I am so grateful for all of you who respond to everyone....some days all I can do is read the posts and enjoy every word....I think of responses but can't do the necessary composing to respond.
I have been watching the World Figure Skating Championships on TV (Canadian TV has more than the US networks) and riding my exercise bike while I watch. I took a long walk with a friend this morning in beautiful weather....that, along with several walks with the dogs have counted up to 26,000 steps.
This story will tell you how obsessed I am with my pedometer.....this morning after I'd been walking Sasha for about 10 minutes, I took the pedometer out of my pocket to see what time it was.....the battery was dead, so I immediately took Sasha back into the house and replaced the battery while she watched me in amazement...if my pedometer isn't counting my steps, I don't feel like I'm walking.

Heather: The rhubarb vodka sounds fantastic. Thank you for the recipe. Can hardly wait to try it. I think finishing writing the book is a tremendous feat on its own. If you never push the final steps to self-publish, know that I am in awe of what you’ve accomplished.

Cindy in SoMD: Hang in here with us. You won’t find a more supportive cheering section. I travel about 2 weeks of every month, but make a priority to get back here when I’m home.
I used to belong to an organization called “Women in Show Business” which was comprised of the personal assistants to performers, stars and other entertainment industry luminaries. My friends in that group worked for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, and Carol Burnett. We met monthly and did an annual fundraiser for children born with facial deformities. You want to hear some great insider stories? These gals were a trove of juicy stories and insider dirt. However, times have changed. The group has dissolved and the paparazzi now makes a living out of exposing every little bit of celebrity gossip. Nothing is shocking anymore.
I had to cut my workout short today due to pain from Morton’s neuroma. This ailment has been coming and going for about 6 months now, and I manage the pain through meditation and visualization. But this morning it just got the better of me. My back isn’t feeling so great either. Must be overdue for chiropractor and massage therapy.
My alma mater UCLA is out of the NCAA basketball tournament. Think I’ll join Barbie and watch figure skating.

I was so much in love with Remington Steele. But as he has aged, he has really lost appeal. I know we all age, I sure have but I'm just not as infatuated. Oh gosh, I said Remington Steel. I meant Pierce Brosnan. It was his character as Remington Steelle I loved. Ididn't like him as James Bond.
Sharon, I am so glad your husband went with you to counseling. Individual counseling may be a bit more difficult though. When our daughter was in Elementary school and the staff thought she needed to be put on Ritalin I was not going to just do that without being tested first. So DH and I go there with daughter and when we finished, he had daughter go sit out in the lobby and talked to DH and myself.. First he said DD was not ADHD at all, she was understimulated due to her IQ. Then he turned to DH and asked if he could do individual counseling with with! That did not go well at all. According to DH the only problem with his is everyone else in the world. They are incompetent, politicians running the government wrong, police not enforcing rules. There was nothing wrong with him. His anger is only in response to some one doing something wrong. He wouldn't be angry if everyone else in the world did what they were supposed to do.
The question about bathroom vs larger closet? How big is your closet? You say it is a nice size now. I would go for the bigger bathroom. HGTV says bathrooms and kitchens sell a house.
Today was errand day. Needed to go to Best Buy, Walmart, a local consignment store that carries everything from furniture to toys and then Bed Bath and beyond. I wanted to look at the consignment show for some additional things for the girls bedrooms in their new house. I have the stick ons for the walls, was surprised that I spent $50 on what I bought. So I found one of those collapsing chairs with comfy furry fabric in pink of course, I cute lion to put on a dresser or bedside table and a really cute hot pink wire basket that can hold who knows what. They already have one of those chairs and it's a smaller one so Ellie can have that in her room and Trinity can have the larger one in her room. I wish I knew what kind of window covering they are using. What they have now is a sheet pinned to the wall. UGH! The rest of the house they just have the provided white blinds which don't do very well with a large dog.

