I want to see the golden doodle pics too!!
And, yes, sunshine can make a world of difference in one's outlook! A better day today.0 -
Hi ladies. Well I woke up today and weighed 2.3 pounds less than I did last week! So something is working. That made up for my new knee problem; I think I told you something snapped in the back of my knee which drove me to the ground; I went to the PT lab yesterday and they think I totally tore my lateral meniscus so that poor knee has about had it I guess.
Last night Benny Beagle kept us up most of the night; DH left the pantry door open yesterday and he ate a new bag of greenies and boy did that give him a tummy ache. He moaned and coughed and passed stinky gas all night. Bleh!
Right now I’m watching the baseball game…go Cubs… but now all they are doing is fighting.
DJ: enjoy your chili and the ocean front resort!
Katla: I am so sorry you are hurting over this move. (((hugs)))
Margaret: sending you (((hugs))) too
Wessecg: you look lovely atop that horse. I’m glad she was so excited!
Lizmil: hope you feel better soon. I’m a diabetic too, so if you need to chat about the adjustment, give me a shout!
Janetr: hope you feel better soon and happy anniversary!
Barbie: wise words!
Joyce: I hate ketchup so I’m with you!
Heather: sounds like you and DH need some (((hugs))) too
Sharon: glad today was better
Alison: he snickered at you? That would be my last straw; you have the patience of a saint
Liz: can’t wait to hear how that little trip went!
Pip: sounds like you are well on the mend
Sylvia glad to see you I have been reading that people were worried about you and I was getting worried too!
Grits: congrats on being just overweight! Score! Can’t wait til I’m there
Katla: so sorry to hear about your daughter. You need hugs too and so does she Sending them right away!
Well ladies, I have 5 more pages to read and no more time. I’ll just have to end it here. Take care all, Meg from Omaha

Good Evening,
[bMia --[/b]the tour was fun. Our tour guide spent a long time talking up the wonders of working at Scentsy. Did soon very nice the headquarters is very nice. Interesting to see how it started and where it is now. I was surprise that the scent was there but not overwhelming.
Michelle -- I am feeling some what better. I went to work.
DJ-- I like the words you live by.
I came home and went to the Y walked the track.
Tomorrow is volunteer day I will take my clients to their volunteer jobs. I work alone side of them. There is a lot of walking involved so that will be helpful.
Tomorrow is also our in service time. Need to be at work a hour early.
So I am getting my lunch etc pack tonight and go to bed soon.
Wishing everyone a good night!

