Welcome! Feel free to add me as a Pal.
I did a FitnessBlender interval fat burner with upper body weights today. Holy smokes! Burned 271 cals in 35 minutes!0 -
@indygirl217 : we have something in Toronto called The Path which is like a little underground city, pretty awesome way to get around on the winter! Good for you - get out of the cold whenever you can!
@bluepoppies
: I didn't last a week in the dry January challenge!0 -
Happy Saturday all! Been swimming with my little boy today and then got in some cardio on the cross trainer later this afternoon - feeling good about myself. I've also dusted off my workout DVD's and bought myself a new Heart Rate Monitor so will be able to get back into those soon and seriously kick some butt! Down .8lbs this morning so I'm on track and feeling motivated for this. Have lovely evenings all and hope tomorrow is good to you0

My exercise for the weekend has just been walking so far.
I went shopping today for a few new bits for my running club on Monday, I needed some long sleeve t-shirts and a shower proof jacket - "all the gear and no idea" as my OH says lol.
The fella is doing a downhill mountain bike race tomorrow so he'll be leaving first thing, but I'm going to get up and go for a jog before heading down to watch them (they have to be there early to get their race numbers etc), and I imagine there will be a fair amount of walking about as we follow them around the course. Hopefully it won't be too cold!
Hope you're all having fab weekends, keep up the good work you lovely people.

@zenjen13. That made me laugh!! Didn't last a week!! I am on day 28 of 30!! Almost slipped last week but thought no, have gone too far to start this all over again. I may have wine for breakfast on Wednesday... Just kidding!!! Haha!0

@bluepoppies: sad but true, I think it was about 9 days in that I gave up. There's only so much restriction I can take! Major cred to you for sticking it out.0

just about halfway there! 13 pounds down from my heaviest, another 16 till I'm at my pre-weightgain weight. I think I might start doing some research to how to start out doing heavy lifting. exciting.0

Hi Sky, I am with your on the bread and pasta - I make my own bread so it is deadly when it is fresh! And do you measure out your pasta? An official portion seems so ridiculously small! LOL! My weakness is also pesto. Anyway, good for you for reaching out. We all need support to make this happen!

I normally measure out 50g of pasta per portion. Not sure what's recommended but this satisfies me!!0 -
Rubbish day yesterday in terms of food/exercise. I didn't get out for my run because it was tipping it down with rain, and then after a long day of standing about in a cold windy forest cheering our team on, we all went to the pub, then home for a lovely roast chicken dinner which took me over my calories... Oh well, one day isn't going to wreck things - moving on...
I start my new running club tonight, fingers crossed it goes well. I'll check in tomorrow and let you know how I got on, hopefully I won't trip over my own feet and faceplant or something similar.0 -
@CariTJR that sounds like a great Sunday. I love family days Good luck with the running i am sure you will be awesome.
I have had a great weekend. I visited my mum and she finally gave me my dinner on a smaller plate. oh the things that make us happy haha
I have also finally had a weight drop of 1lb on the scales yay me and i went shopping this morning for some new trousers and got into a smaller size..... happy dancing all day long
Have a great Monday everyone.0 -

