Will you do this again for July? I have a mid month Tri and need accountability to make sure I do all 3 sports.

Thanks all. Those of us who got pulled off the course are *supposedly* getting 1/2 off another open 70.3 race...but there's no way I'll be able to travel to do a race. I'm actually considering another local 70.3 - the Musselman on July 12th - it's soon enough that I'll still be trained and won't have another volume build. I'm going to discuss with my coach after work tonight, to see what he thinks, before I bother to mention it to the hubs.

    6/24 - 17.29 mile easy ride in 1:01:58
    6/25 - 1.25mi easy open water swim in 47:46

    Totals through 6/25:
Swim: 9.56 miles (plus prob .5 for the missed yardage on 6/13) in 6.19 hours (8 swims)
Bike: 326.68 miles in 21.69 hours (13 rides)
Run: 33.27 miles in 6.23 hours (9 runs)
Yoga: 3 classes (plus 2 15 min bonus yoga sessions after LL)

Bike news.... The frame has made it from China all the way to the UK (arrived a couple of days ago) and has been back and forth through customs a couple of time. I'm now waiting for the import duty bill to arrive. Made a few calls, looks like its going to cost me around £24 in duty. Once that's done, it should be delivered next working day. So maybe monday.

Just running & biking today. Ended up doing some interval training (8x400s) during my run today, and surprised myself with my pace.

@csman49 it is amazing how global bike part purchasing has been getting these days. I bought new wheels/tires from wiggle (UK) 2 weeks back, and they arrived in 2 business days to the states with their free "up to 8 business days" shipping option. Luckily the price was low enough that it wasn't hit with a duties charge, although I guess I got lucky as their import air hub arrival point was nearby.

Realized yesterday that I'm bad at math, and over-estimated how many lengths are in a mile at a short course pool (70.4 vs. thought it was 75) - I'm not using any of that "swimmers mile" BS either :) Still, not going to adjust my historical numbers as I always seem unsure about double/skip counting a lap or two during my swim workouts.

Had a good workout day today otherwise, staying on track to hit my numbers. Might even pull off 150 running miles if all goes well. Although I wanted to end this month around the century mark for weight loss (from my max 3 years ago - been going slow & steady at 3lb/month), my appetite has unfortunately kept up with my workout schedule, so it'll likely be late July by the time I get there.

    6/26 - yoga class 1:00:41
6/27 - 25.01 mi bike in 1:34:27 (15 min easy, 45 min pe 6/7, 30 min pe 5) - the winds today though meant that most of my effort was spent keeping the bike going forward, vs using that effort for speed. But at least I beat the rainstorm, so I didn't have to clean my bike LOL

    Totals through 6/27:
Swim: 9.56 miles (plus prob .5 for the missed yardage on 6/13) in 6.19 hours (8 swims)
Bike: 351.69 miles in 23.27 hours (14 rides)

Almost there... 2 more days to go... might put a handful more miles on the bike while the sun is out tonight though. Got my first "swimmers high" about halfway through my swim today - I got into a rhythm, my lap time shrunk about about 5 seconds, my shoulder soreness seemed to disappear, and time just seemed to fly by. I think I need to figure out how to recreate that sensation.

    6/1 - 0.3 mile swim, 15 mile bike

What are peoples thoughts on carbon fibre for seatpost and handlebars? I've bought alloy for now. I have a feeling that a CF handlebar failure is only ever going to end badly. Also, will be needing new tyres soon. The Gatorskins do seem quite bulletproof, but between the trainer and the gravel tracks, i'll not get much longer, and would like to get new ones bedded in. I'm thinking of moving from 23mm Gators to 25mm GP4000Sii

Slow to reply on this. For my good bike (specialized roubaix comp), I've only had the combo CF seatpost (w. zertz inserts) along with the CF frame, and can't seem to distinguish what is providing me with the dull thud vs. harsh bump of my old aluminum bike. Still, it definitely feels infinitely less harsh than my old aluminum bike. For tires, very happy with my michelin lithion 2s as I've had them on 2 bikes so far (both 700x25 and 700x23 - I'd go with the 25 first for ride quality), they seem pretty hard to distinguish the from pro 4s, and they are pretty inexpensive ($16/tire US from wiggle - not sure what UK pricing is). No input on a CF handlebar. Still, start with the CF frame, see if that dulls out your bumps, then pick up the seatpost if it isn't enough (or if you really need to shave off a few more ounces).