Wess, i reread my last post and I wrote it wrong. I meant to say our house is to small for the dinner. Katla, I am so sorry about your daughter's miscarriage. Miriam, it is so wrong what is going on with those children. I cant imagine how insecure they must feel right now. Children are to be revered and adored, not used in a nasty battle for money. Sylvia, look at shelters for a dog. Those dogs just cry out for a steady home.
Not feeling well at all today. Am exhausted and I have had this pain right below my right shoulder blade. At first I thought it was in the lung but I really believe it is structural now. But on the spouse side, he is eating so much better, and going to the bathroom less. But the swelling in his legs is worse. We have an appointment next wEdnesday but I'm not sure it can wait until then.
Signing off early tonight. Joyce, Indiana0 -
Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am happy that my daughter is doing well physically. I have been concerned about possible bleeding problems all along, as she's had them throughout this pregnancy. She says she's doing okay in that regard. She had a very difficult pregnancy with DGD and nearly died in childbirth. Her pregnancy with DGS went much better. She loved this baby and had concerns about heavy spotting all along. It is her broken heart that I'm worried about now. She is so sad and I have no way to help.0
-
Miriam, I am sorry. Six dollars in food stamps is ridiculous. I don't profess to know how the system works. I have been fortunate enough to never need food stamps or disability. I hope you can get it worked out.0
-
Heather I can empathises with your trials with DH. We had a similar problem a few years ago and DH was in therapy for a while. However, we worked on it together and he used NLP techniques to reframe his responses to stressful situations and is now able to maintain equilibrium most of the time, and can usually pull himself out quite quickly if he does feel the panic rising. I'm glad his DS realised that she was adding to the problem and seems to be making an effort to smooth over the bumps. I hope everything goes well for the BD and that the hassles on the run-up will fade away.
Janetr/Pip Hang in there with all the post op 'niggles'. It will improve. You are both doing so well!
Katla I am so sorry to hear about your DD and the sad loss of her baby. She will need her mama for support in the coming months so I hope she stays near to you. Our hearts bleed when our children suffer. I will be praying for you all in the days ahead.
Meg BlairWell done on the weight loss.
(((Hugs))) to those who need them.
Accolades to those who have had successes!
Commiserations to those struggling with tribulations
I have been very busy the last few days but have been reading posts on my phone when I get a minute. We had a great visit to the theatre in Belfast on Tuesday night to see a new play 'A Night Time' , by a local writer. It had premiered in Dublin a couple of weeks ago, and had a nationally acclaimed actor, Adrian Dunbar in the title role. It was a modern Tragicomedy. The play was good but we were non-plussed by the abrupt ending which left issues unresolved.
We had dinner out before the play, but I know the menu of the restaurant off by heart, so I had already logged what I was going to eat and made sure it was within my daily calories. Also I had lots of extra exercise that day so had leeway to indulge if I decided that I wanted something else when we got there.
Yesterday we went to visit an Open Garden with our garden group. The Indian Summer weather had returned and the owner of the property was a very good host. His house was full of art work and he was happy to give us a tour of his treasures before we went out to see his garden.
We went for groceries after lunch, my first time walking at the mall since my surgery. I wanted to buy flowers for Flower Arranging this afternoon. Now that I am driving again, I can return to all my leisure activities. We also have a wine tasting to go to this evening. I will be driving, so I will be doing proper wine-tasting, with just sips of the 6 wines on offer. DH can have what I don't drink.

morning ladies~
well I got rudely awakened by a skunked dog at 2:15 this morning.. of course Tom comes in and said I think Homer got sprayed and lets him jump up on the bed and he was roughing up everything...so up I got ,and Tom says ok im going from my walk(huh) gee and I guess I have to do this on my own...so found a recipe,
1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1/2 cup baking soda
1 tsp dish soap
shampoo dog with it and rinse well. it worked but if you have a bigger dog than Homer you might have to double or triple the recipe.. before I washed him, I had to throw the bedding in the wash and our family room stinks like skunk, so I made another batch and put it in a spray bottle...
Oh geesh..
They are delivering pellet stove between 9-11 this morning, which was supposed to be changed to this afternoon, because I had a 9:30 hair appt, which I cant change becuase my hairdressers son is getting married Saterday and she is taking tomorrow off, so I have to wait until next thursday.. I have short hair and 7 weeks is a long time..
so i am a tad cranky...
Katla~ so sorry to hear about your daughter.. hoping she recovers well mentally and physically..
well time to get the stuff in the dryer..0 -
Just a quick hello <waving for emphasis >.
Katla, my sympathies to you, too!

DH was awake for a few hours in the night, but not too anxious and he seems fine. He has lost 5 pounds so I will have to keep an eye on that. I noticed that he looked thinner this morning and asked him. He is 6 ft and now 148 pounds.
Just wanted to share something with you. You all know I am trying to write a memoir of my childhood. Today is National Poetry Day and this morning I heard a wonderful poem read on the Today programme, but didn't catch who wrote it. DH had taught it in class and remembered the title, so I googled it and found it. It's by our recent Poet Laureate. It is the kind of thing I am trying (not as well) to do in my memoir and thought it was so well done.
If you google IN MRS TILSCHER'S CLASS by Carol Ann Duffy, you will find it.
Love to all, Heather UK0 -
Katla...so sorry for your loss.

