I feel the same way. I seem to be stuck on a number my body really likes. But I try to tell myself that 1) this is not a competition and 2) that this is a lifestyle change making me more mindful of what I eat from now on. That makes me (slightly) less obsessed with a number.

Hi, please could I join? I'm currently 142lbs and aiming for 133lbs.

I'm struggling to keep up my motivation for the last 9lbs!

Welcome, I am struggling too. I think the key is accountability. Log EVERYTHING, and visit here often

I don't know what is up, but three weeks ago I weighed in at 132.4, and then the following week suddenly I am up 1.5 pounds (no binging, no high sodium I don't think) and it has taken me until today to get back to 132.8- logging and exercising. Not sure why I gained that week and at first I thought it was just water, but when the next week I am only down .5 pound and then .5 pound the next week- it's like really? How? How did I gain 1.5 in one week when I was following my daily plan and counting, logging and weighing? I was really hoping to make it to my goal by Thanksgiving, and now I am thinking maybe not until after the new year.

So frustrating right?!?! Are you by any chance logging activity and eating those calories? I think they are generous with amount of calories burned during activities. I'm impressed you stuck with it after a gain you couldn't explain like that. THAT is a victory!!!!!!

I think we're all so close to maintenance that it's very slow going. I'd be happy with 2# loss a month as would soon be at GW. We all would! I think this is the point that many of us have gotten frustrated and started eating more, and started gaining. We all know that if we eat less we'll lose weight. Maintenance for all of us, at this point, would be at a "good weight" that many on here dream of. I need to be patient and remember that even if it takes me another year to lose the last 9 pounds I'll still be in great shape and not gaining for that whole time

I am losing at a rate about 2 pounds/month now. It is slow going for sure but exactly what you said....for most of us being so close to our goals are all pretty good places. That is why I have started focusing on exercising and making good food choices to reach my macro/nutrition goals as closely as I can. All of those things are making me healthier regardless of the number on the scale.

Ok, so I guess this is the conversation I was looking for. I just posted that I was scared about going to maintenance calories of 1500 after I loose the final 5 pounds because I have been maintaining for 3 weeks now at deficit 1000 calories or less. I started at 136.4 on June 15 and am finally down to 115 today with a goal of 110. I had made it to 114.4 a couple weeks ago but am having trouble even getting back to that weight let alone my goal weight, I just seem to fluctuate up and down a couple of pounds but not loosing any more.

I am 68 years old and 5'2". I have lost 42 lbs. over the last 3 & 1/2 years. Lost a few, maintained, gained a few and then I found MFP and have really gotten serious about taking control of my eating.

I only get 1200 cals when I am losing weight and 1440 when I am maintaining. (Because of my age and height). But that is doable with a healthy diet. I eat more fruits and veggies. Nothing is off limits just portion control. I don't usually eat back my exercise calories unless it is wine on weekend or a special occasion or vacation.

I got my Fitbit in May and have done my 10000 steps ever day. I am now on week 2 of C25K. I take spin classes and am just generally pretty active doing all my own housework and helping some in the yard.

You can friend me if you like so you can see my diary.

Thanks. I am a bit taller so I am fine with 125 as my goal (although in high school I was 117 on average- BUT I spent a lot of high school trying to get to 110! Why? I don't know). Anyway I'm 5'4" and I also get 1200 to lose but I am having a very difficult time with the last 7-8 pounds. Right now I do eat back a lot of my exercise calories- I know people say to eat back half of them or so, but I don't really watch that too closely and maybe I should. I have always eaten them back and it's taken me a little over a year to lose 48 pounds. I think I will get too hungry if I don't so maybe I'll just be careful and only eat half back (in fact, I often get motivated to exercise just so that I can eat a bit more because 1200 is very low). I did use a HRM to figure exercise calories but it stopped working so I returned it, BUT when I did use it I always got a higher calorie reading on it than I ever do on MFP or the machines so I thought I would be fine to eat back most of the calories, and so far I have been okay with doing that until just the last few months when I can't take off the last few pounds. I am 48 with hypothyroidism (and yes I take levothyroxine) and according to my Dr my TSH levels are fine. So I'll try to just eat back half and see how that goes.

Based on how I lose weight, if I ate all of my exercise calories back- I wouldn't lose any! So, since many of my exercises don't have any estimate of burn (T25 and Beast body for example) if it isn't cardio I put 98 for my calories. Cardio, I estimate 2/3rds of what my treadmill says. I do eat it all back, but think I'm underestimating. Whatever it takes to lose, is the way I look at it.

Those last few lbs are really hard to get off for us shorties. So we just have to play around with it some to see what works for each one of us. Good luck. Some days are easier than others about feeling hungry. I just don't want to totally blow it this holiday season and gain so much back that I just give up. I don't really see that happening but I have said "never again" so many times in my life.

Maybe you can not eat back all of your exercise cals for a week or two and see how that goes.

What is everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? Any healthy ideas?