Sharon - so glad your hubby went to the counseling!
Gilly - we enjoyed the Murder Mystery dinner. I guess (at least for us) the most involvement is trying to get the costumes together. Then again, if you go to a Murder Mystery at a restaurant, you probably don't have to do that.
Sylvia - thanks for telling me about the flag. I never knew (probably because I've never used it!)
After exercise today went to IGA just to get a bottle of wine that I think Kris will like, then to Bi-Lo for things on sale, then my list for Aldi was getting quite long so went there.
Then home and made the chicken I had marinating in the refrigerator, a turkey quinoa meatloaf (if Vince doesn't like it, I'll eat it), steamed asparagus that I'd gotten, cut up mushrooms and roasted them. Now they're in the freezer and I'll put them in a bag so I can have them later on in my salad. Then church. I'd completely forgotten it was the Passion, so not only was I the lector but also the "voice" (not that the voice has many parts). Home for dinner, will try to work some on the latchhook.
Janet - the chocolate cake, actually, didn't taste all that good. why I had that second piece is beyond me. Maybe I was hoping it would get better tasting.
Sending healing thoughts to everyone who needs them
Sylvia - we have a whirlpool in our bathroom. Honestly, since we've lived here, I think I can count on one hand how many times I've used it. Now I'm in the pool just about every day during the summer. What a wonderful hubby you have there! Cute joke!
Alison - you certainly do do a lot of work and running around. You make me tired just reading about your day
Kim - I found the party rye in Lowe's Foods. Didn't expect that, but you can bet I certainly scarfed it up
Rori - your posts are so very interesting. I can just imagine the things you can tell us (why not do it???). Here's hoping you feel better fast.

Sunday and woke to rain, so no drive out. Himeself is watching cricket, Australia versus New Zealand. Formula 1 tonight. Hope New Zealand wins.
I went for my 2 mile walk in the drizzle, at least THAT is done.
I have a nice big shower closet and a full bath. Going to have a soak after dinner

Good evening everyone! We had a very busy day today, basketball, DSonIL and DGS1&2 came over for the evening to shoot their new shotguns. I made chicken wings in the oven that were so good that DGS2 ate 10 times his normal. They stayed until almost 10:30
I think we should all meet up sometime and go on a cruise! That would be so much fun.
Sylvia - you have such cute goof balls! They look so well behaved! We went for a 3/4 bath when we finished our lower level. It's nice and large we love it.
Barbie - I am hooked on weight lifting! I can't believe the immediate and noticeable results in just 4 weeks. My DGS said tonight that I look skinny like auntie Heather except with muscles! My DH can't believe how tight and toned my legs and butt have gotten. I have dropped a pant size in the last week and will probably drop another one really soon. Not losing weight though, just inches. Glad to hear that you are going to start lifting again. I only regret not starting sooner!
Rori - I read up on mortons neuroma, it sounds like what my DH has going on in his hand due to severing his radial nerve. I know that he is in pain quite often. With opinion and needles similar to what you must be going through. Have you thought of going to the Mayo Clinic? They treat that with a surgical procedure.
Allison - you deserve that phone!

It's been a busy few days. Today was so busy at work and my patience was tried by both customers and staff. I know the majority of interactions are positive however they are not the ones that crawl under the skin and make you want to say "Here's your sign"
Had a nap and pushed reset.
DH wanted to go to Chapters so I roused myself even though I could have been quite happy just staying home. He surprised me by taking me out for Fish and Chips. I could have made something at home but my kitchen looks like a bomb went off in it and I still have no desire to remedy that situation. Supper, Chapters and then out to a friend's farm for coffee.
I am so afraid that DS is being manipulated by Her. All I can do is to love him and pray that he doesn't make a mistake.
Brunch at our friends tomorrow. 9 a.m. I was hoping to sleep in. Don't I just sound like an ungrateful little whiner?
Thank you all for your support in my difficult situation. Hoping that's a light at the end of the tunnel I see and not a rail engine set to run over me.
Time to hit the sack.

Cindy: don’t despair. A lot of us have rough spots. It doesn’t mean we’re giving up or are New Year’s dieters or are not interested.
Lesley: still thinking of you. Mildred was so lucky to have people like you.
Alison: you’re far from spoiled. But you know that.
I actually got motivated to do some tidying up around here, correspondence, paying bills etc. In my experience that’s a sign I’m starting to feel better. Hope it continues. Still busy with the work overlapping (till May 1), so I haven’t been working out much and “hobbies” like genealogy are kind of on the back burner for now.

