Sondre- volcanoes more commonly known as lava cakes is a rich chocolate cake with a fudge stick in the center when heated the fudge expands erupting out from the top center of the cake! Mmmmmm

just got a call from the doc, my contacts are ready. did I mention nobody knows what the hell caused the pain???!! so much for doctors knowing everything. I'm gonna see if I can get off early to go ride over there
Hi Pip, it is disappointing that the doc has no explanation for the pain you experienced. I haven't had a really good doctor in over 40 years. When I was a youngster my family went to the best doctor. He smoked a cigar and was gruff, but he could look at you and tell what was wrong. One in a million. Hope you are feeling great!
Sondre, SF, PA0 -
Sylvia, What an experience!! How very scary it must have been to have the van spin around like that. I am so glad you and the grandchildren are ok, as well as the people in the other car. I hope all goes well with getting your vehicle back or a new one.
Sondre, SF, PA0 -
Saturday and husband's 71st Birthday. Second one we married in 1976 and migrated to Australia and 1978 to get away from both our ex husband/wife. My daughter was 5 when we married and he brought hjer up as if her own.
4th day on Juice: "Top o' the mornin'" after training and "holiday Lemonade" after dog walk this afternoon
The "Pwerball" yesterday was really good and will do again. researching more juices
Daughter, 44, rang upset yesterday. She had seen oncologist and 2 lymph nodes removed last week were positive. She needs to do 4 rounds of chemo starting in 2 weeks, then radiation and then anti-oestrogen. I cannot help her and NEED to keep training and healthy eating and juicing
my thoughts are with you and the family. hopefully it was caught soon enough and everything goes well with the chemo.
happy bday to your hubby!!!!!0 -

Does anyone have any suggestions on ways to help with these cravings? I could eat pasta/rice every day. Also with creamers. The ones that are healthier are terrible tasting. Any words of wisdom?
yeah, i got bunches!!! first and foremost, welcome! now when i smell white bread, i can smell the bleach in them. so think of eating bleach :0) pasta is awesome HOWEVER, if you eat it, you better make sure to burn it off! have you have brown rice or better yet quinoa? those are better than white rice. one of those little creamers (vanilla) i never noticed it but i FINALLY looked it up, 30 fricken calories for 1????!!!!!! when you scan and log EVERYTHING that you put into your body then see the combined total calorie content, then you look at yourself naked in the mirror, is that stuff worth it? hmmmmmm probably not.... stay awhile and chat!0 -
yes i am having a hard apple cider that is 275 calories for 22 ounces. yes, yes i am!0