    6/28 Mohican Sprint Triathlon-
    750 m swim, 15 miles bike, 3.1 run.
    It. Was. Brutal.

Race Report (it's long, I won't be offended if you skip it):
Pouring rain, about 55 degrees at the start, 20 mph winds.
Swim was really choppy- I took it super slow and felt pretty good, but it was a looong 750 meters.
The bike course was amazing, just constant steep climbing and descents with 90 degree turns at the bottom. I was passing people up hill, which was mind boggling for me, because I've never been a good climber, but people were walking up the some of them, so... It was absolutely pouring, I heard later that quite a few people crashed, but I was on my road bike which apparently handled a lot better than the aero bikes with disc wheels in the crazy crosswinds. My bike computer stopped working 5 miles in, so I was riding entirely based on feel, so I was probably not pushing myself hard enough.
Run was a nice uneventful course that wound through the campgrounds. I was taking it pretty easy, chatting with people I passed, waving to befuddled campers, generally having fun. Most other folks were in sufferfest mode, but I have always loved the rain and wasn't shooting for a win, so I just made friends instead. Came in about 15 minutes off the top finishers' pace, right in the middle of the pack, but that was enough to win my age group, so I got a shiny belt buckle AND a medal out of the day! Nice little bit of redemption for me, as this course was my first tri ever and I crashed hard into a ditch on the bike and had to walk the entire run then...

    Swim: 19,150 m
    Bike: 175.4mi
    Run: 40.7 mi
    X-train: 110 minutes yoga, 25 min strength

TLDR: don't bother, I'm just rambling.

Today's race was hard. I suffer with bad feet, and rough ground can cause a lot of pain. So imagine my surprise to discover that this was practically cross-country! And raining. Anyway, PB'd for 5km by 30 seconds.

My 6yr old had his kids race. He was AMAZING! He set off at the start a little too eager, and went flat on his face, and all the other kids passed him. But the little fella got straight back up and into it. At the half way point he'd got up to 4th!! He started flagging then, but bless him, he gave it absolutely EVERYTHING! He finished about 8th ish out of around 25 kids. Thoroughly deserves his medal!

Bikes coming along well. Impressed with the build quality. Headset was no problem. Had slight issue with the BB, but it was the Shimano part, not the frame. Remaining tasks - trim gear cabling to neaten the cockpit, fit casette, ffit pedals, set up gears, bartape, final bolt check. Test. On paper, weighs in at 7.5kg

Ended up going for an extra evening ride yesterday to take advantage of the 9PM sunset, making today's remaining total a bit more manageable. 40 minutes in the pool, 1 hour of running, and a rainy 75 minutes on the bike later and I've hit my goal.

Got a nice surprise as well this AM as stepping on the scale (after my run) put me 100lb below my max from 3 years ago. I suspect I'll need to (slowly) shave off 20 more pounds over the next 2 years to run a Boston Qualifying time (as it'll get me to an optimal marathoner BMI), but otherwise I'm pretty happy with my landing point given my level of muscle.

I'll probably put in a few more miles of running & biking tomorrow along with hitting the weight room, but definitely happy to hit my very aggressive fitness goal for the month with a day to spare.

    6/1 - 0.3 mile swim, 15 mile bike

Finished it off last night. First test ride was a 30km commute to work this morning.

    Jobs to do:
    Tune up the gears
    Adjust riding position
Trim excess cabling (left long to allow for adjustments)
    De-sticker rear wheel
    New tyres