Cindy - I have bad news for you. This is a never ending journey and it will never be over and it is never quick. :sad: As Katla said, it is a whole lifestyle change, not a diet where the weight falls off at a steady rate. It took me 18 months to lose my 57 lbs. The last few lbs took AGES. But I got there and now maintenance entails hard work, persistence and dedication. :sad: Without the perks of new sizes in clothes and peoples astonished compliments. Is it worth it? HELL YES! ! ! ! ! ! ! I sympathise that is especially hard when you do a lot of travelling - I have found that difficult, but let Rori be your example! Rigorous logging and planning is the key.
- I only have one Friend because I have found I don't need/want more as this thread is such a grest help to me. I could not have done it without them and I certainly could not have maintained, which is even harder. 95% of dieters put all their weight and more back within a couple of years. Only those who have changed their life style and included a lot of exercise in their daily life manage to sustain it. I have been on maintenance for 15 months and log everything every day and do 600 cals exercise. Do I want to? No! I am by nature a lazy slob, but, in Pip's words, I have chosen my "hard". Being fat is the hardest. I always remember that misery.
Rori - love your stories. :flowerforyou: One of my charities is a facial deformity one called Facing The World. They operate on kids with the most horrific deformities. I cannot comprehend what they go through. Our faces are the way we relate to the world and the way it relates to us.

Good Sunday morning everyone. I hope everyone is doing great.
Yesterday was the first day back to work for me in almost 3 weeks. I was exhausted by the time I got home. I am starting to see the light at the end of the sickness tunnel. Tomorrow I have another dr appointment. Hope he gives me good news.
To those who love to cruise.....please, please, please think long and hard before you purchase jewelry on board ship or ashore. Jewelry is an emotional purchase and people on vacation lose their minds (alcohol helps) and do things they would never had done if they were not brainwashed from the moment they step foot on the cruise ship. The best advice I can give is NO one is selling $20.00 bills for $10.00, but they definitely will sell you a $10.00 bill for $20.00. If you do purchase jewelry read the contract before you sign the reciept and understand that buyers remorse is not a reason for a return. Also most have a time frame in which to make a claim for return, and remember that most of the time you are not in the United States but in a foreign country and under their laws. Also don't be fooled that the cruise ship personnel are looking out for your best interest. They make commission on every purchase you make (that is why they have VIP cards....that is how they track who gets what).
Ok enough of my ranting....

The longest journey starts with a single step....no one goes from couch to 5K overnight or from pizza to steamed veggies and grilled chicken in one big leap.....we have all gotten to where we are by taking baby steps and gradually making exercise and healthy eating a regular part of our lives--so much that a day without exercise or a day of high calorie/low nutrition eating feels terrible and we yearn to get back on the healthy path.
I was extra lazy this morning and lay in bed for a long time snuggling with the pets and not wanting to get up. Fortunately I have no deadline so the dogs and I can walk a little later and still have plenty of time.

Happy Sunday! I am so behind on reading the posts and will do my best to catch up. It has been a very stressful week. I spent most the week at the hospital in Kearney with my mom. They finally found the reason for the blood loss and are sure they can cure it with meds. Glad about that. She went home with my sister on Friday and will stay with her a couple weeks to get her strength up. I will tell you I was scared until the last couple days. Friday was a year ago dad passed away in the same hospital only about 5 rooms down the hall. But God is Good and she is better.
My eating has been off all week, so starting today I am back on logging and doing better choices. Things at work are getting really weird as girl they put in charge it has gone to her head and she is sending out lots of notes on how to do things. I have been here 28 years and I know how to do my job. I am trying really hard to just sit back, do my job and let her do whatever. I do think it is funny as the main reason they gave her the job, was because they could control her. What a wake up call for them.
It is to be in the 60's here again today. I am working a short day and off at 2. So plan to enjoy what I can.