I am so far behind and am not going to catch up right now - but tomorrow is another day! Thinking of you all!0
-
Alison ... Letting the skunked dog jump on your bed was mean spirited on Tom's part ... Several things I would have done differently there .... Hope the rest of your day gets better!0
-
Sylvia - sorry to hear about the "class" situation. I just don't understand people and how they think they can do this kind of thing, ugh. Do your best, I'm sure it will be great.
Janetr OKC0 -
Meg thanks for the hug and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 on the weight loss.
Alison sorry for your rude awakening. Another thing you didn't need.
Irish Terri glad you recovered from your surgery.

Katla - I am so sorry for your daughter's loss and for your sadness and feelings of helplessness to help her.

morning again friends~
oh my I am bush wacked... I got almost 7 hrs sleep, but have been running hell bent for election since 2:15 this morning.. didnt get down to DFIL as I went out and grocery shopped at 5:30 this morning.. and got home a little bit ago and put the stuff away.. as I was putting stuff in the trunk at the store, high smell of skunk in the trunk area, so after this guy drops the pellet stove off, I have to wash the car...... then I will go down to see DFIL, and come back and make either taco's or shepards pie
Had front door airing house out and 2 birds flew in, can the day get any crazier?0 -
Hello everyone, just checking in for the day. Went for a walk last night with a friend, alot of hills, my calves are a little sore this morning. Tonight I'm going to walk my friends dog. She works full time and her husband had prostate cancer surgery yesterday and her mom had back surgery last week and her poor dog is feeling left out. Trying to work out this fog I've been in for awhile now. I swear every time I start back on losing wght and get healthy I tell myself I'll never go back to my old ways and next thing I know it's been several months and a weight gain. I have bi-polar depression and it gets worse when I'm overwhelmed. I can't figure out how I can get back into this journey and stick with it. I know the worse thing I did was to stop posting. So here I am again starting over.
What keeps you ladies from quitting when every fiber in your body says to give up?
Brenda from Md.0 -
Katla - My heart is hurting for you, your daughter and your whole family. A child has been lost and so many dreams for what the future might be have been dashed. I am glad your DD is OK.0

