Though I've hit a bit of a weight loss plateau these past 6 months, I'm trying to figure out ways of incorporating more cardio into my life and maybe changing things up... definitely need to work on the diet part of my weight loss. Ugh. But I don't think I could ever give up lifting, addicted... thoroughly addicted.
Do what you want, do what makes you feel good and the rest will fall into place. It feels good to be strong, I'll take that any day.
In 8-9 months? My guess would be leg press - but even that would be 665 lb total (assuming a 125 lb sled). I'm not believing this one either. In fact, I'm less inclined to believe this than the other.
Someone asked if she meant 1 rep and 6 reps, which makes more sense.
This is still confusing even if she meant reps and not plates. Why would you start off so heavy and only able to do one rep (and assuming 1 set).
*sigh*.. I meant plates on each side... 2 - 45lbs plates at first and now 12 - 45lb plates, and with the hipsled it's already started out at like 15lbs without any plates.0 -

Ha, we were confused because we're all talking about different things. Regardless, you've made great progress and keep upping the weights. Pretty soon, you're going to run out of room on the sled...0 -

Haha. Thanks, actually I've scaled down to 8-45 plates because it was getting a little hard on my knees. I'm going to start working on deadlifts and squats more I think. But I just think women can lift however much they want (keeping proper form in mind), but just be smart and don't hurt yourselves. Women in the free weights makes my weird little heart go pitter patter... proud.0 -
what is a hip sled?-1

I don't even understand this world anymore.
Did someone just ask me how much I curl?0 -

I've always referred that as an inverse leg press. Never heard it called a hip sled though. Learn something new every day lol0 -

If you google "inverse leg press", most of the pictures are of that ^ machine...
Then there's this, vertical leg press:

I lift as much as I can stand to without messing up my joints. I have arthritis. That means I progress more slowly than average, but I am still getting really good results! I lift every other day so that the inbetween days are rest days for my muscles and joints. What if you lift every other day, then do cardio on the inbetween days?0

No idea honestly.
I've only physically seen that machine at one gym.
An old school Gold's Gym.
I'd end up hurting myself more on that thing than with squats.
I'd somehow end up trash compacting myself since I'm magic like that0 -

Hm, yeah I can see that. It just seems so odd, and unneeded.0 -
Also, since you won't be including your own actual bodyweight, you get to load more plates and look cool.
...Although, I'm not sure "cool" is what I'd call how that looks. But, more plates, bro!0 -

that's the one that's with your butt out and your legs above you?
It's a GREAT machine- its' one of the few I actually use- it really hits that tie in between the hammy and teh glute.
They originally used to do that with just the bar- no machine.0 -

It let's you keep pressing with your legs when your lower back is fatigued0 -