Heather in UK – I will have to look for that cookbook maybe online. And the spiraliser – well I could use one today – I found a recipe for sweet potatoe and carrot fries – it says use a spiraliser to cut them – season and bake. I thought they would be really cool for the DGKids today. But I will just make them like fries…
Cindy in SoMD – plateaus are tough to break sometimes. Hang in there, patience is what is needed now. Here – try this - cut 100 calories and burn 100 extra calories.
Sylvia – that is so great for your son to get help from DH.
Katla – ohhh gardening – I can’t wait. The snow is melting rapidly here. Lots of water running everywhere. But my garden is still under a foot of snow. But thanks for reminding me – I better go find my tomato seeds and get them started. It is about a month late – but that is okay I won’t have to worry about the frost when I set them outside.
About the shower / bathtub issue. In our master ensuite we have just a shower. Our house was built 20 years ago and we built it ourselves. My DS’s new house has a soaker tub and a shower in their master ensuite. And it has a huge walk in closet. And a huge bedroom – the king size bed looks small in it. Go figure.
Janet – I am caught between sizes right now. But I really need to go through my closet again – there are clothes that I thought I should keep – not sure the reason why now – they are frumpy I think…. They need to go…I haven’t worn them for several years….
Barbie – I left home one day without my pedometer and when I discovered I didn’t have it – my day was ruined…my goodness OCD or what!! I watched the figure skating the other day with my DGD – she is 19 mos old – and kept saying “Ice gammy?”
Rori – yes go for a massage. They feel soooooo good!! And I am off to the Mayo Clinic to look up Morton’s neuroma.
Sharon – so glad DH went to counseling with you. Prayers and hugs that everything goes well. Hang in there.
Mary – I have been using weights when I walk and when I am on my rebounder – not losing weight either – but sizes are changing…. Hopefully the muscle will burn some calories soon. I would really like to see the scale move down.
Well.... finished tax returns for 3 people yesterday. went for a walk, rebounder for 30 mins....
AND oh my goodness..I spent time ready back on some posts and not watching the time.. it is already 7:45 and I have kids coming today at 3 o'clock. I have a crap load of work to do to get ready... gotta go...I want to get a walk in tooooo....

Rori, Katla, Janet, Cynthia, Barbie, Mary, Lillian - Thanks for all the encouragement. I am one of those with a very large amt of weight to lose, so will be here for the long haul. I am 16 lbs down with a goal of at least 120 more.
Heather UK – it’s not bad news! It’s good news that folks like you can make it thru the fast and slow of weight loss, and keep going. It keeps me going to open this thread and see the tickers with lots of lbs lost, but grounding to see that it will probably take longer than I think. I much appreciate your advice, and steadfast logging/blogging. I know I need to make major long term lifestyle changes and keep a close eye on what is working and what isn’t – and change as needed – adaptive management as they say. But it is discouraging to not lose for a while. So… time to adapt and do some things differently!
Today is taxes, maybe a bit of gardening, housework, a bit of computer work. My tomato starts are about 3” high and doing well. Frost here in southern Maryland last nite (late for us, many years I have a few veg outside by now).
I’m an empty nester still cleaning out and rearranging the nest. Yesterday I took another shot at cleaning out old books from the kids rooms, keeping all the favorites – but giving many to the local thrift shop, and plenty of junk to recycle. For years I have saved up furniture, beds, and much other crap thinking that it would be good starter stuff for the kids. They’ve taken some of it, but one moved to the west coast, so that is the end of giving big stuff to her. In yesterday’s Washington Post there was a great article about how your kids don’t want your stuff:

Cindy - excellent article! ! ! ! I agree with every word! It's one of the reasons I finally got round to self publishing my old novel. I didn't want it just thrown out in the trash! :laugh: I had this fantasy that the kids would get all my scribbles published. I think NOT! DS#2 was very rude the other day about some of my inherited antique china. They don't have our kinds of sentiments. I'm sure my "memory boxes" will go in the bin! :sad:
Lillian - the cookbook is on line on Amazon and is free for this weekend only. I enjoyed the soup and it is useful to remind oneself of all the soups that are so delicious and good for you!
Barbie - you would have enjoyed seeing me today, preparing my Tandoori Monkfish in my kitchen, with my new bluetooth headphones on, dancing away to my bhangra album. It was three quarters of an hour of pure joy, even if some of the dancing was one legged to spare my knee! :laugh: ! In fact I am still listening to it typing this and jigging away on the sofa. (Poor DH)!

