How did it go?
We had to reschedule for next Wednesday because I managed to throw my back out yesterday just walking at lunchtime. That'll teach me. LOL0 -

Oh, no! What a bummer!0 -
I went to my chiropractor last night and when I walked in he was talking to his previous appointment about the "blood type diet." Pretty sure I rolled my eyes out loud. Then he began to ask me about my powerlifting, and he about lost his kitten when I told him I was currently on 50% carbs. He seriously asked me "What's the science behind that?" I thought, "You've got to be kidding me?!? You were just advocating the blood type diet to someone, and you want to know the 'science' behind mine?!?"
He's a really nice guy and a terrific chiropractor, but I won't be taking diet advice from him anytime soon.5 -

Mine is like that too. Great at adjustments and all, but don't try and sell me the latest diet you are advertising.0 -

My hubby asked our chiropractor what was the best way to permanently fix his back.
Our chiropractor told him to eat well and exercise.
Hubby was a little annoyed. I laughed.4 -

I use some of the essential oils to treat my chronic sinus issues. It's much better, IMO, than constantly being on steroids or antibiotics. I save those for when the oils just can't get the job done. Blood type diet is quackery, pure and simple. And the science behind your 50% carbs is simple: powerlifting burns more calories than most people think. You aren't picking up and putting down 100 lbs. You're doing over 300 lbs. The body needs energy for that and protein for repair when it's over. Just saying...2 -

Pseudoscience is the freaking worst! I LOVE acupuncture (dry needling) there is science to back up the needling aspect, the rest however (diets etc) are sooo much bunk!
50% carbs because you lift his weight up and down regularly, carbs means energy! ROAR!
End rant. xD3 -

I've tried several times to get mine to do that, and he ADAMANTLY refuses.
Awww, boo!!! I've always been a frustrated dancer and he suggested that I start adult classes because I hate every other form of exercise. LOL I am on deck for beginner ballet next week but I saw the couples dance class and insisted he participate. Super excited!
I really want to take dance lessons. Ballroom dancing. One of these days I am going to do this.0 -

Maybe I am gross, but when you think about the volume of water in the average pool, versus how much pee a few people can possibly produce in an hour or so, and it really becomes a drop in the ocean. Plus the water is treated.
The ones who annoy me are the ones who stop and chat in the lane section. You have half the pool to meander about in and I am clearly swimming up and down here in one of only 3 lanes I'm already sharing with 5 other swimmers. Rage!
Still wish I could get back to swimming though.
I don't think it's gross, I was just teasing. There are so many chemicals in public pools, pee doesn't stand a chance. I would love to start swimming, but I HATE being seen in a bathing suit, I hate being cold and wet, and I'm not a fan of public changing rooms.
Why on earth would you hate being seen in a bathing suit Mo? I bet you look fab! I can understand the cold and wet business. My local pool only has cubicle changing. I think there is a little men's and women's section towards the back if communal changing is your thing, but I love the cubicles. Way more privacy and mixed groups don't have to wonder where each other got to.
I hate being seen in a bathing suit too but I do enjoy swimming.0 -

Oh in minor details: My Monday is freaking fabulous because I have a NEPHEW! My little sister gave birth this morning and he is the most beautiful little guy I have ever seen
Congratulations!0 -

Question for you runners: I am doing C25K and am doing about 1.8 miles during each 30 minute each session so far (a whopping 4 of them). I am still doing more walking than running so is this a normal pace for a beginner? I feel like I am going g really slow, but I am also trying not to further ruin my knees. Thanks!0

At the begining I found it to be more Benefital to focus on form rather than speed. I figure that helps me avoid injuries and set backs.
If you are trying to break speed records, don't ask me. I am not a very fast runner. I have increased my speed over time, but what has been my best victory is the increase of my endurance.
You got this!

Everyone has his own pace. The whole walk/run philosophy is strong in running as you build up stamina. Just stick with it and don't get injured! Then you can't run at all.0 -
I start typing responses to threads offering advice, then delete my answers half way through. I've lost 20 lbs since October, but I don't feel like I know enough to offer sound advice.4

You are doing it, so you can certainly try to help other people who are doing it. We don't all agree, but we do all need options.0 -

Melissa running intervals like that is actually training smart as a newer runner imo. When you switch from walking to running you naturally correct your posture, your heart rate has a chance to normalize a bit and your form going into the next interval will be improved. Keep going, sounds like you are doing awesome!2 -

I'm very modest and I have always felt uncomfortable in bathing suits even before I got pregnant. I appreciate the compliment, and I definitely look better now than say, 3ish years ago. Another part is I'm ghost white and I don't want to frighten children and kill old people. I'm working on being more comfortable and confident in public. Also I don't wear bikini bottoms because I hate shaving. There is another reason, but I won't share this in here, maybe in the Cave.0 -

I feel you! I have been weight lifting for over 2 years and I STILL feel like I don't know what I'm doing and am surprised when people ask my advice.
You obviously know a little something, or you wouldn't have lost the weight. Start small, you'll see that you really DO have advice to give and people will listen. Best of luck.1 -

I've always wondered why it's called essential oils. How have I made it this far through life without something essential!?
The linguist in me is assuming it refers to 'essence' but I like to be facetious.4 -
I have zero worries about being super white in a swimming costume. I don't tan, I just burn. Wednesday Adams is my style icon so I don't mind at all!
I do wear a high necked cozzie. I just hate having cleavage when I'm trying to exercise in public. I don't tend to show cleavage very often, why would I want to in the pool?
Don't think I've ever worn a bikini in my life. I've just never wanted to. Now I have a crepe paper belly I can't see that changing. At least I don't miss it.2 -