@KateKyi posted..Annr, if you poached the egg and grilled the bacon and had a wholemeal piece of toast, that isnt that bad calorie wise. What do you put in your bean soup? I having been making bean chili because I love spicy hot food. I use quorn mince to keep it low cal.
Kate[/quote]
Well, I normally like to just throw everything plus spinach into a tortilla (small corn one) ....if there is a way to turn a food into a Mexican Restaurant, I will do it0 -
Did an hour of deep water today. Actually, I got there a little bit early and did some work on my own, then I joined the class but left early since mother nature was calling. The plan for tomorrow is to do some of the Supreme 90 DVD's that I have.
naiomi - you WILL be taking steps forward. when I first started to do HIIT, I did about 15 minutes and I was sure that I'd die. Now I can go about an hour and not die.
DJ - What is it with kids today? It seems they are very self-centered. Like I'm still waiting for a "thank you" for the gift we gave Jessica's friend for her wedding. I've only been waiting something like 3 years. When we went to dinner Wednesday night (I didn't plan anything since I didn't know what their schedule was) we went to Subway, mainly because you can get something there pretty inexpensively. I would have thought they'd have said "oh, for letting us stay at your house, let us buy your dinner". But they didn't. Not that it was a real big deal. However, the next day they left, saying they wanted to go into Hickory to look around. OK. Then I see on Facebook that she posted what they had to eat at the Tap Room. Now I know that the Tap Room isn't cheap. She was always talking about wanting to save money. So you would have thought that when they went out to eat she'd have ordered a water (no cost) but instead she had a lemonade. I don't understand, but then again, I'm not going to try. Now I really wish I hadn't gone to that reception at the Green Room yesterday. The only reason I went was because Vince was interested in the fact that they were just serving desserts, I couldn't have cared less. Well, he forgot that's the reason we were going to the Green Room and had some cookies at home so he didn't have much there. Oh well....next year if he forgets I'm just going to suggest that we don't go if they do the same thing. I'm so so glad that the desserts that they had were very SMALL bites, these really small (like mini cupcakes) of brownies (even maybe 1/2 that size) and cupcakes, even cheesecakes. but regular size cookies. Got out of there asap. Sometimes a high calorie food is worth it if it tastes really good. Good for you working on the savoring part. unfortunately, the opposite is true of me. I see my old gym and how they've expanded, all the new things they've added. And then I look at what I have, not anywhere as much has been done in the time I've been here to my Y. I met one of the ladies who takes the deep water class and asked her how she liked the new instructor. She said she really didn't, that she didn't feel like she got a good workout. I told her that's why I'm going earlier and doing my own thing and then joining the class after it gets started. This gal does SO much stretching, today she did almost 20 minutes of nothing but neck stretches, ankle stretches, etc. I'm there for a workout, not to spend all that time stretching. You really should stretch at the end of the workout, anyway. Loved your serenity prayer
After the deep water class stopped in at the Salvation Army, but they didn't have anything. Then went to Burkes Outlet since I hadn't been there in a long time. Did get a shirt, not real crazy about it but I got something like 45% off. Then stopped at Big Lots, they didn't have much but I did get Vince some of his bread.
Jen - have fun on your trip
yanniejannie - poor Gwen. Sometimes you just don't know about people
janetr - that's great that your housekeeper will come back!
JametMMc - lately I've gotten to where I'd rather have fruits and veges. Seems I can get a whole lot in and very few calories. Admitted, I do have my slip-ups ( like last night and when we had the guests), but for the most part I'd really rather have veggies. it was all desserts, but they provided them all. Maybe next year I won't even bother going. they used to do this cookout and when they did I always brought my own sandwich. I'm not big on hamburgers and/or hot dogs. Actually, the last time I had a hamburger was last May and I can't even remember the last time I had a hot dog! I'm just glad that the brownies/cupcakes/cheesecakes were SMALL and I only had one of each. I took just a bit of the lemon square, but I did have 3 cookies. Oh well....it was only one day and at least I got out of there asap and didn't bring anything home
Becca - when I take the deep water class or go in my pool, I love the feel of the resistance of the water against my skin. The bad thing is that it reminds me how much flab I have. Oh well....but it still feels so good.
katla - I like doing DVD's at home sometimes because you can get a wide range of things, not much is offered at the gym. But I do admit that I go there to use their equipment since it can be so large to have in the house.
Joyce - I can't believe those computer guys called you back! Good for you standing your ground. Glad to hear things are stable for Charlie
Going to stop now and go in the pool since its nice now. I HEARD there might be storms later today, but who knows????
Went in the pool then went to Aldi. I thought for sure they had cod but they didn't so had to go to WalMart to get it to make tomorrow. I'm going to have some of the shirataki noodles and will try putting some of that terriyaki tofu in it along with some green beans. I did try a little bit and it really isn't bad at all.
Carol/peach - we have to give Loki a capsule every day. The vet gave us this pill shooter, and even the gal who watches our cats when we're gone and gives them their meds says it is fantastic. The trick is to get the pill far enough back in the throat so that the gag reflex causes him to take the pill. It takes all of two seconds, literally. Let me know if you're interested, I'll see where Vince got them from. I know it was this Humane Society in Florida, they were only something like $5. It's like a long plastic syringe with a rubber tip. You put the pill/capsule in the tip, put the whole thing in his mouth, and push the plunger. Yes, Loki isn't crazy at all about it, but he also knows that it's over in no time at all. We give him the pills in a pill pocket. They work fabulous. I didn't know this, but if you buy them at Petsmart and for some reason can't use them, even tho the bag is opened Petsmart will take them back. Also, we didn't know this, but Pill Pockets is a division of Mars, Inc. Was Vince ever surprised to find that out!
Lesley - happy birthday to your hubby. So sorry about your daughter. She must live near you. What did you mean by "I cannot help her"?
Loralou - I used to be a real carb junkie, put a bread basket in front of me and it'll disappear in record time. Then I gave it up for Lent. To be honest, at first it was REALLY hard. Knowing that there was a light at the end of the tunnel (the end of Lent) seemed to make it somewhat bearable. But you know what? By the time Lent ended, I couldn't care less for white bread etc. As a matter of fact, I'd really rather have shirataki noodles than spaghetti, more for the taste than anything else. Good luck to you. you CAN do this
Sondre - I hear ya. Vince retired from Mars, Inc. We were able to take a tour of the plant (it isn't open to the general public but we could since he worked for them). The blocks of chocolate! One thing I do have to say, they are M-E-T-I-C-U-L-O-U-S. Honestly, you could eat off the floor at their plants, so clean.
Heather - my cousin wanted to adopt. The agency asked her to adopt this set of twins that they had because she, herself, was a twin. Everything worked out real well. I just thought it was interesting that they gave her preference in getting the twins because she was a twin. Your weight loss journey is so inspirational. Love how you planned to have an extra room just for the machines and then did it! So glad things worked out for your hubby.
Kate - sorry about the punctured tire and even sorrier for the mosquito bites. I know what a pain that can be
mia - those people are such an inspiration!
Welcome everyone new!
Carol in NC - so glad you're OK and the surgery went OK. Now I just can't wait to hear from you!!!
Poop - good for you passing that guy. Goes to show him you can do it!
Mary from MN - praying that everything for the house goes well for you. Get rid of that chocolate bar...NOW!!!!! Trust me, if Poop and I have to come over, you'll regret not having given it away
Lisa - great post and so very true
Sylvia - oh no!!!!! thank goodness no one was injured
Lenora - you've sure been thru the mill and continue
Alison - happy early birthday. Pamper yourself
Sue in WA - congrats on getting there!
Michele in NC0 -