Sylvia: We have a Jacuzzi bathtub and enjoy it very much when we have sore muscles. The only thing I dislike about it is the noise level. I wouldn’t want a hot tub because of the water care and size. We really don’t have the room for it anywhere, anyway. We don’t have a pool and neither of us are strong swimmers. We can swim, but are more inclined to play in and on the water. When we’re boating we always wear good quality and comfortable life jackets.
Mary: I’m happy for you that you're enjoying weight lifting. It is great that you’ve found something you enjoy that is doing so much for your fitness.
Heather: I agree with every word you said to Cindy. I do have a few “friends” and they’re mostly people who I met through this board. Some are not actively posting here now because of busy lives, but they do post on the friends list.
Beth in ME: Thanks for the tips about cruise ships. Your comments make perfect sense to me. I haven’t been aboard a cruise ship as a passenger but there is one cruise on my wish list, and that is to Alaska. Actually, friends took a riverboat cruise/tour of Europe and loved it, so that is also on my fantasy list. DH would be unlikely to go for it, though. Sitting on a plane for the flight to get there would be very painful for him.
Vicki: I’m glad that your mom’s situation is improving. I’m happy she was able to go home with your sister.
Lillian: I buy one tomato plant for my tiny garden each year. It is always a cherry tomato. I like Sweet 100’s best. I also get volunteers. Last year, the volunteers took over and I plan to weed them out this year. We'll see if I can make myself pull them up.
Cindy in So MD: Thanks for the link to the kids don’t want your stuff article. I’ve found they also don’t want THEIR stuff that we’ve been storing for decades. :noway: :mad:
We seem to have a gorgeous morning to enjoy. I’m sure DH wants to launch his fishing boat. I can handle that idea today. He wants to keep it in the water for a while. I have no idea how long “a while” will last. Luckily it is easy to launch and retrieve.

I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Dave Clark Five in Wichita. I think we saw the Monkees, too because one of my sisters was a huge fan. Maybe we were there at the same time!!!!!!
Janet - the cruise sounds so nice. I wish I could do this with my sister. She has stage 4 cancer and is so afraid to go anywhere or do anything even though she is doing quite well.
Pip - I love the term "under-growing" your clothes. I am doing that and have little to wear right now. Thank goodness for Good Will!
Heather - nothing like rhubarb vodka, a comfy couch, and a good book - HA I am proud to call you my writer friend when I tell others about this group.