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Morning Ladies,
*Allison, when we read Mary’s post, you almost peed yourself and I still can’t get the sour mouth off my face, then laughing at you. Thanks ladies.
*Miriam, is this the sister that is grandmother to the girls? It seems I remember something like that.
*Linda, congrats on your great numbers at the doctor’s office. Keep up the great work.
*Grits, did you get bomb-barded on something that I missed?
*Terri, no I have not been to Holler House. I did google it and it looks cool.
*Vicki, glad you enjoyed your days off.
*Katla, sending thoughts and prayers for you and your DD. Like you said, thankfully she is okay. (((Hugs))) It is so hard when our children are hurting and we are helpless to do anything. Just keep telling her how much you love her and a verbal or virtual hug is better than none from a mommy.
*Janetr, sorry but I’m lauffin’ to myself wondering if your PT is a male or female “hottie”? I can only guess what he looks like. When I had my back surgery on New Years’ Eve 12 years ago, my first nurse out of surgery was a real hottie and he and I welcomed in the new year, while I was in and out of being awake and in lots of pain. When I got moved to my room I had another male nurse that was a big nerd with zero personality. What a letdown.
*Linda, my heart goes out to you and your DD. Gosh sometimes life just seems to keep handing out one slap after another? ((((Hugs))))
*Lenora, can you not tell your DDIL that you prefer to not have all your family business put on FB? I’d hope she would respect your wishes.
*Becca, I guess I still don’t understand why you go to the Tops group when all it seems to do is give you ainst? I thought it was supposed to be a group for Motivation and it sure doesn’t seem like it gives any positive motivation. I guess if negative motivation is something you like then it works. It just seems you could still walk with your positive friends and skip the negative weigh-ins and meetings. I’m sure you feel you get something out of it or you wouldn’t keep putting yourself through that. You just seem like an overall positive person and I hate to keep hearing about the negative vibes you get at the weigh ins. (((Hugs))) Congrats on the loss, ya looser!!!
*Sylvia, wow, something sounds a little fishy about this workshop. How can she just change the charge per head to you maybe donating the materials??? I just think I’d have to say something and make it clear that I can’t furnish my time, talents and materials out of the goodness of “her” heart and must be paid at least something. That might be preferable to them than never having the opportunity again. The date mix up is a good reminder too all of us that we need to confirm times, dates and $$ amounts in writing. An email that we can keep a hard copy of is always a good way to keep things clear. Good luck and try not to over stress. (((Hugs)))
*Maryann, what a wonderful new walking partner. We want a picture!!! They are so cute. Have fun.
*Meg, I’m sure Benny doesn’t mean to keep you up. It’s just in their nature to bark or should I say Howl. We had a beagle when we lived in Milwaukee and the biggest problem was his desire to roam. He got away once and ended up being hit by a car about ¾ mile from our house. It just broke my heard.
*Liz, glad you enjoyed the tour. I would have been concerned about the overwhelming scent so glad it wasn’t too strong.
*Joyce, please take care of yourself and not just your patient. Maybe a chiropractor would help? Feel better soon.
*IrishTerri, it sounds like you are really back to a normal life, whatever that is? Lol good for you.
*Allison, so did Tom bring Homer in smelling like that? What a guy! So I guess he doesn’t care what in your house ends up smelling like a skunk. And then just go off and leave you with it. Grrrrrrrrrr, I can’t get over this jerk! I’m sorry, I know he’s “your” jerk, but the absolute rudeness is beyond me.
*Heather, I’d keep an eye on DH too if he was that thin. Has he always been on the lean side? Oh to weigh 148 pounds, I’d be in heaven.
*Brenda, welcome back and congrats on starting one more time. That is the first rule of success, to never give up. And you are here, so good for you. Take it one step and one day at a time. If you fall off, get up and back on and try one more time. That is all any of us can do and you can do this!! Hang in there.
to any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Yesterday afternoon DH and I went for a walk. Now that the weather is nicer we may do it more often. I’ve not been a walker in years, since my back problems got so bad, but after losing the weight I’ve lost, it is not as painful. I’m still having a problem with line dancing in that I can’t remember the steps most of the time but most of the ladies are very nice and hey, someone has to be the worst in the class. LOL I have to get packed to go to the Moose Convention. I will be mindful of my eating and drinking and hopefully won’t gain anything. I do hope to get out to the beach this afternoon for a few hours as it is supposed to be sunny and around 80. I’m sending good thoughts for all of you and special wishes for those that need them. (((((Huggs)))) to all.
I hope all of you have a healthy and happy day.
Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.
I Love you,

