    Ohhh man I HATE talking on the phone. Pretty much always have. I had one friend in particular who would call me and could talk for HOURS. We talked for like five hours one time! When my mom was around I always gestured for her to say something like ''GET OFF THE PHONE, I NEED TO USE IT!'' or ''GO TO BED!!'' so I could end the call.... I could never say I just wanted to go, I felt too bad and I feel I am horrible at lying about a reason to go.

    EDIT: I have to mentally prepare myself every time I have to make a phone call... I get terribly anxious and stutter all over the place.

    Save the Date is new to me... never heard of it before now.

    All I can think of is all the (extra, oversize, overweight) postage to mail out 1) Save the Dates 2) actual invitations (with return postage for the RSVPs) and then 3) thank you cards.

    Canada Post better save home mail delivery after that influx of revenue!

    Well, I'm making brownies for the second time this week. Luckily my boyfriend ate most of them last time ;) ... I think this counts as sabotaging both of us, as we both want to lose weight. But... BUT BROWNIES!

    *serious face* Brownies are a good excuse for anything. So yes, BROWNIES! :smiley:
    They're fudgey ones, too! I prefer those to the more cakey variety ;)

    Me too! But not the really gooey kind of fudgy (made with cocoa instead of melted chocolate), those make me feel sick after just a bite or two. I love the dense fudgy ones that turn practically solid after they cool. Mmmm. Like the ones they sell at the Great American Cookie Company. :smiley:

    Thanks! The cheesecake bars came out BEAUTIFULLY. Crispy, golden brown on top and really pretty. Since it's cheesecake, I don't get to know what the inside looks like until it chills for a thousand hours. Bleh. I let it cool completely then carefully wrapped it in plastic until it looked like a mummified brick, then shoved it into the fridge. Delicately. ;)

    I didn't get progress shots of the cheesecake bars because my hands were really sticky with all the cookie dough (you have to work it with your hands in this recipe), but I'll definitely take pictures when I unmummify it and cut into it!

    As for the pies, I've taken shots of every. Single. Step. I hope you guys don't mind the million pictures, because I'll be posting them in the Random Pictures thread in a little while. Also, I made HUGE cookies. Like, I took a recipe that makes 32 large cookies and figured I'd make 20 jumbo ones instead. I'll share pictures of those, too!

    Is anyone here a really long-time MFP member? Like, a lot of years? I'm really interested in whether the zeitgeist changes over time. Right now most people are totally CICO, and those who advocate a different style of eating tend to get slammed by the cool kids (sometimes rightly, to be honest - some people have very strange ideas). I wonder whether this changes over time, and whether 'clean' eating will come back in style at some point, and the latest round of cool kids will jump hard on anyone who says a calorie is just a calorie and a sugar is just a sugar? Or if low carb might become the way to go (again)? I say this as someone who has dieted through several decades and seen food fashions come and go.

    Just musing. Thoughts?

    If I could trust myself to have a bag of chocolate chips in the house, I would have put some in!! Sadly, I can't keep stuff like that here. If/when I buy them, I know that they will be gone that same day...and that just doesn't always fit into my calories :(

    Were they deliciously gooey in the middle? Cuz that's how I like 'em! I'm gonna have to try these out!! I also cannot have chocolate chips in the house for the same reason.

    I've been around for years (started an account in 2011, I think), but didn't know about the forums until more recently, so I'm not sure. There's definitely a few that seem to be really into the latest peer-reviewed studies, so I would think they would evolve with the research (says the hopeful scientist), but who knows...

    I confess that I made mine out of cocoa and they aren't extremely dense/solid. They're more melt-in-your-mouth gooey. I DO happen to have some baking chocolate in my apartment, so maybe I'll try making brownies with that next time.... though something tells me I might be better off melting chocolate chips (I don't really like this baking chocolate :confounded: ).

    I once dated a girl that had some seriously coarse hair. She always had 5 o'clock shadow on her legs and it was sooo discomforting to rub against them. We didn't last long. lol

    Nope. He'll tease me sometimes, but that's it.
    As of late, I've been more deliberate about shaving and I think that's because I'm wearing a lot of workout clothes.

    Judging by some of the comments I've read out there it does seem as though the forum changes over time as to what everyone is advocating.

    As the current cool kids move on perhaps the next batch will all have succeeded using LCHF and that will be the advice du jour.

    I first heard of save the dates in an etiquette forum I'm on. Conventional wisdom on that forum is that the formal invitations don't go out until 8 weeks before the wedding and this way people won't have made travel plans.

    My invitations, for my backyard wedding, went out at the beginning of June with an rsvp by the end of June so I knew how many tables and chairs we needed to rent.

    Raelynn update:
    I finally spoke with the preschool director for the district this morning. She is going to talk to the school psychologist and see what she would like to do as far as evaluations and options. She also wants Raelynn to have a speech evaluation as her SPD can (and does) affect how she comprehends and communicates to an extent. She did mention that there is a 3K option we could try, but it is for severely delayed and autistic children. After discussing Raelynn's specific delays and issues was when she decided to get the psychologist involved, so I don't exactly know how that is going to pan out. She did mention possibly doing an individualized plan as well, just depending on what the psychologist thinks.

    Since we've started her on the melatonin she's begun waking up around 5-6am after not going to sleep until around 8:30-9pm, granted she's not waking up at night, but still concerning since that's 8-9 hours of sleep for her, as opposed to the (iirc) 12-15 she's supposed to be getting. We're going to hang on and see if it's just her body adjusting or if we need to try something else.

    The tea party at Barnes and noble didn't go well. She completely freaked out when it came time to sit down for story time and wouldn't go near the other kids, as in completely frozen and stuttering "I don't, I want, mommy, mommy,!" She wound up sitting nearby in my lap but she still wouldn't interact or go near other kids. After the story, there was a craft and we could buy snacks if we wanted. She ran to the back of a table, trying to keep away from everyone, but it was such a small space that she couldn't distance herself. Of course at this time, the director calls me, so I'm trying to help Raelynn with her craft and talk with the director at the same time. Halfway through, Raelynn bolts out from the table, grabs my hand, and says "Mommy, I can't do this" and starts running towards the other end of the store. She literally ran away from the craft area and stayed over in the toy section away from everyone else. If anything could have shattered my heart and made me feel like a horrible person, it was that. I spent the rest of my conversation with the director fighting back tears, it just breaks my heart seeing her struggle like this, and I feel guilty for taking her to that. I feel like I should have known better.

    My husband broke down when I talked to him about today and my talk with the director. She's fighting a battle that she can't understand, and it kills us to see it knowing there's not much we can do. :cry:

    (I feel like I shouldn't be complaining, since I know it could be so much worse, but it's so heartbreaking to see my baby girl struggle everyday!)

    I am hoping they can get a plan in place for Raelynn & you're not complaining & only doing the best you can do for your baby girl.