Barbie, I do have to laugh at you. I think you are walking weather your pedometer measures your steps or not. And I’m so sure that Sasha knows when you are walking or not. Now, just get to those weights and let Sasha watch.
Rori, I took my first cruise three years ago and I was hooked!! On a cruise, you can do as much or as little as you like. The room steward attends to your room twice a day and they have free 24 hour room service. I mean, what’s not to like? If you’ve never been, I highly recommend you give it a try. I hate to hear that you are in pain. Sending good thoughts your way for it to leave you alone.
Joyce, I had to giggle when reading about your DH. He sounds somewhat like mine, in that the government is full of incompetent crooks, store clerks don’t care a thing about customer service because they are too busy flirting with the clerk next to them or talking/texting on their cell phones, etc., etc., etc., except thank goodness my DH doesn’t get angry. He just has to tell me about it all the time. Like I haven’t heard it a thousand times before. My mom gave him a T Shirt one year that said, “It must be hard to be perfect”, and he didn’t think it was too funny. Boy, I sure did!
Sylvia, I’ve had a whirlpool garden tub in two of my homes and I rarely used them either. If not used often, when you first turn on the jets, you see this “scum” come out of the jets and that was a total turn off to me. Eww
Mary, I’m so excited for you and your progress with the weight lifting. Not to mention impressed that you are doing it at home. I wish I thought it was something I could attempt, but with my back I wouldn’t chance it. I’ll just stick to my light weights and keep on keeping on.
Heather, thank you for your post. Your words are so true and a good reminder to us all that this is not easy, not fun and never-ending. But the results are worth it unless we like to be FAT. I am really the lazy slob and would happily never do any real exercise other than walking to the feeding trough, but I hate being fat more than I hate exercise. You are a testament that we can maintain after we reach our goals. Good for you and good luck to all of us still on the journey toward maintenance. (*)
Beth, you made a good point about buying jewelry on a cruise. That is not a problem for me as I don’t go on a cruise to shop for anything other than a few inexpensive trinkets. I actually have a friend that bought a $100 set of sheets on our first cruise. This woman couldn’t even afford the cruise much less these sheets and they ended up not fitting her bed. The main thing on a cruise is to use your brain.
Barbie, isn’t it wonderful to snuggle in bed with pets? It was very cold here this morning so I did the same thing.
Vicki, so happy to hear that your mom is better. I know that must be a huge relief for you. It’s funny (NOT) how some people in a new position think they have to start out with all kinds of changes, when what they need is to sit back and really evaluate, not to mention, ask questions. So often, the people in jobs have wonderful suggestions for improvement but managers fail to ask for it. You hang in there and keep your head down, what you are doing will work out for you in the end.
Lillian, I finally went into my closet yesterday and removed some pants that are just too, too big. I need to do more of it. I know what you mean about wanting to see the scale move, even when the sizes are going down. I am really between sizes right now, too and wanting to hold off on buying. What I have bought, I got on the snug side, knowing I will be smaller one of these days.
Cindy, even though I don’t have quite as much to lose as you do, I truly understand that it is not good news in how long it can take. But the good news is, we can do it. We totally have to take it one day at a time. In life, it’s always fun and exciting to look forward to things in our future, but we can only live in the now. I look forward to the day I reach my goal weight but I have to concentrate on now in order to get there. Hang in there and know we are with you. The article was very interesting. So nice that kids can start their adult lives without hand-me-down furniture. But I do admit, I have slowly been getting rid of some of the first grade drawings and baby clothes that will never be used again.
Heather, I’m glad you are publishing the book, because I agree that our kids have no interest in that kind of thing. I honestly don’t worry about what will be left for my DD, because she has little interest in any of it. I have some beautiful hand painted fruit bowls from my grandmother, who I never knew, but will DD even want to keep them? Doubtful. The really sad thing to me is that DD is an only child who has had no children, so our family ends here. I love picturing you dancing around the kitchen. What a happy way to cook.
Katla, we had two cherry tomato plants last year in an area between the house and the sidewalk. They got so huge, even with tying them up, that we had to walk out in the yard to get around them.

This afternoon I am going to a style show at the Women of the Moose. It is usually a good time and I’ll get to see the new spring styles. DH keeps talking about eating out. It used to be my entertainment but now it’s a chore, trying to eat healthy. I’m still not sure if he wants to do it for himself or for me? I’m just ready for the scale to move again, even ½ pound. So better get my butt to exercises.

afternoon ladies,
just popping in quick to check in... was up early and went to see DFIL, today was I am not eating day, so we didnt try and force the issue. Then Tom and I went to Lowes again, did get a couple of questions answered and picked up new tub and tub surround,DB and DSIL came in truck and got the surround for us.. so sent them home with Carrot cake..
going to have stuffed sole for dinner today.. now to keep on working in my bedroom getting rid of stuff...spring cleaning so to speak0 -

Had a slow start to today. I was quite tired and did not hear the alarm. DH worked really hard & pushed himself on a shower project. He felt lousey overnight & in the am but seems better now.
I saw the Tuscan pork receipe on the blog earlier in the week and will adapt it for a roast for tonight's dinner.
SharonGlad the counseling worked out. I was in my 20's when my ex and I went for a counseling appointment together. I shared and he walked out. After which the therapist told me she was afraid for my safety. I knew she was right, and let him move out. It was one of the hardest and best things I've ever done.
Sylvia I think it's great that you can do some major remodeling. I know folks buy and sell homes more often in today's world. I have some remodeling to do, however since I be spending our time and money on it, I want to be sure it meets our needs and preferences. In the past 10 years I've seen the value of this house drop by half, and then increase by a quarter. All that to say is I think that a home has its greatest value when we are living in it and allows us the be comfortable and relaxed. Don't be afraid to put your preferences first.

