I have a couple "secret" social networks I belong to, for this same reason. Family gets a little too involved sometimes.0 -

I have slightly slutty confessions, but sadly we seem to have moved on from slutty topics.0

I just opened facebook and saw several people I know passing this around. I confess, I honestly don't see the appeal of a bacon hot dog served on a Krispy Kreme bun:

You don't have a Tom+Chee near you, huh? I'll put this under the "yuck" column as well. I could never see myself eating it:

Indeed. I have a very "If you have to ask, you know the answer" attitude to many threads.0 -
My confession? Tomorrow I'm cutting off my rather long hair. The reason that it is a confession is that getting rid of it is likely the only reason the scale will go down this week (if it even does).0

I'm sure we can revisit that topic if you care to get the ball rolling...0 -
Confession: Went out dancing on a Tuesday night, had three guys ask for my number even though I was wearing an ugly dress. Two of them spent most of the night sort of competing for my attention. I'm pretty sure they didn't know each other, it was just random. If that has ever happened to me before, it has been a very long time.
Ended up making out with a guy half my age behind the wine barrels...maybe won't be going back to my favorite wine bar for a few weeks.
It's the strangest thing, every time I drop below 215 I suddenly start to get tons more attention from Latinos. Below 210 and even American guys start following me around. Obviously I am still huge. Maybe I am prettier than I realized? I don't know what the deal is lately, but it is both flattering and slightly terrifying.
I swear, I dress really conservatively for a salsa dancer...I had on a slip (in case of skirt flying up) and a dress that shows absolutely zero cleavage.-1 -
I confess I do not know what truck bollocks look like - I don't think they're a thing here (UK).0
-
Even though I brought a healthy lunch there is a very good chance I will be eating poutine. The cafeteria at work is doing a poutine bar. I may or may not log it.0

I still haven't been to Firehouse subs. Probably today.
I had some chocolate for breakfast (some of the pile of Lindt chocolates I got last week)0 -
So how many of you weigh yourself before and after peeing and before and after blowing your nose LOL just to see if you can lose another .1??? Guilty!
One thing I learned from a foster kid I took care of a few years ago regarding Ben & Jerry's pints of ice cream-if you eat half you're a pig, but if you finish it you're the champion! We were champions many nights!!0 -

they have parties for this? is this new baby gender, or transitioning from one gender to another?
if it's new baby gender, go with pastel pinks and blues
American's have parties for everything. Baby's gender, pregnancy, engagement, god knows how many different parties for the wedding etc
American's are mad
Funny, my husband is Danish and I feel the same way about them. Ever been to a Danish confirmation party? Easily 8-10 hours for a 13-year-old's celebration (and its family there, not kids their age). Multiple meals, poems read, a master of ceremonies, etc. We went to two in one trip to Denmark and it was exhausting.

I started to go grey in college but now it's just a streak in my hair a little like Rogue. I embraced those grey hairs. The other parts of my body? Those grey hairs can go straight to hell!
Well Rogue is pretty awesome!
Agreed. I wish my greys only came in a streak. Ugh.
I finished my book yesterday... Still can't start another one. I always need some time between a book and another, to get some kind of closure I guess (which I can't... considering that there's still one book left and it's not coming out for 17 months and it makes me want to scream).
I am the same way. Especially if the book takes a drastic turn and I am left traumatized lol. One book hit me pretty hard and I tried to start another one a bit later that day and I had to put it down because I couldn't focus on it.
I currently have three series that I am now waiting for the next book to come out.
Confession: I have become violently angry at the conclusion of books in the past. It is common for me to finish a novel and immediately throw it across the room if I don't like the ending. I read the a book called "HAB Theory" about 10 years or ago and was so incensed at how the author chose to end it that I read the last sentence, shook my head in disbelief, walked outside, and torched it with lighter fluid.
That's hard core
You have no idea. I've had a love affair with the English language since I was three. I've got a degree in English Literature and wondered why we didn't read more in the classes I took. My book collection has spilled into 4 different rooms at my house and is making hostile overtures toward a 5th. In second grade, a bunch of people sponsored me for the March of Dimes readathon. Most of them pledged $1 or $2 a book, probably thinking I'd read about 10 or so. I needed two forms to submit the 135 book titles I read that month. Most people only sponsored me at $.10 to a quarter per book from then on.
I tell you all that to make this clear: I *kitten* love books. I view the written word as one of the great pinnacles of human civilization and credit mass publication with the great social improvements of the last 500 years. For me, to burn a book is an almost unthinkable act of heresy. But that *kitten* guy wrote what has to be one of the worst *kitten* endings in the history of bad *kitten* endings. *kitten* thing may as well have ended with a fadeout to show it all took place in a goddamn snowglobe. *kitten* HAB Theory.
Confession: I sometimes overreact to insignificant things.
I am currently reading "Atlas Shrugged". While I still have a long way to go, the book and characters in it, are pissing me off.
That, right there, is the one book that I would be tempted to set on fire.
I might give you a match.
I have to confess that I'm rather relieved you said that since a) you seem to know what you're talking about and b) Atlas Shrugged is currently sitting in my basement with a bookmark stuck about a quarter of the way through, and has been for about 15 years. I've never been able to bring myself to pick it up again. It was so dry and ponderous I doubt I absorbed even a tenth of what I read, my mind kept drifting away.
Ditto The Fountainhead.
I tried. I really tried.
Oh, and last night's supper was a pre-planned Limited Edition Junk Food pigout: a Wendy's Pacific Cod Sandwich and a McD's shamrock shake. I actually had pretty bad heartburn after all that. Is anybody surprised?
This is me and Kafka.

