    Vent:

Dear Pinterest posters and recipe bloggers,

I don’t need you to write a book on how the taste of coconut curry reminds you of your trip to Thailand in 1982.

Just snap a couple pics and give me the recipe.

    Right?!

I don't see the point of trying to eat healthy or low carb when it comes to Chinese food. Everything involves corn starch, sugar, and sweet sauces. If you're going there to order stir fry meat and veggies, save the money, and make it yourself.

I let myself have whatever when we order/eat at the buffet. I don't want to be one of those picky, annoying, special-order people: "no sugar, no corn starch, sauce on the side."

When I go out to eat, I order things that I don't make at home.

    Agreed
When I am at a restaurant, I want to eat something delicious that I can’t make. I can make salad and basic stuff at home.
I also can’t eat at 99% of Italian restaurants cuz yuck compared to my home cooking 😬

Panic buying has set in here in rural north Nottinghamshire, even though covid-19 hasn't and schools are still open. I already had a stash due to my Brexit fears so haven't been to a shop in a week, but rather dreading tomorrow as we're starting to need some fresh stuff and nappies (diapers). It's not so much finding stuff, we'll manage, it's more dealing with PEOPLE!

I don’t know a ton about Brexit. Why did it make you panic buy?

I went to Walmart at 6 am. I was able to get everything on my list except chicken breast. Had to settle for thighs. The store was VERY picked over.

Yup, looked like my local Wal-Mart here too.
Jamaica was just as bad and could not wrap their heads around that it was happening here too, in the ‘developed’ world. Everyone I talked to kept saying ‘no, you don’t understand, you can’t even get toilet paper’.

    A vent...
My dad is in ICU with flu and pneumonia worsened by significant emphysema. Has been there since the 11th. This hospital is 1:30 from my house. My mother is a total hypochondriac. My aunt and I had a bet as to how long it would be before she was in the ER. We missed our bet by 16 hours. She was on her way with chest pains then burped really big x3 and her chest pains miraculously ended immediately. Go figure. I can’t even make this stuff up.

This on top of the corona madness has about done me in.

Also - I picked March to quit drinking. Been dry for going on 15 days.

    Ugh!!! Thanks for listening.

But.... here are a couple adorable baby pics. Silver lining, right???🥰🥰🥰🥰

I was meant to be working from home today while looking after a two year old and four year old. We had a power cut from 9am-4pm so we spent the rather sunny day playing in the garden instead. I've got a lot of hours to somehow make up but I regret NOTHING!

    I love this!

I only work 16 hours a week and can do most of my role from home just fine, but fitting that in without childcare is extremely challenging. They're 2 and 4 and can't really entertain themselves unsupervised for any time at all. I hate that I'm having to work every day and work evenings to make up my part time job, losing what little free time I had. Obviously I'm glad I still have a job but I could scream at anyone who complains of being bored. I DREAM of having time to be bored!

I have been inside 58 days now and havent been bored on second. I am home so little in my normal life that I have unlimited stuff to do in here.
I am so glad I dont have kids now, so bless you on that one!

One of my neighbours who has been going out every day in his car (no he isn't a keyworker) was escorted home by the police this week. And he was back out again yesterday.

Good thing he isn't on this thread, as I'd be breaking the no judgement rule very, very much. If we get stuck in lockdown for the whole summer, I'm blaming him!

People like this piss me off!

Me, too! I'm not judging Spam for jusging this neighbor. (I am an essential worker and so is my husband and we stay home all the time except for work and essential shopping.)

My 16 year old son had to pick a documentary to watch for school. He picked "What The Health". 26 minutes in, and he's already figured out it is vegan propaganda. I'm so proud!

I watched it... the whole thing. I still eat bacon. Smithfield (the company singled out) bacon when I am too cheap to buy Wrights.

    BRING ON THE MEAT!!!! LOL

    Career goal:

I want to be the person that names new prescription drugs.

It appears that they just join random syllables.

Here are some I have come up with:
    Turexin
    Durolia
    Flarazia
    Shumeria

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I didn't panic buy, I just stocked up bit by bit over weeks. Basically when we drop out of Europe without a trade deal (increasingly likely) imports will all be delayed due to extra customs checks. The vast majority of food pickers are from Eastern Europe so we'll have massive labour shortages and prices will go up. And I knew people would panic when the time came and cause artificial shortages. Seems I wasn't far off the mark based on recent events!

@quiksylver296 I've not seen the documentary, but I did cut down on meat consumption mainly for environmental concerns. I'm not a vegan, not even a vegetarian, I just cut down a bit and made a few easy switches. Baby steps.

    CONFESSION:

I’ve been working remotely for 4+ weeks and I love it. I would rather be here than home.

I went home for the weekend and referred to THIS as home to my husband... I think he was offended.

I have been working mostly from home since March 27. I love it.