Happy Sunday to All!
DH and I were going to eat at Taco Bell today and then go to one of the only flea markets in the area. He got in a tirade over the driver in front of us not noticing the light change right away and just about ruined the day. We went to a Chinese buffet instead and then home. I am to the point that I dread going anywhere in the car with him.
Beautiful chilly Spring day here. My tulips have bloomed and only lasted a couple of days. I need to get weed killer and fertilizer for the lawn this week. The azaleas should bloom sometimes soon.
For all of you who like the rhubarb vodka ~ I can't even imagine it. But, I have never tasted rhubarbs and only knew that you put them in pies. I will stick to my merlot and chardonay.
We did take a cruise on our 25th wedding anniversary. I decided it wasn't for me. I did enjoy the Jamaican port...the water was so lovely.
As for keeping furniture and dishes for the kids, I think my son and his family will not want much of ours. Most will probably go in an estate sale. My sister and I are presently worried about what to do with my mom's stuff when she passes. She has some very nice furniture, but, all of us have enough furniture and we all have china, etc.
I would love to have a jetted tub.

Katla - we put in a jacuzzi too. We like to use it for sore muscles and a magnesium bath with epsom salt! You are right about the noise! Have fun with your DH out on your boat!

Janet - I have 2 crushed vertebrae in my neck, dove into swimmg pool at 8 years couldn' move for a while, my sister pulled me out. I didn't tell my alcoholic dad, herniated disks at L4 and L5, a facet joint rub at l4 and l5, sideways scoliosis from left to right mid back. I feel better since I started liftingheavy. I started out slow and am going up very slowly. You know your body and can tell if it is easy or hard. I had been going up by 5 lbs but may switch to increasing by 1 lb. I'm in charge and I feel very strong and confident that I can tell if it is too much or I can do it. Form is most important. 5 reps with perfect form or you count it as 4 reps then next time you don't increase until you get 5 reps with perfect form. Just like eating it is a life journey a small step at a time. I started out with a 12.5 lb barbell, not the 45 lb that men would. I am up to 76 lbs on squats and dead lift 45 overhead press...baby steps now, but I love it , I have decreased cardio at least 90 minutes per day. And will probably eliminate 2 days of cardio completely. More time to do other things You have to do what you feel comfortable with.

Cindy, thanks for the article on kids not wanting our stuff. One of the things that is most important to me is all of the work I've done on genealogy. The comments in the article have made me think that I need to make sure that I have everything in an electronic format as this may be more acceptable for saving. I think I will also start looking around for cousins and their kids etc who may want to continue on with the work and will appreciate what I have compiled.
Shoot Cynthia, talking about genealogy has reminded me of my promise to find a couple of pictures of the inside of the stone house to share. Sorry for the delay. There were 10 kids who slept in the loft and my great grandparents slept on the main floor. As you can see there isn't much of the loft left.

Carey - yes I wonder too what to do with all my genealogy research. They say that kids don't get interested in it again after the school projects... until their 40's and sometimes 50's.
And goodness I have tried to send the boxes of their collectable home to their houses... I phone and say - he does this Nintendo work - Yes mom, don't throw it out it is worth money some day... can I send it to your house then? No, you can keep it there..
Tomato plants - there are some new varieties now that grow hanging upside down. Or even in hanging baskets for all those that are limited in their space.... I remind you all I have a Triple E yard...Expansive, Expensive and Exhaustive...
I have cleaned my veggies, parboiled the carrots sticks and sweet potato sticks and the Brussels sprouts so I can just pop them in the oven to brown and crisp up, Raw veggies are cleaned and ready and the salad is made... DH is in charge of the Ham steaks he says he going to BBQ... I cleaned house yesterday and did 3 tax returns so that I could get my 10,000 steps in today. So I have walked my doggie and as soon as I am done here I will do my 30 minutes on the rebounder while I watch the curling...
And I am ready for the kids and grandkids to arrive....