Sylvia, sorry to hear about your new van and happy to hear that you and the kids are OK.
Our "date" this afternoon was to go to a U-Pick strawberry farm and another farm to buy vegetables---onions and radishes. It's about the end of the season for the strawberries, but the vegetable farm will have veggies all summer so we can stop by every few days.
Carol from NC, I am happy to hear that you are finished with your surgery and beginning the road to recovery...it may be bumpy, but we will all be here for you.
Today we had a great time at the line dance class I teach...we danced to oldies like "All my Ex's Live in Texas" and "Boot Scootin' Boogie" and the newer "All About the Bass". It was warm today and we were all dragging a bit by the end of the two hour class but no one left early.
I have a very different opinion of sugar now that I've read Eve Schaub's "Year of No Sugar". I don't try to totally eliminate sugar but I'm even more conscious of my decision to avoid recreational sugar.
I read all the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich (there are 21 of them) and now I'm starting over and listening to them as audio books when I walk the dogs. At bedtime I read light mystery books by authors like Diane Mott Davidson and JoAnne Fluke. Right now I'm reading a series by Avery Aames set in a cheese shop.
Stats for today:
22,000 steps
three hours of dog walking in beautiful warm summer weather
two hour line dance class
over an hour on the exercise bike while knitting and watching TV (it's a recumbent bike so it's easy to hold the knitting

Sylvia...thinking of you & Grkids. Hope you are all ok.Such a scary thing0

My hubby said fish tacos from Long John Silver sounded good. So I got online looked up their menu and nutrition info. I had the baked shrimp with green beans for sides, didn't eat the rice or hush puppies. I put it all in MFP before we ever left the house. It helps me to not even start looking at what else may look good once I get there and stayed well within my calories.0