Happy Thursday ! ! !
Vicki – Our temps are supposed to get up into the 70’s today (but then it is going to rain). Enjoy your cool weather while I enjoy my warm weather. Love your attitude that you are not going to get down, instead getting back to work on your health.
Janetr – good to hear you found a pain med balance. Keep up the good work with physical therapy.
Katla – So sorry for your loss, and for your daughter’s loss. My co-worker had surgery to remove a tubal pregnancy this past Friday, so I crocheted her a little multi-colored heart. If you would like me to send her (or you) one just inbox me the address. Hugs ! ! !
Linda – good luck with your colonoscopy (and the prep)
Becca – I LOVE Ghost Hunters. I’m so glad it is back on SyFy on Wednesdays ! ! !
Sylvia – So sorry about the frustration for the “class”. Toward the end of the lesson, I would not be afraid to say something like “since I am not getting reimbursed for my supplies or services, here is a tip jar, if anyone feels it in their hearts to help me cover the $200 it cost me to offer you the supplies for this class”.
Maryann – congrats on your new walking buddy. Enjoy ! ! !
Meg – congrats on your 2.3 pound loss ! ! ! // In spite of also living in Minnesota and now in Wisconsin, I am still a Cubs Fan ! ! ! Yay
Allison – All I can say is WOW ! ! ! Close to the rudest and most vindictive thing I have ever heard. Hugs, Hugs, and More Hugs ! ! !
Brenda – Hugs ! I just forgive myself and keep coming back here for either support or a kick in the caboose. Which do you prefer at this time?
DJ - Enjoy the Moose. Occasionally my Dad wants me to join, but then we do too many things together and I can tell he's glad I'm not hanging out in "his" club. But ours does have good music and good food.
Last night went well. DS has perfect eyesight still. He also is doing great in all his classes (B- is his current lowest grade, but that teacher said it will go up after she posts the recent test). I don’t know how he does it, since I barely passed Geometry 2 and he is in Trig/Calc. Then a small piece of leftover pizza and some homemade chicken. Then a glass of milk while watching Ghost Hunters and Criminal Minds, and in bed by 9:01pm. For me it really seems that keeping myself busy helps to prevent (or reduce) evening grazing. DH struggled at bowling last night (580 is bad for him). Good thing they are each getting 3 new balls today (sarcastic tone). Plus that means they will be ditching me for a long weekend, so they can take the new balls up to his brother to get them drilled. // Of course my Dad is already freaking out about the bowling balls, because they are stored in the hall against the wall during bowling season, which technically never ends. Yesterday my Dad won Milwaukee Bucks tickets, and DS does NOT want to go with me, so I will be dropping off him and a friend. Maybe I'll sit at the Casino? Or find a coffee shop? Or just walk around downtown? We'll see what I'm in the mood for on Saturday.
Hugs for Everyone ! ! !
Terri in Milwaukee0 -
Allison – I’ve tried to keep my mouth shut with regards to your husband (although, Mike has been getting extra hugs and “Thank Yous” whenever I read about Tom) but this time… The man brings a dog that has been skunked into your house, lets it on the bed and then just leaves to go for a walk while you deal with the resulting mess? On top of that, this same man has the nerve to complain that you are not a good housekeeper? Part of being a good husband is not making a skunk load of extra “wife’s” work. I know you’ve said he does a lot around the house, but he seems to have zero awareness let alone appreciation for all that you contribute to the relationship. He appears to be all take and no give.
Brenda from MD –
- Keep posting every day.
- Look at yourself in the mirror first thing in the morning and tell yourself (out loud if possible) that you are worth the effort to stick with this.
- Ask for help/motivation when you need it.
- Remember that you need to put on your face mask before helping others – i.e. you are no good to your family and friends if you are not willing/able to take care of yourself. Making sure you are fueled with good food, get enough exercise to keep your muscles functioning and getting enough sleep to recharge your body/energy allows you to have the energy to help others.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words regarding my daughter's loss. NC Carol, you have zeroed in perfectly on how I feel, helpless to help her. I am delighted with her two children and love them dearly. I would have loved this one too, but I was worried about DD's health from the start. She nearly died in childbirth with DGD. The birth of DGS was much easier and both came home from the hospital in good health. I hope she will be able to get healthy and try again later if that is her heart's desire. I had two, a boy and girl, and thought it was perfect. She has two, a girl and boy and I think that is perfect, too. I have room in my heart for another but am most concerned about DD's health. Miakoda, I know this is how DD is feeling right now, "A child has been lost and so many dreams for what the future might be have been dashed." Perhaps she will give herself time to recover and try again. We'll wait and see. I offered to come and be with her, but she said no for now. She and DSIL need to have some time together. I'll go if she needs me.
I backed out of spin/zumba today so my neighbor will be going on her own. I'm just not up to it today.
We sent our ceiling fan off for repair about a week ago. It quit after only 19 years of continuous service. They sent us a new motor for the price of repair, and today we will try to hang it back up in the bedroom. I recommend Casa Blanca fans to those who like ceiling fans. They stand behind a good product.

October Goals :
1. Log every bite and swallow.
2. Cardio exercise at least 3 days a week. Work on flexibility and back strength.
3. Have fun every day.
4. Drink at least three glasses of water daily, preferably more!
5. Eliminate alcohol.
6. Monitor sleep. Try to average 7 or more hours of sleep nightly.