Hey! That's my goal. Going to Europe in May and just want to sit on the plane semi-comfortably. Congrats on your success!0 -
My weight loss is finally kicking into gear. I've lost 14 lbs. since Thanksgiving, and my new goal is to lose 15 more by graduation, May 12. I'm graduating with my master's degree, then taking a celebratory trip to Germany on May 15.
My clothes are finally starting to feel loose. I know the pace I'm losing it is totally healthy and should be slow, but it's been frustrating.
I finally feel like watching my calories is habit.0 -
@CariTJR. You are going to do great tonight at the running club! And no face planting, just running like a gazelle!0
-
We went to my parents house for dinner last night and had the full roast beef and potatoes dinner, so I went over yesterday too. But it was a small win for me because I only went over on one meal yesterday, didn't let loose on the whole day!
I was up at 5:30am and went to the gym, so I'm done for the day! Have a good one everyone!!0 -
@ TanyaKeast2015 - Woot! Woot! NSV! That's great! What a good feeling!!
@bluepoppies777 - Wine for breakfast... that might be a first. Way to go to get your workout in first thing!! I need to do that more!!
@CariTJR BEst of luck on your running club!! You'll do amazing!!
@Gillian.. I did the small plate thing last week.. it works! How crazy! Way to go on the smaller pants!! Love it!! Great job!
@SoccerDawg71 - Sweet! Clothes fitting is a great NSV... Enjoy your trip.. sounds amazing and very well deserved!0 -
Sorry to ask such a stupid question (which is probably really obvious) but what does 'NSV' stand for?0
-
nsv - non scale victory
I only know because there is a thread on here that tells you what everything means. Its on a stickie post at the top of the getting started threads0 -
@zenjen13 way to go!!!!
@janetay01 sounds like a great workout mix!
@bluepoppies777 I'm amazed at your resolve, I would have been bingeing like crazy after week 1
@GillianSmith2 love the small plates, it really does make everything look bigger
@CariTJR non-scale victory. I know you're going to rock those new clothes in your running club
@Soccerdawg71 way to go! You'll be looking great and feeling great for your celebratory trip0 -
I went a bit crazy with the cookies this weekend (my family celebrates Christmas late), but I didn't binge which is a huge plus for me. In between that last weekend and my birthday this weekend I have a feeling I'll plateau for a few weeks. But that's why I'm doing a live-it and not a diet. No way I'm giving up my Grandma's cookies and birthday cake for a number on the scale to come two weeks sooner!0

Absolutely agree with you on this. Awesome attitude

@Soccerdawg71 – Well done, 14lb (1 stone!) is amazing, I bet it felt great to hit that milestone. Where abouts in Germany are you travelling to?
@bluepoppies777 – Wine for breakfast is so rock n roll haha. Only time I ever do that is when I go on holiday and have a drink in the airport (no matter what time it is) to get that ‘holiday feeling’ kicking in. I wouldn’t have blamed you at all if you had done it though, you did amazingly well.
@zenjen - My OH lasted 1.5 days into dry January before giving up, you did well to last 9 days.
@Rachel0778 – Totally agree with your way of thinking. At the end of the day we can’t spend the rest of our lives avoiding certain foods completely due their calorie content, we have to be able to eat things like cake and cookies and not feel bad about it.
@Gillian – Thanks for that, I’ve learned some new acronyms now, I am officially down with the longo!
Well, running club was an eye opener….there were two groups, the Zero-5k group, and the more advanced runners group, and we all met up together to get registered and signed in. The first group went off with a couple of coaches and my group were given a little talk about how the programme progresses, how to warm up etc.
The app I follow on my phone lasts about 30 mins, and is alternate walking and running, with the walking being a longer period than the running at first, and gradually over weeks this becomes shorter and the running gets longer. I was doing alright with this….
However, after the warm up this group just went straight into 1 min of each alternating for an hour. It sounds easy, but believe me it was hard work. There were a fair few hills on our route and one woman gave up after about 10 mins and just walked for the rest of the session with the back markers (volunteers from the running group who walk behind so nobody gets left behind or lost). A few others kept stopping and walking through the running parts to give themselves a breather, but I am happy to report that whilst I may have spent the hour at the back of the group, I didn’t give up once, I did the whole hour without stopping! I ache like 90 year old with arthritis today, but I’m feeling quite accomplished too.

Good morning everyone. Happy Tuesday! Well, I had a bad food weekend and yesterday I was feeling very unmotivated and blah... The scale is going to wrong direction. But enough with that! Back at it today. I will get my eating back on track, and get my steps in. I think I am going to up my step goal this week to 15,000. I can do it if I really want to! @GillianSmith2 I will try to step it up until @TanyaKeast2015 gets back in the game! I am nowhere even close to your steps, but I will try! @CariTJR good job with the running club! That is awesome. I saw this class advertised online for a skyrobics class. It is at an indoor trampoline park and it looks really fun. I am thinking about trying it out, but I am still debating. That stuff takes me out of my comfort zone a bit. But-I just need to do it! After this last weekend I went back to try and record what I ate over the weekend. That was a big eye opener! My breakfast alone on Saturday was over 1000 calories. (We ate at McDonalds since we didn't have a refrigerator yet at the new house) Wow-I will have to think about that the next time we have to eat out. Maybe I will prepare a little better in advance so I don't have to do that. Or make better choices! Anyway-hope everyone has a great week!0