Sylvia .... so glad no one was hurt!
Carol ... glad you made it out alive ...
Peach ... sorry you're having problems with your pom ... which I read as "porn" each time I see your posts ... need to find my readers!
Salad dressings .... my mother ... a lifetime member of WW ... gets her dressing on the side and then dips her fork first in the dressing, then into the salad ... it really does reduce dressing usage.
Made the appointment for my son with weight loss clinic ... gonna be pricey ... and it just goes against what I believe works. But evidently my son needs to look for a magic answer. Hope its worth it.

Lenora - Do you like character-based mysteries? A lot of us on my first online home love Louise Penny's books about Inspector Gamache. They get really good from about the fourth on, but it's best to start at the beginning because the characters develop as you go along.
And that's great about the seizures controlled - and yeah, definitely that goes before cholesterol.
Rain kept you outa the pool? I bet it was really the lightning.
Holy cow, what a saga with the MD.
Yeah, it was ... took me a long time before I could trust another MD. When my OB/GYN made some off the cuff remark = I laid him low! He's been treating me for as long as he has been in private practice. 40+ years. I told him that doctors were NOT "God" (gods) and I expected for him to understand I was not going to treat them any better than I got treated myself. ... and 'if' he did not want to treat me any longer ... that was the time to speak up. Of course, he calmed down. I've been on a 1st name basis with him since I lost my first baby. I'd trust him with my life. He spent a week researching what was happening to me and I give him credit for saving my life and making it so I could have future children. Son, 39 last week, and the other 37 in August. Had a rare condition that 'only' occurs when a woman is pregnant. Hydatidiformole pregnancy. It's where the placenta grows and chokes out the fetus. When they x-rayed my belly it looked like a mass of grapes, no fetal skeleton. Had to take 9 weeks of chemo because it had gotten into my bloodstream and attached itself to other organs.
My GP is my 'cutie pie' ... he is sooooooooo cute; PsycheMD is very good and he actually listens to me and can tell when something is bothering me. Usually, it is because my meds are not 'tweaked' and a small adjustment will usually do the trick. Told me to never allow another MD to take me off my Bipolar meds without talking to him first; and I am not going to mess around with my seizure meds. If I can keep both of them 'in check' I am a very happy, mischievous person. I love jokes and funny stories. Really like 'clean' comedians - Like Jeanne Robertson (North Carolina) and her stories about her husband - especially the one about 7-up pound cakes. If you want a 'good' laugh look her up on YouTube. She is hysterical.
I've not heard of Louise Penny; but will definitely check her out. I liked Alex Cross and Michael Bennette (sp?) characters in some of James Patterson books and I like the main characters in John Grippando books as well. A lawyer and his side-kick, Theo, who he got off death row.
First it was the rain; but the thunder came a little later when it was moving out. Can't get into pool if you hear thunder - lightening can strike up to 10 miles away. After being a lifeguard during HS, I don't take any chances.0 -
Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Ladies,
Carol NC, so good to hear from you. I hope the surgery went well and you will have a speedy recovery. (((Hugs)))
Yvonne, in the data base or not, I’m sure you burned some real calories pulling up carpet.
Poop, ride, girl, ride!
Heather, I love hearing about your exercise routine. I hope to build up to something similar one of these days.
Kate, glad you made it home after that ride. If the saddle sore is bad, there is some kind of butt cream that I hear works well. Seems like it was for monkeys or something? When is your next ride? You be safe, ya hear?
Mia, great answer on the exercising as we age.
Heather, where did you have that wonderful meal??? Can it be repeated??? If no one’s looking and you lick the plate, do the calories still count?
Kate, glad you had a wonderful meal, too. And thanks for sharing.
Mary, you definitely need to get rid of it, whether you give it away or throw it away, but make it go away. Otherwise I’ll have to send Pip over there.
