great week. I'll catch you all later.

I put a juicy confession in the batcave.