Gah, I mean, that's a toughie. Overall? By genre? By movement?
Here's some biggies on my bookshelves:
Thomas Pynchon
Aldous Huxley
Alice Walker
Jean Toomer
Toni Morrison
John Updike
Douglas Coupland
Shel Silverstein
Amiri Baraka
Jonathan Franzen
Gertrude Stein
David Sedaris
Jonathan Krakauer
E.A. Poe
Steven King (pre-1995) - I think a lot of people overlook King. Especially for English majors and writes, I really believe there's merit in examining his character development.
William S. Burroughs
Jack Kerouac
God, there's so many more.
My first thought was that there is a distinct lack of Flannery O'Conner.

I literally have sat on my couch in my fiance's sweatpants (because they were roomier than mine) and ate a half of a bag of chocolate chips dipped in peanut butter haha I haven't done that since his last business trip haha I know he would totally judge me0

I think many of us have that issue.
If I have learned anything from my half century on the planet, it's that men find quite a variety of body shapes/sizes attractive... certainly not exclusively the thin model-type bodies that the advertising industry promotes as the ideal.
And that if one is able to project confidence, or a sense of feeling comfortable in your own skin, one's attractiveness increases a hundredfold.

I don't log my drinks. I know I should, but I drink a lot of coffee and tea and I don't want to be reminded of how much caffeine I drink, let alone the calories.
I also go out to a bar every week for pub trivia and order a basket of tater tots that I eat by myself. I usually account for it, but even if I don't, I still order it.0 -

Dammit! She is one of my favorite short story writers! How did I forget her?! She also holds a special place for having one of my favorite titles of anything, ever: "Everything That Rises Must Converge." I shall read "A Good Man Is Hard To Find" as penance tonight!0 -

I, too, was unimpressed by that ending, but what a story! Up to that point, I absolutely loved it. I confess, though, that I still don't know what a fox-tail is and why someone would want one so badly.0 -

Did you *really* only eat 3 ounces of chicken, or did you just eat a chicken breast (which can be anywhere from 9 to 12 ounces) and call it one serving?
(of course, if you're doing that and losing anyhow, eh, have at it, I guess.)
I do this too! 3 oz of chicken is pretty much nothing. I've never had a chicken breast that was less than 7 oz. I always know those are the ones who don't have food scales and are just estimating!!
Not necessarily true! I do have a food scale, and I religiously weigh out EXACTLY 100 grams (slightly over 3 oz) of chicken at a time for my meals! But then again, I pretty much only eat chicken in sandwiches and (huge) salads--If I was eating it as dinner on a plate with just a veggie side, I'd probably eat double that or more. O.o
That's super awesome, then. Go you!
(I still think a lot of people just put in one serving, though. I know -- years ago I used to do it, too. Buying that food scale is a big eye-opener, isn't it?)
It so is! I was really in denial about pita bread, of all things! O.o I logged a big ole pita as like 80 calories because I just couldn't believe that a flat piece of bread could be so many calories... And when I finally got a food scale and faced the facts... It was 300 calories!
Oh, pita. How I wish I could quit you. Seriously, and I don't even like the lower-cal kind of pitas, I like the nice doughy ones. With hummus. If it's hummus, it's healthy, right?
You guys need to try Lavash bread. Its 100 calories for the entire 12in by 6 in piece. I usually only eat half with some dip. Super delicious and filling - just not as calorie dense as pita.

I round my height up half an inch to feel better about myself at the doctor and on these fitness websites.0

I took Level II this morning because I've been lacking in the sleep department. Now, I don't know what being on drugs feels like, well, except morphine and Percacets (sp?), but I would guess that it gave me a similar feeling to what crack would. I got a huge rush and am super jittery and shaky. I'm also experiencing hot and cold flashes (if there's such a thing) and I feel like I can't focus.
The take away...I won't be using that again. Glad it was just a sample.0 -
I was under my calories after dinner so of course I made a mug cake and then was over (sigh). Thankfully it wasn't the biggest splurge but I was still wanting to be under today.
Oh well tomorrow is another day!0 -

This has been my biggest complaint about Stephen King. He has amazing ideas and stories, but it's like he gets bored at the end and just wants to finish it quickly. The Stand was awesome, but I didn't think the ending was great. And I've only seen the movie Dreamcatcher, but I loved it - until the end. I've avoided his books for the most part, until now. My dad has convinced me to read the Dark Tower books, even though I've heard several times the ending is (again) terrible.0