Lisa, I have to say I agree with most of that as well. Sometimes we get carried away with some of our sayings and theories but the bottom line is we just have to find what works for us. Thanks for sharing.
Sylvia, so glad no one was hurt but sorry about your new van. Sorry that it gave the kids such a scare, but agree about watching too much TV. “It’s going to explode”? LOL I hope you aren’t too sore tomorrow. (((Hugs)))
Linda, welcome. You will find this a great place for support and sometimes entertainment. Too bad about your cholesterol but other than that, sounds like you are doing great. Come often and share when you’d like. We talk about everything, as we think it all goes toward our health.
Sylvia, love the Insurance joke! The frog joke???a little sick. Lol
Dr.Katie, I’ll gladly give you or any of my friends a kick in the rear when they ask for it. I just need to limit them to those times. Lord knows, we all need them from time to time. Thanks. I love your “How we met” story!! Aren’t ya glad you didn’t find someone else to go with you?? How was the concert? I loved Kris K.
Poop, you said, “did I mention nobody knows what the hell caused the pain???!! so much for doctors knowing everything.” Now you know that they don’t know everything. That is why they are still practicing! I’m just glad your eye is better, even if they don’t know what caused it. I think it was the contact.
Vicki, our doggies don’t like fireworks either. In fact none of the dogs we’ve ever had were big fans. I think they hear some sounds from them that we don’t hear, not to mention they are just LOUD.
Heather, what a doll baby all dressed in pink!!! Sooooo cute.
Terri, are you still going to concerts??? Lucky you. Sorry about your sister’s migraine.
Allison, I hope you have a wonderful BD. Have you been sneaking into that park, underage??? LOL
Sue, welcome back. Wow that was a move! I’d be going crazy without internet for that long. Glad things are settling down and hope everything goes smooth in signing up for everything. You come back, now…ya hear??
JanetM, I hope your new jacket with the side pockets will be more comfy.
Lesley, Happy Birthday to DH!!! Give him a kiss for me. So sorry to hear about your DD. Does she live anywhere near you?
Loralou, welcome. This is a great place for support and good information as well. About all I can suggest is to replace those white carbs with something else. Not a good week to get words of wisdom from me, as all I want to do is eat…anything, everything. I don’t care if it’s carbs, protein, sugar or fiber. I just want to eat. Oh dear, sorry Loralou, I digress. Please feel free to tell us a little more about yourself so we can get to know you. We ask that you sign each post with the name you want to be called and a location. It sounds like you are off to a good start, so good luck.
Michele NC, your deep water class sounds like less exercise than we used to do in my Arthritis class that I went to after my back surgery. It was just what the PT ordered as it consisted of lots of stretching and movement but for sure not what you are looking for.

Phew that was a long read. Made it to Chicago after enduring a lot of traffic and rain! Had a great time reconnecting with my kids, Ben 24 yo and Roz 26 yo. Had dinner at Panera and then took the kids grocery shopping to fill up their fridges and pantries. At the Hampton Inn now. Told husband lights don't go out till I've checked in with my peeps!
Sounds like everyone had a busy day here. Will go back and read in more detail at a later time.
More visiting tomorrow with a visit to an outdoor antique market and dinner at TGIFriday's.
Nite nite ladies.

Update on appraisal- not good. We reduced our price for future purchase of new roof and windows. Buyers knew that. But, FHA says that the roof needs to be replaced. Now what??? They wanted us to sign an extension but can we ask to have our realtor get the second offer??? Anyhow our realtor isn't helping so my DH asked her to set up a meeting with her and the agency broker. She just gave us the brokers number. Any advice on how FHA works would be appreciated!
Michele- thanks for your support! The candy bar has left the building!
Barbie- I haven't heard those songs in ages! I loved them.
Have a great night everyone!

Sounds like a great time, used to visit Chicago fairly regularly. I love it, so much to do and see, wouldn't want to live there cuz is so humid but fun place to visit.0
