sigh, where to start. I've also been massive and I've always been ashamed of it.
I used to take a notepad and pen into a bakery and pretend I was ordering for the office so they didn't know it was all for me to take home and binge on.
I bought a sibling mini easter eggs and secretly opened it and ate some before giving it to them.
I bought the same box of chocolates for my mum for christmas 5 times because I would wrap it and put it under the tree to an hour later, tear it open and eat it and then be forced to replace them. Now I don't buy them until Christmas eve to stop me doing this.5 -

Serious question: are you ashamed of your hair or fingernails or do you do something about them? One's weight is harder to fix but you can do it.
The good thing is you know that you can't have the candy available to you or you will overeat it. As you work on it, you will find more things that work.
Maybe my story will give you hope or make you feel less alone with it.
I weighed 225 lbs at 12. Shame is not the word for how I felt. Kids are cruel. Lost down to 155-160 during puberty (no real effort, my thyroid started working) and because a series of doctors told me my ideal weight is 135 pounds became bulimic. At 138, my body fat was 7.5%. 135 is a deathly ill weight for me. Battled that until I was pregnant with offspring unit 1 was born. By the time offspring unit 4 was born, I weighed 250+. I lost down to 155-160 again with a LOT of work and attention to detail and maintained it for more than a year. I've yo-yoed between 170-180 since late 2015 because husband's mother was awfully sick, passed on, his birth mother died suddenly, and then my dad got sick. (Why on earth I can't use something besides Reese Cups to deal with stress is an issue.) I am working hard again, battling some health issues of my own that are at least keeping me away from the Reeses, and this morning weighed 174.9.
Stick around d we will help you any way we can

I am going to see my dad this evening, then going to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow after yoga and visiting a local brewery for their food truck round up. I'm the designated driver, but my favorite truck makes a killer Cuban that I always eat without bread. And she always serves me first so there hasn't been any bread on her grill. gotta love a business like that.
Christmas shopping
I dont wanna think about Christmas yet!
I'm not ready for Christmas! I still can't believe Dark Thursday/Black Friday is next week already. Where has this year gone? This year we have to work 3 PM to midnight.0 -

Confession: I am sick and tired of rain. It has rained almost continuously since Sunday night, is supposed to keep raining until Thursday and my arthritis is crippling me. I wish I could send it to California to fight the wildfires.1

I have no interest in shopping after Thanksgiving. We have a local trade days weekend then, so that Friday or Saturday, I will likely be shopping local.2

Totally this. In fact, I need to stop at a local shop tomorrow and order a shirt for Offspring unit 1. They do screen printing and are offering a Christmas tee this year that says "Don't be a Grinch; Be a Cindy Lou Who!" She love Dr. Suess and could wear it during the Advent if I can pick it up Black Friday.2 -

Yes, this means you have to listen to me talk about it for 8 more months
Only the BIGGEST 10k in the UNITED STATES!!
For those of you not familiar - it is 7/4/19 and Probably 90 degrees F - 90+% humidity. There is a hill in-front of a hospital known as cardiac hill... a full mile uphill.
My pledge - don’t die and finish 10 min quicker than last year!!!!
Do they let people walk it?
Yes, last year I walked about half of it BC I did not know what to expect. They do have a time cut off, but if you can maintain a 15 min mile you can finish on time even in the last wave. I was in X wave last year. I did not submit a time to get in a better one. I will def do that this year. There are about 30 qualifying races to get times before the 2 week registration window in March.
I am planning a half marathon in March, so hopefully I will be running the whole thing1 -

I can walk at pretty consistent 13 minute mile, actually. I might try it.1 -
Well I AM pretty excited about Christmas this year. I've been blessed with happy childhood memories, and I think it's mainly because A will be nearly three and is at a super cute age. He doesn't know what's coming, but he's paying attention. E is old enough to at least notice something is happening.
I get why you hate the commercialisation though. Even as an atheist, it grates on me, especially when I used to waitress Christmas parties! We don't actually put anything up at home until mid Dec as we have birthdays up til then.
I like to bypass a lot of it by making stuff. In fact, I just finished up making some patchwork stockings for the kids last night. I just need to appliqué their initials on to avoid future arguments. Those kids of mine better start providing me with terrible/adorable handmade decorations when they get older. My house is a taste-free zone at Christmas!
I love this post.
Up until 10 years ago I loves getting the fir trees from the lot. I lived that mountainy pine scent and creatively decorating it.
It was a time for caramel apples, and ginger bread hot and fluffy out of the oven. We would have all sorts of art projects concerning food and otherwise.
The boys would build an elaborate brio train tract around the tree and add their own art as scenery.
Some times I miss that but it was a lot of work.3 -

I love decorating inside and outside. I also get excited about watching all the classic holiday specials on tv. But I do agree that it has gotten out of control...with stores advertising way too early and basically skipping over Thanksgiving, people going nuts and fighting over who gets the last trendy toy off racks at Walmart, etc.
And fight over parking spots1 -

All that talk about Christmas and I'd like to chime in.
Since my birthday is 2 days after Christmas, it's always been a bittersweet time of year for me. A lot of combined Christmas and birthday gifts. It sucks because it leaves nothing to anticipate or look forward to the rest of the year. That's a very selfish way to look at it, but that's just how I feel!
This year is different with it being the grandbaby's first Christmas! We've already started buying him stuff and I cannot wait to see his reactions to everything. Considering he's less than a year old, he probably won't have any idea what's happening, but that's okay. We'll still enjoy it!
As far as a tree goes, I've never been one to decorate before Black Friday, and I don't see that changing. We probably won't put up the big tree this year because Chandler has decided that even though he's fixed, he needs to mark everything in our house. Last year we bought a little mini tree with mini ornaments to put on the TV cabinet so that will probably be our tree again this year! We do the stockings on the mantel too. Luckily, Chandler is too short to reach those!5 -
I'm lactose intolerant to the point I break out across my face and get severe stomach pain if I have dairy.
I still drink a milkshake whenever offered...2 -
I'm a diabetic and I told my doctor that I can eat a candy bar if I drink a diet soda with it because the soda removes the sugar & carbs and cals. Also, when I eat other sweets like cake or cookies taking more insulin to cover the carbs does the same thing. My doctor asked me; "And where did you go to medical school?" I said; 'Oh I just know this stuff because it works for me alright." He told me no I think you better listen to me but I don't.

Same.... And mostly I don't even regret it. However, I have a gallstone that is bothered by refined sugar that has considerably improved my will power.2 -

Eugenia, this is not judgment, but it is a warning: please please please listen to your doctor. Insulin may make you feel okay today, but my dad is in a long term care facility because of diabetic neuropathy, among other health problems. He sometimes cannot stand up on his own and he can no longer drive because he can't tell which pedal his foot is on.3 -

I HATE going to the gym. or Exercise in general. I always accumulate new injuries and they become costly to take care of.4

Yay for first Christmas with grandbaby, Mo!! That's exciting. I agree with Mel that he'll just play with the boxes (and wrapping paper). And I don't think you're selfish for thinking a December birthday sucks. I was sad to find out baby P was due in December for the same reason. I didn't want him growing up hating his December birthday.
Also- boo to Chandler marking in the house!

Still debating on going to my CG workout this evening. We do it outside and the temps are going to be low 40s to the upper 30s. I am thinking I would much rather stay home and warm. At least there is no rain.3

@eugeniaramage Diabetes is nothing to play around with. I really hope you listen to your doctor and not your logic and reasoning. My Dad had to have all his teeth removed because diabetes rotted them all. He now has to wear dentures.2 -
