Confession: I ate over 150g of carbs yesterday for the first time in 13 days. It was peas and potatoes so I don't feel bad about it. I felt bad, like a cold coming on, and that's what I wanted to eat.

I ate a single orange slice the other and my gall bladder protested (2/10 pain for about 5 minutes) about an hour later. I am thinking refined sugar is the problem, but telling myself 125g of carbs daily is my limit will keep me from eating it.

I have no idea how much food 125g of carbs is, but it doesn't sound like much. Good thing you know you so well.

My eating is out of control and I have no idea what I'm consuming calorie/nutrient wise. My weight is very stable but I'm never going to lose the last ten pounds of baby weight this way. Well I might this week as I'm off my food with the lurgy, but I don't think that's a sensible strategy.

Oatmeal or granola with yogurt for breakfast. An Rx Bar or protein bar as a snack. Salad or veggie-packed soup for lunch. And rice or potatoes with dinner. Not much refined room for refined sugar, but enough to get my veg and a fruit or two in.

And no, losing weight by being sick is not a sensible strategy. It does happen, but I hope you feel better soon.

Friday fun: what's everyone doing for the weekend (besides Quik, who's chasing bad guys)?
I am going to see my dad this evening, then going to do some Christmas shopping tomorrow after yoga and visiting a local brewery for their food truck round up. I'm the designated driver, but my favorite truck makes a killer Cuban that I always eat without bread. And she always serves me first so there hasn't been any bread on her grill. gotta love a business like that.

    Christmas shopping

I dont wanna think about Christmas yet!

I'm not ready for Christmas! I still can't believe Dark Thursday/Black Friday is next week already. Where has this year gone? This year we have to work 3 PM to midnight.

Confession: I am sick and tired of rain. It has rained almost continuously since Sunday night, is supposed to keep raining until Thursday and my arthritis is crippling me. I wish I could send it to California to fight the wildfires.

I have no interest in shopping after Thanksgiving. We have a local trade days weekend then, so that Friday or Saturday, I will likely be shopping local.

Totally this. In fact, I need to stop at a local shop tomorrow and order a shirt for Offspring unit 1. They do screen printing and are offering a Christmas tee this year that says "Don't be a Grinch; Be a Cindy Lou Who!" She love Dr. Suess and could wear it during the Advent if I can pick it up Black Friday.

    @italian_buju - no. He wants a tree..

But - for me I just reserved my room for the 50th anniversary Peachtree Road Race....

Yes, this means you have to listen to me talk about it for 8 more months

Only the BIGGEST 10k in the UNITED STATES!!

For those of you not familiar - it is 7/4/19 and Probably 90 degrees F - 90+% humidity. There is a hill in-front of a hospital known as cardiac hill... a full mile uphill.

My pledge - don’t die and finish 10 min quicker than last year!!!!

Do they let people walk it?

Yes, last year I walked about half of it BC I did not know what to expect. They do have a time cut off, but if you can maintain a 15 min mile you can finish on time even in the last wave. I was in X wave last year. I did not submit a time to get in a better one. I will def do that this year. There are about 30 qualifying races to get times before the 2 week registration window in March.

I am planning a half marathon in March, so hopefully I will be running the whole thing :)

I can walk at pretty consistent 13 minute mile, actually. I might try it.

Well I AM pretty excited about Christmas this year. I've been blessed with happy childhood memories, and I think it's mainly because A will be nearly three and is at a super cute age. He doesn't know what's coming, but he's paying attention. E is old enough to at least notice something is happening.

I get why you hate the commercialisation though. Even as an atheist, it grates on me, especially when I used to waitress Christmas parties! We don't actually put anything up at home until mid Dec as we have birthdays up til then.

I like to bypass a lot of it by making stuff. In fact, I just finished up making some patchwork stockings for the kids last night. I just need to appliqué their initials on to avoid future arguments. Those kids of mine better start providing me with terrible/adorable handmade decorations when they get older. My house is a taste-free zone at Christmas!

    I love this post.
Up until 10 years ago I loves getting the fir trees from the lot. I lived that mountainy pine scent and creatively decorating it.
It was a time for caramel apples, and ginger bread hot and fluffy out of the oven. We would have all sorts of art projects concerning food and otherwise.
The boys would build an elaborate brio train tract around the tree and add their own art as scenery.
Some times I miss that but it was a lot of work.

I have awesome childhood memories around the Christmas holiday. I also have a young son that makes Christmas a super fun and exciting time of year for us. I love decorating inside and outside. I also get excited about watching all the classic holiday specials on tv. But I do agree that it has gotten out of control...with stores advertising way too early and basically skipping over Thanksgiving, people going nuts and fighting over who gets the last trendy toy off racks at Walmart, etc.

    And fight over parking spots

I'm lactose intolerant to the point I break out across my face and get severe stomach pain if I have dairy.

I still drink a milkshake whenever offered...

I'm a diabetic and I told my doctor that I can eat a candy bar if I drink a diet soda with it because the soda removes the sugar & carbs and cals. Also, when I eat other sweets like cake or cookies taking more insulin to cover the carbs does the same thing. My doctor asked me; "And where did you go to medical school?" I said; 'Oh I just know this stuff because it works for me alright." He told me no I think you better listen to me but I don't.
